Jose Alicea from Jersey City, New Jersey and Cody Morris from Columbus, Ohio are both currently undefeated and facing off against one another in this Round 2 Feature Match! Alicea is using his favorite Deck type of all time – Dinosaurs! He’s looking forward to the release of the new Dinosaur support in the upcoming Wild Survivors Booster Set, and even though he can’t yet use those cards this weekend, he’s exciting to be competing with a Dinosaur Deck here at YCS Philadelphia! His opponent, Cody Morris, is using a Mathmech Deck. Only one of these Duelists can advance in the tournament with a 2-0 record after this, and we’re about to find out who it’ll be. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Alicea opened up Duel 1 with Souleating Oviraptor, Babycerasaurus, Fossil Dig, and 2 copies of PSY-Framegear Gamma.

He started off by activating Fossil Dig to add Miscellaneousaurus to his hand and Morris activated Droll & Lock Bird; but Morris activated the effect of the Gamma in his hand to Special Summon it along with a PSY-Frame Driver from his Deck and negate the activation of Droll & Lock Bird! Next, he activated the effect of the Miscellaneousaurus in his hand and banished it from his Graveyard to Special Summon Animadorned Archosaur. He activated its effect to destroy the Babycerasaurus from his hand and add Double Evolution Pill from his Deck to his hand. Next, he used Babycerasaurus’s effect to Special Summon an Oviraptor from his Deck and used Oviraptor’s effect to add Babycerasaurus from his Deck to his hand. He then Tuned Gamma with Driver to Synchro Summon PSY-Framelord Omega and used Oviraptor’s effect to destroy the Babycerasaurus on his field and Special Summon another Babycerasaurus. He used the effect of the destroyed Babycerasaurus to Special Summon Scrap Raptor from his Deck and used its effect to destroy the Babycerasaurus on his field. He used the Babycerasaurus’s effect to Special Summon another Babycerasaurus from his Deck and then Link Summoned Scrap Wyvern. He used Wyvern’s effect to Special Summon Scrap Raptor and used his Wyvern to destroy the Raptor. He used the effects of the Raptor and Wyvern to add Scrap Chimera to his hand and Special Summon another Scrap Raptor. He used the newly Summoned Raptor’s effect to destroy his on-field Babycerasaurus and used his Babycerasaurus’s effect to Special Summon Giant Rex from his Deck. Next, he used Omega’s effect to banish it along with a Mathmech Subtraction from Morris’s hand. Alicea used his extra Normal Summon from the Wyvern to Summon Scrap Chimera and used Chimera’s effect to Special Summon Scrap Raptor. He sent Wyvern and Chimera to the Graveyard to Link Summon Reprodocus linked to his Archosaur. He used Reprodocus’s effect to make the Archosaur EARTH-Attribute, and then Tuned it with Scrap Raptor to Synchro Summon Naturia Beast. Next, he Tuned Giant Rex and Scrap Raptor to Synchro Summon Borreload Savage Dragon. He activated its effect, but Morris Chained the effect of Nibiru, the Primal Being! Nibiru cleared the field of everything except the Reprodocus, which was protected by the effect of Miscellaneousaurus! Alicea got a Primal Being Token with 5200 ATK and 4200 DEF in place of his other monsters! Alicea activated Double Evolution Pill next by banishing Giant Rex and Scrap Chimera, Special Summoning Ultimate Conductor Tyranno, and then Special Summoned his banished Giant Rex. Next, he Link Summoned PSY-Framelord Lambda and passed his turn.

Despite disrupting Alicea’s first turn with Nibiru, Alicea was able to take down the first Duel!

Duel Two

Morris started off Duel 1 by Normal Summoning Mathmech Diameter and using it to Link Summon Linguriboh.

He activated the effect of the Parallel eXceed in his hand to Special Summon it, and then used the Parallel eXceed’s effect to Special Summon a second copy from his Deck. Next, he combined both copies of Parallel eXceed to Xyz Summon Mathmech Alembertian. He activated its effect by detaching both Xyz Materials from it, prompting Alicea to activate the effect of the PSY-Framegear Gamma in his hand; but Morris Chained Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion to negate the Gamma’s effect and keep it in Alicea’s hand. Morris added Mathmech Circular to his hand with the effect of Alembertian and then sent his two monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon Splash Mage. He used its effect to try to Special Summon Splash Mage, but Alicea activated Gamma’s effect once again! He negated the activation of Splash Mage’s effect and destroyed it, simultaneously Special Summoning PSY-Frame Driver from his Deck! Next, Morris activated the effect of the Circular in his hand to Special Summon it and send Mathmech Sigma from his Deck to his Graveyard. He used Sigma’s effect to Special Summon it and then used Circular’s effect to add Mathmech Superfactorial from his Deck to his hand. He combined his monsters to Xyz Summon another Alembertian and then used its effect to Tribute it and Special Summon Mathmech Circular from his Graveyard. He Set 2 cards to his back row and then passed his turn. In the End Phase, Alicea banished Gamma and Driver from his field.

