Dakota Angeloff from Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Marcus Hayden from Chicago, Illinois both lost their Top 4 Match, but the journey isn’t over for either of them quite yet. Now, they’re facing off in a Match that will determine which Duelist takes third place and will bring home a Super Rare copy of the Anotherverse Dragon Prize Card. It’s Tearlaments against Spright for one last time this weekend. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Hayden activated Runick Flashing Fire in his Draw Phase to Summon Hugin the Runick Wings and discarded Runick Destruction with its effect to add Runick Fountain to his hand. He activated the Fountain and then ended his turn.

Angeloff opened up with Tearlaments Scheiren, Tearlaments Reinoheart, Tearlaments Merrli, Tearlaments Cryme, and Tearlaments Sulliek. He drew Super Polymerization for his turn and then activated the effect of the Scheiren in his hand to Special Summon it by sending Reinoheart to his Graveyard. He sent the top 3 cards of his Deck to his Graveyard and then used the effects of Sulliek, Reinoheart, and Havnis. He added Merrli to his hand, Special Summoned Reinoheart, and then Fusion Summoned Tearlaments Kitkallos. Hayden used Runick Freezing Curses from his hand to try to negate the effect of Kitkallos, and Angeloff Chained the effect of his Super Polymerization by discarding Sulliek. He fused Kitkallos with Hugin to Summon Predaplant Dragostapelia and then resolved the effect of his Kitkallos to add Tearlaments Scream to his hand. Hayden drew 3 cards with the effect of his Fountain and then conceded, revealing to Angeloff that he had drawn two copies of Ipiria and a Capshell.

A weak draw for Marcus Hayden causes him to end his first turn with just a Runick Fountain and a Hugin on his field, and he concedes soon after Angeloff gives him a glimpse of his powerful starting hand.

Duel Two

Hayden activated Runick Dispelling in his Draw Phase to Special Summon Hugin and used Hugin’s effect to add a Fountain to his hand by discarding Runick Slumber. Angeloff Chained the effect of Havnis to Special Summon it and send Dark Ruler No More, Merrli, and Tearlaments Scream from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard. He activated the effects of Merrli and Scream. He added Tearlaments Sulliek to his hand with Scream’s effect and then Fusion Summoned Tearlaments Kitkallos. He activated its effect, but lost out to Hayden’s Runick Freezing Curses negating its effect. Angeloff banished the top 3 cards of his Deck due to the effect of Freezing Curses. Hayden activated Spright Starter next to Special Summon Spright Blue and lost 1100 Life Points. He used its effect to add Spright Jet to his hand and then Special Summoned the Jet in his Main Phase. He used its effect to add Spright Smashers to his hand and then Xyz Summoned Gigantic Spright. He used Gigantic Spright’s effect to Special Summon Wind-Up Kitten from his Deck and used Kitten’s effect to return Kitkallos to the Extra Deck. He activated Runick Fountain next and then used Slumber targeting Gigantic Spright. Angeloff banished the top 3 cards of his Deck and Hayden drew 3 cards with the effect of Runick Fountain. Hayden Normal Summoned Ipiria next and used its effect to draw a card. Next, he Link Summoned Spright Elf and used its effect to Special Summon Spright Blue back from his Graveyard. He combined Jet with Blue to Xyz Summon Number 29: Mannequin Cat next, and then Set a card to his back row.

Angeloff opened up with Tearlaments Sulliek, Tearlaments Havnis, Danger! Nessie!, and 2 copies of Dark Ruler No More.

