It all comes down to this! Caleb Hernandez, from Upland, CA, won yesterday’s Dragon Duel event, and he’s back to face Connor Rosenstein, from Portland, OR, the winner of today’s event! The winner of this Match will take home a set of the Darklord Prize Cards, as well as the exclusive 250^th YCS Dragon Duel trophy!

Duel 1

Rosenstein used The Bystial Lubellion, searching for Bystial Magnamhut. He Normal Summoned Aluber the Jester of Despia, searching for Branded Fusion. He played it, and Hernandez negated it with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Rosenstein Set one back row card.

Hernandez had Aluber, Branded Fusion, Fusion Deployment, and Despian Tragedy. He drew Fallen of Albaz. He Normal Summoned Aluber, searching for Branded Lost. He played it and followed up with Fusion Deployment. He revealed Granguignol the Dusk Dragon, and Special Summoned Blazing Cartesia, the Virtuous from his Deck. He activated Cartesia’s effect, fusing it with Aluber to play Granguignol. He added Albion the Shrouded Dragon to his hand via Branded Lost, and sent Garura, Wings of Resonant Life to the Graveyard with Granguignol. Garura let him draw Tri-Brigade Mercourier. Granguignol destroyed Rosenstein’s Aluber in battle. In Main Phase 2, Hernandez played Branded Fusion, sending Fallen of Albaz and Dark Magician from his Deck to the Graveyard to play Lubellion the Searing Dragon, which discarded Tragedy for its effect. He fused Dark Magician and Fallen of Albaz into Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon! He activated Albion the Shrouded Dragon from his hand, sending Branded Retribution to the Graveyard, and drew Dark Magician. He banished Branded Retribution to return Branded Fusion to his hand. In the End Phase, he used Cartesia’s effect to return itself to his hand, and Rosenstein responded with Bystial Saronir to banish it first, but Hernandez negated it with Mercourier. Still in the End Phase, Rosenstein flipped Branded Opening, and it was negated by Dragoon, discarding Dark Magician. Rosenstein then used Magnamhut, banishing Aluber to Special Summon it. Its effect activated when Summoned, and Hernandez used Granguignol to replace itself with Despian Proskenion. Magnamhut’s effect added The Bystial Lubellion to Rosenstein’s hand.

Rosenstein used The Bystial Lubellion right away, adding Saronir to his hand. He used its effect to banish Dark Magician and Special Summon Saronir. He then Special Summoned The Bystial Lubellion, Tributing Saronir, and its effect put Branded Lost on the field. He played Branded Fusion, and Hernandez responded with Dragoon, discarding Fallen of Albaz, but Branded Fusion couldn’t be negated due to Branded Lost! Rosenstein sent Fallen of Albaz and Despian Tragedy to the Graveyard to play Lubellion. With Lost, he searched for Cartesia, and with Tragedy he got Aluber. Lubellion discarded a Saronir to fuse it with Fallen of Albaz for Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon! He Normal Summoned Aluber next, searching for Branded in Red. He used that, returning Tragedy to his hand, and fused it with Aluber and The Bystial Lubellion for Guardian Chimera! He drew a card and destroyed Proskenion and Branded Lost on Hernandez’s side. Mirrorjade then banished Dragoon. In the Battle Phase, he Special Summoned Bystial Druiswurm. That gave him enough damage to end the Duel!

Duel 2

Hernandez started this time with Branded Fusion, Dark Magician, Branded Banishment, Neo-Spacian Aqua Dolphin, and Gold Sarcophagus. He used Gold Sarcophagus to banish Despian Tragedy, and Tragedy’s effect put Aluber in his hand. He Normal Summoned Aqua Dolphin, discarding Dark Magician, revealing Rosenstein’s hand with no monsters. Now that he knew his opponent had no interaction, he played Branded Fusion. It sent Ra’s Disciple and Fallen of Albaz to Fusion Summon Albion the Branded Dragon. Its effect banished Fallen of Albaz and Dark Magician from his Graveyard for Lubellion the Searing Dragon. Lubellion discarded Aluber to fuse Albion with his banished Fallen of Albaz, for Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon. Mirrorjade’s effect banished Aqua Dolphin, sending an Albion from his Extra Deck. He Set Branded Banishment, and Albion’s effect Set Branded Expulsion.

Rosenstein used Super Polymerization in his Draw Phase! He discarding Branded Expulsion, and fused Hernandez’s Mirrorjade and Lubellion into Predaplant Dragostapelia! Hernandez flipped Branded Banishment, but Rosenstein responded with Crossout Designator to negate it! Rosenstein used Branded Opening, discarding Mercourier to Special Summon Aluber, which added Branded in Red to his hand. He played Branded Fusion, sending The Bystial Lubellion and Fallen of Albaz to play Albion the Branded Dragon. He activated Albion’s effect to Fusion Summon yet again, and wiped out Hernandez’s Life Points!
