Top 4 Feature Match: Justin Singh vs. Poe Jiang

Justin Singh from Cincinnati, Ohio is Dueling against Poe Jiang from Sydney, Australia in this Top 4 Feature Match! Singh is using Drytron Deck that is capable of making long strings of plays that end with an impressive field. Jiang, on the other hand, is using a Sky Striker Deck typically keeps few monsters on the field. Both of these Duelists are using Mystic Mine, despite their drastically different strategies. One of these Duelists will take their strategy to the Finals, while the other will compete in the third-place playoff for a YCS Prize Card. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Singh chose to go first and opened up with Magikey Unlocking, Herald of Orange Light, Cyber Emergency, Drytron Fafnir, and Drytron Alpha Thuban.

Justin Singh

He activated Drytron Fafnir to add Drytron Nova to his hand and then activated its effect, but lost out to Jiang’s Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Singh activated Cyber Emergency next to add Drytron Zeta Aldhibah to his hand. He Tributed Zeta to Special Summon Alpha and then used Alpha’s effect to add Cyber Angel Benten to his hand. Next, he Tributed Benten to Special Summon Zeta and added Metonis Drytron to his hand. He used Benten’s effect to add Vanity’s Ruler to his hand. He combined his 2 monsters to Xyz Summon Drytron Mu Beta Fafnir and activated its effect, but Jiang Chained Infinite Impermanence to negate it! Singh ended his turn with no further play!

Jiang activated Mystic Mine and Set 2 cards to his back row.

Singh drew and activated Ritual Sanctuary. He used its effect to discard Meteonis Drytron and add Benten from his Deck to his hand. He used the effect of Meteonis Drytron to return it to his hand and then Set a card to his back row before passing.

Singh used the effect of Ritual Sanctuary to discard Meteonis Drytron again and add Cyber Angel Natasha to his hand. He returned the Meteonis Drytron to his hand and Set a card to his back row.

Jiang drew and passed.

Singh used his Sanctuary’s effect again to add Drytron Meteonis Draconids to his hand and then return Meteonis Drytron to his hand. He discarded 2 cards in his End Phase because he had 8 cards in his hand.

Jiang drew and passed.

Singh drew a card and then used his Sanctuary to get Cyber Angel Benten from his Deck. He discarded 2 more cards in the End Phase.

Jiang drew and passed.

Singh used Cyber Emergency to get a Drytron monster from his Deck and then returned Meteonis Drytron from his Graveyard to his hand. He discarded 2 more cards from his hand in the End Phase.

Jiang Set a fifth card to his Spell & Trap Card Zone and passed.

Jiang flipped Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor to negate the effect of Mu Beta Fafnir and then used Sky Striker Maneuver – Afterburners! to destroy it along with a face-down Forbidden Droplet. Next, he activated Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole and used it to send Mystic Mine to the Graveyard. He Summoned Sky Striker Ace – Raye and attacked directly with it, then used its effect to Special Summon Sky Striker Ace – Hayate in his place. He attacked directly with it and sent Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! to his Graveyard with its effect. He Link Summoned Sky Striker Ace – Kagari in Main Phase 2, but lost out on its effect to Singh’s Herald of Orange Light.

Singh drew a card and then used Alpha’s effect to Special Summon it by Tributing Benten. He added Magikey Mechmusket – Batosbuster to his hand with Alpha’s effect. He then returned Meteonis Drytron from his Graveyard to his hand and used Zeta’s effect to Special Summon it to the field by Tributing the Batobuster. Jiang flipped Demise of the Land to put Mystic Mine on the field. He used Meteonis Drytron to Tribute Alpha and Ritual Summon Cyber Angel Natasha. Next, he sent his 2 monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon Lyna the Light Charmer, Lustrous and used the effect of Ritual Sanctuary. He shuffled 5 Spells from his Graveyard into his Deck and Special Summoned Natasha back to the field. He flipped Cyber Emergency next, adding Delta to his hand. He activated Pot of Prosperity, banishing 3 cards from his Extra Deck face-down to reveal Alpha, Mystic Mine, and another Prosperity from the top of his Deck. He added Alpha to his hand and then Set a Called by the Grave before ending his turn. In the End Phase, Jiang flipped Widow Anchor to negate Lyna’s effect and used Multirole to Set Afterburners from his Graveyard.

Jiang flipped Afterburners to destroy Lyna and Ritual Sanctuary before passing his turn.

Duel Two

Singh opened up Duel 2 with Cyber Angel Benten, Drytron Fafnir, Twin Twisters, Called by the Grave, and Drytron Meteonis Draconids. He activated Drytron Fafnir to add Drytron Nova to his hand and then used it to Special Summon Zeta from his Deck. He sent it to the Graveyard to Link Summon Linkuriboh and then used Zeta’s effect to Special Summon it from the Graveyard by Tributing the Benten in his hand. He added Meteonis Drytron to his hand with Zeta’s effect and then used Benten’s effect to add Diviner of the Herald to his hand. He Normal Summoned Diviner and activated its effect. Jiang tried to negate it with Effect Veiler, but lost out to Called by the Grave! Diviner sent Herald of the Arc Light to the Graveyard and Singh used its effect to add Benten to his hand. He activated Meteonis Drytron to Special Summon Benten and then combined Benten and Diviner to Xyz Summon Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal. He used Beatrice’s effect to send Gamma from his Deck to his Graveyard and then Tributed Benten to Special Summon the Gamma. He Special Summoned Zeta and then added Cyber Angel Idaten to his hand with the effect of Benten. He added Meteonis Drytron to his hand and then Xyz Summoned Mu Beta Fafnir. He tried activating its effect, and Jiang used Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit to destroy it. Nevertheless, its effect resolved to send Alpha from his Deck to his Graveyard. Next, he Special Summoned Alpha and added Batobuster to his hand before Ritual Summoning it. He used its effect to add Magikey Unlocking to his hand. He Set the Unlocking before ending his turn.

