May 28th, 2023

Hani Jawhari from Metairie, Louisianna is a two-time YCS champion. Now he’s facing off against William Rodriguez from New Britain, Connecticut in our Round 10 Feature Match! Rodriguez hasn’t yet taken home a YCS trophy, but he has made it into the Top Cut of a couple YCS tournaments and World Championship Qualifier tournaments. Both of these Duelists currently have 7-2 records, so a win in this Swiss Round is important to both of them. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Jawhari opened up Duel 1 with Book of Moon, Purrelyeap!?, Purrely Sleepy Memory, Purrely Happy Memory, and Purrely Pretty Memory.

Hani Jawhari

He started off his turn by activating Sleepy Memory and Rodriguez Chained Dimension Shifter’s effect from his hand! Jawhari banished Happy Memory from his hand to Special Summon Purrely and used its effect to add My Friend Purrely to his hand from the top 3 cards of his Deck. He activated it and then paid 500 Life Points to reveal 3 copies of Purrely Delicious Memory from his Deck and add one of them to his hand. He then used Purrely’s effect to Xyz Summon Epurrely Beauty with the Pretty Memory from his hand attached as an Xyz Material. Jawhari Set the rest of the cards in his hand face-down in his back row and then ended his turn.

Rodriguez drew a card for his turn and then ended his turn with no play!

Jawhari drew My Friend Purrely and activated the effect of the one on his field by paying 500 Life Points. Jawhari Chained his face-down Delicious Memory and discarded My Friend Purrely to Special Summon Purrely from his Deck. He revealed 3 copies of Purrelyly with the effect of My Friend Purrely and added one of them to his hand. He activated the effect of the Purrely he had just Summoned but excavated 3 non-Purrely cards with its effect, and then Normal Summoned Purrelyly. He activated its effect, but Rodriguez activated Infinite Impermanence from his hand to negate it. Next, Rodriguez Xyz Summoned Sylvan Princessprite by combining Purrely and Purrelyly and used its effect. He excavated Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring from the top of his Deck with its effect and sent it to his Graveyard. He attacked directly with Beauty and Princessprite, dropping Rodriguez down to 4600 Life Points. He Xyz Summoned Zeus over Princessprite in Main Phase 2 and then ended his turn.

Rodriguez drew a card and conceded.

“I’m going to assume you’re playing Kashtira,” Jawhari told him.

“I didn’t even play a card,” Rodriguez responded.

“That’s how I know you’re playing Kashtira,” Jawhari told him. Purrely Duelist Hani Jawhari seemed to be underwhelmed by the consistency of Kashtira Decks.

The Duelists dipped into their Side Decks and Duel 2 quickly began!

Duel Two

Rodriguez started off Duel 2 by Special Summoning Kashtira Unicorn. He activated Kashtiratheosis and Chained the effect of Dimension Shifter from his hand. He Special Summoned Kashtira Fenrir from his Deck with the effect of Kashtiratheosis and then used Unicorn’s effect to add Kashtira Birth to his hand. Next, he used Fenrir’s effect to add Kashtira Riseheart to his hand and Special Summoned it to his field. He combined Unicorn and Fenrir to Xyz Summon Kashtira Shangri-Ira and then used Riseheart’s effect. He banished Kashtira Big Bang from his Deck along with the top 3 cards of Jawhari’s Deck face-down and blocked one of Jawhari’s Main Monster Zones. He used Big Bang’s effect to return the Fenrir attached to Shangri-Ira to his hand and Special Summon it. Next, he Xyz Summoned Number 89: Diablosis the Mind Hacker and then Xyz Summoned Kashtira Arise-Heart over Shangri-Ira. He used Diablosis’s effect to banish Epurrely Happiness from Jawhari’s Extra Deck face-down and then used the effects of Diablosis and Arise-Heart. He banished 4 more cards from Jawhari’s Deck face-down and used Arise-Heart’s effect again, attaching Big Bang to Arise-Heart as an Xyz Material. Rodriguez Set a card to his back row before passing his turn.

Jawhari opened up Duel 2 with Triple Tactics Thrust, Lightning Storm, Purrely Delicious Memory, My Friend Purrely, and Purrelyly. He drew another Delicious Memory for his turn and then used Lightning Storm to take down Rodriguez’s face-down Infinite Impermanence. Arise-Heart’s effect activated to gain an Xyz Material and Jawhari was then able to activated Triple Tactics Thrust. Rodriguez Chained the effect of Arise-Heart to banish the Thrust face-down and Jawhari added Triple Tactics Talents to his hand. Rodriguez activated the effects of Arise-Heart, Diablosis, Kashtiratheosis, and Kashtira Big Bang. He returned Fenrir to his hand and Special Summoned it, return a banished Unicorn to his hand, banished the top 9 cards of Jawhari’s Deck face-down, and then attached Kashtiratheosis to Arise-Heart as an Xyz Material. In a new Chain he attached Big Bang to Arise-Heart with Arise-Heart’s effect. Jawhari activated My Friend Purrely next and paid 500 Life Points to reveal Happy Memory, Pretty Memory, and Sleepy Memory from his Deck. He randomly added Sleepy Memory to his hand and then activated it. He banished Purrelyly from his hand to Special Summon Purrely from his Deck and used its effect. He excavated 3 cards from the top of his Deck, but none of them were Spells. Fenrir’s effect activated to banish the Purrely face-down and Arise-Heart gained an Xyz Material. Jawhari activated Triple Tactics Talents to take control of Arise-Heart next, and then Arise-Heart’s effect gave it another Xyz Material. Jawhari switched Arise-Heart into Attack Position and then attacked Fenrir to destroy it. He used Arise-Heart’s effect to gain another Xyz Material and then Xyz Summoned Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS – Sky Thunder in Defense Position with 8 Xyz Materials attached! Jawhari ended his turn with all of his hopes of winning the Duel riding on that Zeus!