He drew Cosmic Cyclone and then used Dark Ruler No More in his Main Phase. Next, he activated Cosmic Cyclone to banish Runick Fountain by giving up 1000 Life Points and activated the effect of Danger! Nessie!. He randomly discarded the Nessie and used its effect to add Danger!? Jackalope? to his hand. He used the Jackalope’s effect next and randomly discarded Sulliek. He Special Summoned the Jackalope, drew a card, and then added Reinoheart from his Deck to his hand with the effect of Sulliek. He activated Upstart Goblin next to draw Cosmic Cyclone and activated it to target Hayden’s face-down Spright Smashers. Hayden Chained it to banish his own Gigantic Spright along with Angeloff’s Jackalope. Angeloff Summoned Reinoheart next and activated its effect to send Scheiren to his Graveyard. He used its effect to Fusion Summon Kitkallos and used Kitkallos’s effect to add Merrli to his hand. Next, he used Kitkallos’s effect targeting Kitkallos, exchanging it for the Merrli in his hand. He sent 8 cards from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard, including a Tearlaments Heartbeat and Havnis. He used the effect of Heartbeat to add Sulliek to his hand and used Havnis to Fusion Summon Garura, Wings of Resonant Life. Next, he sent Garura and Merrli to the Graveyard to Link Summon Spright Sprind. He drew a card with Garura’s effect and then used Sprind’s effect to send Merrli from his Deck to his Graveyard. He used Merrli’s effect to Fusion Summon Mudragon of the Swamp and then Xyz Summoned Bahamut Shark by combining Mudragon with Reinoheart. He attacked Elf with Sprind, destroying both, and then destroyed Mannequin Cat in battle with Bahamut Shark. He used his Shark’s effect to Special Summon Toadally Awesome and then used both monsters to Link Summon Spright Elf. He used Toadally Awesome’s effect to return Reinoheart to his hand and then used Elf’s effect to Special Summon Merrli. He Set Sulliek before passing his turn.

Hayden activated Runick Tip in his Main Phase to add Runick Destruction to his hand and Angeloff banished the top card of his Deck. Next, Hayden activated Runick Fountain. He activated Runick Destruction next, destroying Sulliek and banishing the top 4 cards of Angeloff’s Deck. Then, Hayden used his Fountain to return 3 Runick Spells to his Deck and draw 3 cards. He activated Runick Flashing Fire to Summon Hugin from his Extra Deck and then Special Summoned Carrot from his hand. He Xyz Summoned Gigantic Spright next and used its effect to Special Summon Ipiria. He used Ipiria’s effect to draw a card and then activated Spright Starter to Special Summon Spright Blue from his Deck and lose 1100 Life Points. He used Blue’s effect to add Spright Red to his hand and Angeloff used the effect of his Elf to Special Summon Spright Sprind. Hayden used his Triple Tactics Talent to draw 2 cards and then Link Summoned Spright Elf. He used its effect to Special Summon Wind-Up Kitten from his Graveyard and used Kitten’s effect to return Spright Elf to Angeloff’s Extra Deck. Next, Hayden Special Summoned Spright Red and Link Summoned I:P Masquerena. He Set 2 cards to his back row and then passed turn.

Angeloff activated Dark Ruler No More. After it resolved, Hayden activated Runick Tip from his hand and Angeloff conceded with only 7 cards in his Deck, realizing he would run out of cards in his Deck due to the effects of Hayden’s Runick cards.

Duel Three

Angeloff opened up Duel 2 with Danger!? Tsuchinoko?, Tearlaments Scream, Tearlaments Heartbeat, Primeval Planet Perlereino, and Tearlaments Havnis. He activated Perlereino to add Tearlaments Scheiren to his hand and then activated Scream. He activated the effect of his Tsuchinoko next, randomly discarding Scheiren from his hand. He Special Summoned the Tsuchinoko and drew a card. He used Scheiren’s effect to Fusion Summon Kitkallos and used the effects of Kitkallos and Scream. He sent the top 3 cards of his Deck to his Graveyard and added Tearlaments Cryme from his Deck to his hand. He used the effects of the Merrli and Night Sword Serpent that he had sent to his Graveyard to Special Summon the Serpent and Fusion Summon Garura. He used Kitkallos’s effect targeting Kitkallos to send the Kitkallos to the Graveyard and Special Summon Merrli from his hand. He used their effects to send the top 8 cards of his Deck to his Graveyard and then activated the effect of Havnis to Fusion Summon Mudragon of the Swamp. He destroyed his Scream with Perlereino and added Sulliek to his hand with the effect of Scream. He Link Summoned Curious, the Lightsworn Dominion next and drew a card with the effect of Garura. He used Curious’s effect to send Reinoheart to his Graveyard and used Reinoheart’s effect to Special Summon it. He sent the top 3 cards of his Deck to his Graveyard with Curious and then combined Night Sword Serpent with Mudragon of the Swamp to Xyz Summon Bahamut Shark. He used the Shark’s effect to Special Summon Toadally Awesome and then Set Sulliek and Cryme before ending his turn.