Jiang activated Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones and Singh Chained Unlocking to negate it, calling EARTH.

Poe Jiang

Jiang Summoned Raye and sent it to the Graveyard to Summon Hayate. He attacked Linkuriboh, and Singh used its effect to make Hayate’s ATK 0. Hayate attacked directly and sent Engage to his Graveyard. In Main Phase 2, he Link Summoned Kagari and returned Engage to his hand. He activated Pot of Prosperity next, banishing 3 cards from his Extra Deck to add Infinite Impermanence to his hand from the top of his Deck. He activated Engage to add Multirole to his hand and played it. Then he Link Summoned Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku by sending Kagari to the Graveyard. He Set 2 cards to his back row and then added a Shark Cannon to his hand in the End Phase with Shizuku’s effect. He activated it to banish Gamma from the Graveyard and then Set it back to the field with the effect of Multirole.

Singh drew a card and then activated Twin Twisters! He discarded Vanity’s Ruler to target Shark Cannon and Dimensional Barrier, both of which Jiang Chained. He declared Rituals with the effect of the Barrier. Singh Special Summoned Delta and drew a card with it. Next, he used Preparation of Rites to add Cyber Angel Natasha to his hand along with Meteonis Drytron. He Special Summoned Zeta next, and then Xyz Summon Drytron Mu Beta Fafnir. He switched Beatrice into Attack Position and then attacked Shizuku with Mu Beta Fafnir to destroy it. Jiang Special Summoned Raye from his Graveyard, and when Beatrice attacked it, Jiang Special Summoned Kagari with its effect and returned Engage to his hand. Beatrice attacked and destroyed Kagari. In Main Phase 2, Jiang Special Summoned Downerd Magician and then upgraded it into Divine Arsenal AA-Zeus Sky Thunder. Jiang tried to use the effect of his Multirole in the End Phase, and Singh Chained the effect of Zeus.

Jiang activated Engage to add Raye to his hand and draw a card. He activated Terraforming next, adding Sky Striker Airspace – Area Zero to his hand. He Normal Summoned Raye next, and sent it to the Graveyard to Link Summon Kagari. He used Kagari’s effect to return Engage to his hand and then used Engage to add Widow Anchor from his Deck to his hand and draw a card. He used Widow Anchor to target Zeus and Singh Chained the effect of Zeus to clear the field. Jiang Special Summoned Raye from his Graveyard and took control of Zeus, switched Zeus into Attack Position, and then attacked directly with Raye and Zeus. He Tributed Raye to Summon Hayate next and attacked directly with it as well, triggering its effect. In Main Phase 2, he used Area Zero to destroy Zeus and add a Raye to his hand. He Set a card to his back row and then Link Summoned Shizuku before passing. He added Afterburners to his hand in the End Phase with the effect of Shizuku.

Singh activated Cyber Emergency to add Alpha from his Deck to his hand. He Special Summoned Delta and drew Red Reboot. Next, he Tributed Natasha from his hand to Special Summon Alpha. He activated Meteonis Drytron to Ritual Summon Natasha and used its effect to gain 700 Life Points. He returned the Meteonis Drytron to his hand and then Link Summoned Knightmare Phoenix. He used its effect to try to destroy a face-down Widow Anchor, which Jiang used to take control of the Phoenix. Singh Special Summoned Natasha from his Graveyard and used its effect to take control of Knightmare Phoenix and gain more Life Points. He Special Summoned Zeta next and then Special Summoned Natasha back from the Graveyard and took control of Shizuku. He sent 3 monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon Knightmare Unicorn and used its effect to return Area Zero to the Deck. He drew Herald of Orange Light since his Unicorn was co-linked to Knightmare Phoenix. At the end of the Main Phase, Jiang used the effect of Nibiru! He Special Summoned it to his field, and Singh Special Summoned a Token. Singh Special Summoned Natasha back from his Graveyard again and gained more Life Points after taking control of Jiang’s Defense Position Nibiru. Next, he Link Summoned Herald of Mirage Lights and attacked directly with Natasha and his Herald.

Jiang Summoned Raye and sent it to the Graveyard to Link Summon Shizuku. He attacked Natasha, and Singh used Natasha’s effect to negate the attack. Jiang passed turn and time in the round was called! Jiang was up by 100 Life Points and was declared the winner!

Poe Jiang takes a 2-0 win with his Sky Strikers after an extremely long Match! He’s moving on to the Finals of YCS Hartford!
