Round 5 Feature Match: Andrew Sullivan vs. Nicola Bartoli
Our Round 5 Feature Match pits Andrew Sullivan and his Ignoble Knight Deck against Nicola Bartoli and his Kashtira Deck. Both Duelists are currently 3-1 in the tournament, so they’ll be looking for a win here in order to increase their chances of making a Day 2 finish. It’s time to Duel!
Duel One
Sullivan started off the Duel and Bartoli used the effect of Dimension Shifter in his Standby Phase. Sullivan Normal Summoned Neo-Space Connector in Main Phase 1 and used its effect to Special Summon Neo-Spacian Aqua Dolphin from his Deck in Defense Position. He activated his Aqua Dolphin’s effect by discarding Plaguespreader Zombie and Bartoli Chained the effect of Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries declaring Spright Elf. Sullivan revealed his Extra Deck, and there wasn’t a Spright Elf in sight! Bartoli revealed his hand of Triple Tactics Talents and 2 copies of Dimensional Fissure. Next, Sullivan Link Summoned Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights and used its effect to add Infernoble Knight Ogier to his hand. He Set a card to his back row and then ended his turn.
Bartoli drew a card and then activated Dimensional Fissure. He Set 2 cards to his back row and then passed.
Sullivan used Isolde’s effect to send 4 Equip Spell Cards from his Deck to his Graveyard to try to Special Summon a Level 4 monster from his Deck, but lost out to Infinite Impermanence. Next, he Normal Summoned Ogier and used its effect to banish Immortal Phoenix Gearfried from his Deck. Next, he Special Summoned Infernoble Knight – Renaud from his hand and used its effect to return Immortal Phoenix Gearfried from his banished zone to his hand. Next, he banished an Equip Spell Card from his Graveyard to Special Summon Immortal Phoenix Gearfried. He Link Summoned Knightmare Unicorn next, and used its effect to discard Super Quantum Red Layer and return Bartoli’s face-down card to his Deck. Then, he Link Summoned Accesscode Talker and used its effect to increase its ATK by 3000. Direct attacks from Accesscode Talker and Immortal Phoenix Gearfried wiped out all 8000 of Bartoli’s Life Points!

Duel Two
Bartoli started off Duel 2 by activating Dimensional Fissure. Next, he activated Pot of Prosperity by banishing 6 cards from his Extra Deck face-down and added Kashtira Unicorn to his hand. He Special Summoned it and then used its effect to add Kashtira Birth to his hand. He Set 2 cards face-down before passing his turn.
Sullivan activated Harpie’s Feather Duster! Bartoli Chained Dimensional Barrier declaring “Synchro Monsters” and the rest of his back row cards were destroyed! Next, Sullivan Normal Summoned Neo-Space Connector and used its effect to Special Summon Neo-Spacian Aqua Dolphin from his Deck. Bartoli used the effect of his Unicorn to banish Accesscode Talker from Sullivan’s Extra Deck. Next, he activated the effect of his Aqua Dolphin by discarding Dark Ruler No More. Bartoli revealed his hand, but had no monsters that could be discarded by its effect. Sullivan used his two monsters to Link Summon Isolde next and used Isolde’s effect to add Igknight Crusader to his hand. Next, he sent 4 Equip Spell Cards including Cursed Bamboo Sword and Divine Sword – Phoenix Blade from his Deck to his Graveyard with Isolde to Special Summon Ignis Phoenix, the Dracoslayer from his Deck. He used the effect of the Cursed Bamboo Sword to add Golden Bamboo Sword to his hand. Then, he placed Igknight Crusader and Igknight Paladin in his Pendulum Zones and used the Paladin’s effect to destroy both of them and add Igknight Gallant to his hand. Next, he banished Aqua Dolphin and Connector from his Graveyard to return the Phoenix Blade to his hand. He used his two on-field monsters to Link Summon Beyond the Pendulum next, and used its effect to pay 1200 Life Points and add Ignis Phoenix, the Dracoslayer to his hand. He played Ignis Phoenix and Igknight Gallant in the Pendulum Zones, Set a card, and then Pendulum Summoned two monsters from his Extra Deck and a monster from his hand! Next, he used his Gallant’s effect to destroy both Pendulum Scales and add Immortal Phoenix Gearfried to his hand. He used Ignis Phoenix’s effect to Special Summon Igknight Cavalier from his Deck. He Link Summoned Knightmare Unicorn next, and discarded a Golden Bamboo Sword to return Kashtira Unicorn to Bartoli’s Deck. Then he Special Summoned Immortal Phoenix Gearfried from his hand by banishing an Equip Spell Card from his Graveyard. Finally, he Special Summoned Infernoble Knight – Renaud and used its effect to add Infernoble Knight Oliver to his hand. Direct attacks from all of Sullivan’s monsters wiped out Bartoli’s 8000 Life Points!