Hayden Special Summoned Lava Golem to Angeloff’s field by Tributing his Toadally Awesome and Reinoheart, and Angeloff used the effect of his Toadally Awesome to return a Reinoheart to his hand.

Next, Hayden activated the effect of Spright Starter to Special Summon Spright Jet and used its effect to add Spright Smashers to his hand. He combined his 2 monsters to Xyz Summon Gigantic Spright and then used its effect to Special Summon Wind-Up Kitten. He used Kitten’s effect to return Lava Golem to his hand. Hayden used Runick Slumber to Special Summon Hugin and then used Hugin’s effect to discard Spright Starter and add Runick Fountain to his hand. He used Runick Tip to add Flashing Fire to his hand and banish the top card of Angeloff’s Deck. Next, he activated the Fountain and used Flashing Fire to destroy Bahamut Shark and banish 2 cards from Angeloff’s Deck. Hayden drew 3 cards with his Fountain and then sent Kitten and Hugin to his Graveyard to Link Summon Dharc the Dark Charmer, Gloomy. He used Dharc’s effect to Special Summon Merrli and then Link Summoned Spright Elf. He used it to Special Summon Wind-Up Kitten and used Kitten’s effect to return Curious to the Extra Deck. Next, he Link Summoned I:P Masquerena. He Set a card to his back row and passed.

Angeloff drew a card and then used the effect of a Nessie in his hand. Hayden Chained the effect of Elf, followed by the effect of Masquerena. He Link Summoned Knightmare Unicorn and Special Summoned Blue from his Graveyard. Angeloff discarded Sulliek at random, Special Summoned Nessie, and drew a card. Hayden used his Unicorn’s effect to return Nessie to the Deck by discarding a card and used Blue’s effect to add Spright Jet to his hand. Angeloff used Nessie’s effect again in the hand, this time discarding Scheiren at random. He Special Summoned the Nessie, drew Skill Drain, and then used Scheiren’s effect. Hayden Chained Slumber’s effect targeting Spright Blue. He banished the top 3 cards of Angeloff’s Deck. Angeloff Fusion Summon Tearlaments Rulkallos and used his Perlereino to target Hayden’s face-down card for destruction. The effect of Fountain was Chained to draw 3 cards, and Hayden Chained his Smashers. Angeloff Chained his Sulliek to negate the Unicorn’s effect and send Rulkallos to the Graveyard. Smashers banished Angeloff’s face-down Cryme and his own Spright Blue. Angeloff returned Rulkallos to the field and then Normal Summoned Reinoheart. He used its effect to send Havnis to the Graveyard and used Havnis’s effect to Fusion Summon Tearlaments Kaleido-Heart. He used its effect to target the Fountain and Hayden Chained Freezing Curses to negate its effect and banish 3 cards from Angeloff’s Deck. Kaleido-Heart attacked and destroyed the Unicorn, and then direct attacks from Rulkallos and Nessie dropped Hayden down to 500 Life Points. Angeloff Link Summoned Dharc next and used its effect to Special Summon Masquerena. Angeloff only had 12 cards left in his Deck, and Hayden activated Runick Smiting Storm to banish the top 6 cards of Angeloff’s Deck! Next, Angeloff Link Summoned Curious by using all of his monsters in the Link Summon and ended his turn.

Hayden activated Runick Destruction to destroy Angeloff’s face-down Skill Drain and banish the top 4 cards of Angeloff’s Deck. Then he Normal Summoned Ipiria and used its effect to draw a card. He activated Runick Slumber to banish the remaining cards from Angeloff’s Deck!
