3rd Place Playoff:Dakota Angeloff Versus Vincent Wong
These two Duelists both came up short in the Top 4, but they’re still fighting for a chance to get their own Super Rare copy of Anotherverse Dragon! They’ve both been featured multiple times this weekend and they’re ready to throw down.
Wong was up first, drawing a hand of Bystial Druiswurm, Skull Meister, 2 Spright Starters and a Spright Blue! He kicked off the turn with Spright Starter, Summoning Spright Red and reducing his LP by 1200. Blue was Summoned next from his hand, adding Spright Jet, which was then Summoned and added a Spright Smashers as well. Blue and Jet were Linked into Sprind, sending Nimble Angler, and getting Wong 2 Nimble Beavers on the field.
The 2 Beavers were overlaid into a Gigantic Spright, and Angeloff used Bystial Magnamhut; Wong shut him down with Spright Red. Gigantic Spright’s effect was used and Angeloff chained Herald of Orange Light discarding Keldo the Sacred Protector. Wong set the Smashers and Starter, passing over to Angeloff.
Angeloff Summoned Tearlaments Reinoheart, sending Tearlaments Scheiren to the Graveyard. In response to Angeloff’s Scheiren activating Wong used his Bystial Saronir banishing it from the grave. On resolution, Wong flipped Spright Starter to Summon Spright Carrot, reducing his life by another 1000. Angeloff set 1 facedown and passed turn, having drawn nothing to keep going.
Wong drew Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring for turn, adding it to the hand of Skull Meister. He switched all his monsters to attack, and Saronir attacked Reinoheart prompting Angeloff to flip Tearlaments Sulliek without using the effect, after the attacks Angeloff was left with 4800 LP remaining, and he was up.
Angeloff used Mudora the Sword Oracle, discarding Kelbek the Ancient Vanguard but Wong used Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to stop it, when Angeloff used Kelbek, Wong revealed his Skull Meister. Angeloff attacked Spright Red with Mudora, and Wong activated his Spright Smashers! Mudora was chained to the Smashers, targeting Blue and Jet, as well as his own Reinoheart to place them back in the Decks.
Wong drew another Spright Starter for turn, and on its activation Angeloff conceded!
Wong takes a decisive Game 1 win! Both Duelists sided vigorously, the coveted Anotherverse Dragon on the line. Angeloff would be starting in Game 2, but the pressure was on.
Wong’s hand was Spright Jet, 2 Cosmic Cylones, Nimble Beaver, and Bystial Druiswurm. Angeloff Summoned Merrli, Sending Kelbek and Tearlaments Sulliek to the Graveyard, a much better start than last time. When both players sent 5, all 3 of Wong’s Infinite Impermanences were sent as well as Angeloff sending Merrli and Mudora, allowing him to Fusion Summon Tearlaments Kitkallos with both Merrlis. Kitkallos grabbed Reinoheart, and Angeloff used Kitkallos to target itself. He then chained Mask Change II discarding Reinoheart, and Summoned Masked HERO Dark Law. The discarded Reinoheart was Summoned back to the field, and Angelo sent 5 more cards to the Graveyard including Scheiren and Cryme, then pitched Havnis thanks to Reinoheart.
In a new chain, Angeloff used Havnis and Scheiren, to which Wong responded with Bystial Druiswurm targeting Tearlaments Kitkallos. Angeloff responded with Herald of Orange Light discarding Keldo, which Wong said was enough to go to Game 3!
Angeloff didn’t let Game 1 slow him down and showed the power of the Tearlaments Deck in Game 2! We’re going to Match point, with the winner walking away with a Super Rare copy of Anotherverse Dragon!
Wong had Angeloff going first in the final game of the Match. Wong opened with Spright Smashers, Dimension Shifter, Bystial Sarornir, Infinite Impermanence, and Nimble Beaver. Angeloff’s first action was to activate Scheiren, only to be met with Dimension Shifter! Angeloff shrugged it off as he activated PSY-Framgear Gamma, Summoning itself with PSY-Frame Driver and negating the Dimension Shifter. Scheiren sent another Gamma, Herald of Orange Light and Keldo. He Summoned Tearlaments Merrli next, sending 2 copies of Primeval Planet Perlereino and a Lightning Storm to the Graveyard, leaving Angeloff with 1 card in hand and a Graveyard full of regret. He sent the Gamma and Driver to the Graveyard to Summon Spright Sprind. In response to Sprind’s effect though, Wong used his Impermanence to shut that down too. Angeloff Summoned Spright Elf and used it to Summon back Herald of Orange Light before setting 1 card and passing over to Wong.
Wong Drew Spright Jet for turn! Nimble Beaver was Normal Summoned, and in response to its effect Spright Elf was used targeting Merrli but Wong had Bystial Saronir to target the Merrli as well. Merrli was Banished, Saronir was Summoned, and Beaver Summoned Angler. Spright Jet was Summoned next, grabbing Spright Starter, and Wong was in total control.
The Nimble monsters were Linked into Spright Sprind, using the Main Monster Zone opened by Angeloff’s copy. Sprind sent Angler which then Summoned 2 more Beavers, and Wong overlaid a Beaver with Sprind to make Gigantic Spright. He Summoned Spright Blue from Deck with Gigantic and Blue added Spright Carrot to hand as well.
Wong took a moment to consider his options, and Xyz Summoned Cat Shark with Blue and Beaver. Cat Shark Doubled the attack of Gigantic Spright, Spright Carrot was Summoned and immediately used to overlay into Onimibaru Soul Sweeper. With that Angeloff Conceded!
Vincent Wong secures 3rd Place, and with that win he earns a copy of Anotherverse Dragon!