Rodriguez Tributed Zeus to Summon Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju to Jawhari’s field and Jawhari immediately conceded.

The Match is moving on to a third and final Duel, and Jawhari chose to go second in Duel 3!

Duel Three

Rodriguez started off Duel 3 by Special Summoning Kashtira Unicorn from his hand and activating Kashtiratheosis to Special Summon Kashtira Fenrir from his Deck.

He used Unicorn’s effect to add Kashtira Birth to his hand and then used Fenrir’s effect to add Scareclaw Kashtira to his hand. He activated Pressured Planet Wraitsoth next, and used its effect to add another Kashtira Unicorn from his Deck to his hand. He Special Summoned Riseheart from his hand next, and then combined Fenrir and Unicorn to Xyz Summon Shangri-Ira. He used Riseheart’s effect next, banishing Kashtira Big Bang from his Deck. Jawhari banished the top 3 cards of his Deck face-down, and Rodriguez used the effect of Shangri-Ira and Big Bang. He Special Summoned a Unicorn and made one of Jawhari’s Main Monster Zones unusable. Next, Rodriguez Xyz Summoned Diablosis and then Xyz Summoned Arise-Heart over Shangri-Ira. He used Diablosis’s effect to banish Zeus from Jawhari’s Extra Deck face-down and then used the effects of Arise-Heart and Diablosis. Jawhari banished 4 more cards from the top of his Deck face-down, and Rodriguez attached another Xyz Material to Arise-Heart. Rodriguez Set a card to his back row before passing his turn.

Jawhari drew Nibiru, the Primal Being and added it to his hand of Infinite Impermanence, Triple Tactics Thrust, Book of Moon, Purrely Happy Memory, and Purrelyly. He drew Nibiru, the Primal Being for his turn. He activated Book of Moon targeting Arise-Heart and Rodriguez Chained the effect of Arise-Heart to banish the Book of Moon face-down. Diablosis’s effect triggered after Arise-Heart went face-down and Jawhari banished 9 more cards from the top of his Deck face-down. Jawhari activated Triple Tactics Thrust next in order to add Lightning Storm to his hand. He activated it to destroy Rodriguez’s Wraitsoth and face-down Book of Moon. Next, Jawhari Normal Summoned Purrelyly and used its effect to add My Friend Purrely to his hand. He activated it and paid 500 Life Points to use its effect. He revealed Sleepy Memory, Delicious Memory, and Pretty Memory from his Deck and randomly added the Delicious Memory to his hand. He activated it to make Diablosis unable to be destroyed by battle and then discarded Nibiru from his hand to Special Summon Purrely from his Deck. He used its effect, but missed out on adding a card to his hand. Next, he upgraded Purrelyly to Epurrely Plump by attaching Delicious Memory from the Graveyard to it as an Xyz Material. Then, he attached Happy Memory from his hand to Purrely in order to Xyz Summon Epurrely Happiness over it with Purrely’s effect. He used Plump’s effect to attach 2 more Xyz Materials to it from the Graveyard. Happiness attacked the face-down Arise-Heart and Jawhari lost some Life Points but was able to use Happiness’s effect to add Happy Memory to his hand and halve the ATK of Diablosis. He attacked Diablosis with Happiness again since the Happy Memories attached as an Xyz Material gave it extra attacks, this time adding Delicious Memory to his hand and halving Diablosis’s stats again. He did it again a third time, grabbing a Delicious Memory from his Deck to add to his hand. He activated the Delicious Memory and attached it to Plump, increasing Plump’s ATK to 5600. He used Plump to attack the Diablosis that had 350 ATK as a result of its ATK being halved three times, inflicting 5250 points of battle damage to Rodriguez and dropping his Life Points down to 850. In Main Phase 2, Jawhari Xyz Summoned Expurrely Noir and Downerd Magician, and then Xyz Summoned Zeus over Downerd Magician.

Rodriguez drew a card and Jawhari activated the effect of his Plump to return Arise-Heart to the Extra Deck. Rodriguez then conceded, unable to take down Expurrely Noir and Zeus.

Hani Jawhari advances with an 8-2 record using his Purrely Deck!