Alicea drew a card to add a Babycerasaurus to his hand of Petiteranodon, Oviraptor, and 2 Archosaur. He Summoned an Archosaur and activated its effect. He destroyed a Babycerasaurus from his hand to add Double Evolution Pill from his Deck to his hand and then activated the effect of Babycerasaurus; but Morris Chained Called by the Grave to banish Babycerasaurus and negate its effect! Morris simply passed his turn, devastated by the Called by the Grave!

Morris activated the effect of the Sigma in his Graveyard to Special Summon it and then used Circular’s effect to add Mathmech Equation from his Deck to his hand. Next, he Link Summoned Splash Mage and used its effect to Special Summon Parallel eXceed from his Graveyard. He Normal Summoned Sigma next and Link Summoned Update Jammer. He Link Summoned Transcode Talker next, and Update Jammer’s effect allowed Transcode Talker to attack twice. Next, he used Transcode Talker’s effect to Special Summon Update Jammer, and used his two monsters to Link Summon Accesscode Talker. Accesscode Talker gained ATK with its effect and was allowed to attack twice due to the effect of Update Jammer. Two attacks from Accesscode Talker wiped out all of Morris’s Life Points!

The Match is going on to a third and final Duel!

Duel Three

Alicea chose to allow Morris to go first in Duel 3!

Morris started off the third Duel by activating the effect of the Circular in his hand.

He Special Summoned it and sent Mathmech Sigma from his Deck to his Graveyard. He Normal Summoned Diameter and used the effects of Diameter and Circular. Diameter’s effect Special Summoned Sigma from his Graveyard and Circular’s effect added Mathmech Superfactorial from his Deck to his hand. He combined Sigma with Diameter to Xyz Summon Alembertian and then detached both Xyz Materials from it to activate its effect and add Mathmech Subtraction from his Deck to his hand. Morris activated the effect of Sigma in his Graveyard to Special Summon it and then Special Summoned Mathmech Addition from his hand with Addition’s effect. Next, Morris used Circular and Sigma to Link Summon Splash Mage and used Splash Mage’s effect to Special Summon Circular from his Graveyard. Morris used Splash Mage and Circular to Link Summon Transcode Talker and then used Transcode Talker’s effect to Special Summon Splash Mage. Next, he Link Summoned Decode Talker Heatsoul by using Splash Mage and Addition as Link Materials, and used Heatsoul’s effect to pay 1000 Life Points and draw a card. He used Alembertian, Transcode, and Subtraction to Link Summon Firewall Dragon Darkfluid – Neo Tempest Terahertz. He used its effect to send Cyberse Desavewurm to his Graveyard and increase Darkfluid’s ATK by 2500. He Set a card to his back row before passing his turn.

Alicea opened up Duel 3 with Babycerasaurus, Lost World, Ultimate Conductor Tyranno, and 2 copies of Forbidden Droplet. He drew Giant Rex from his turn and then activated Lost World. He Normal Summoned Babycerasaurus and used Lost World’s effect to give Morris a Jurrac Token. Morris Chained Superfactorial and then Chained the effect of Heatsoul to pay 1000 Life Points and draw a card. He Special Summoned Circular, Subtraction, and Diameter, and used them to Xyz Summon Primathmech Laplacean. He activated its effect by detaching all 3 Xyz Materials after getting the Token and Alicea Chained Forbidden Droplet! He sent a Droplet and a Giant Rex from his hand to his Graveyard to negate the effects of Laplacean and Darkfluid. Babycerasaurus attacked the Jurrac Token and Alicea protected it by destroying Babycerasaurus from his Deck. He used Babycerasaurus’s effect to Special Summon Oviraptor from his Deck. He used Oviraptor’s effect to add Miscellaneousaurus to his hand. Next, he used Oviraptor’s effect to try to destroy his Babycerasaurus, and when Morris Chained the effect of Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion, Alicea Chained the effect of Miscellaneousaurus from his hand! He resolved the effect of Oviraptor and activated the effect of Babycerasaurus, but lost out to Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Next, Alicea banished Miscellaneousaurus from his Graveyard to Special Summon Archosaur from his Deck and used its effect to destroy Babycerasaurus and add Double Evolution Pill to his hand. He Special Summoned Scrap Raptor and used Scrap Raptor’s effect to destroy the Scrap Raptor and add Scrap Chimera from his Deck to his hand and gain an extra Normal Summon. He Summoned it and used its effect to Special Summon Scrap Raptor back to his field. Next, he linked Chimera and Archosaur together to Link Summon Scrap Wyvern and used the Wyvern’s effect to Special Summon Scrap Chimera. He destroyed the Chimera and used the Wyvern’s other effect to Special Summon another Raptor from his Deck and destroy Darkfluid. Next, he Special Summoned Ultimate Conductor Tyranno by banishing Giant Rex and Archosaur from his Graveyard and used the Rex’s effect to Special Summon it back to the field. He sent Raptor and Wyvern to the Graveyard to Link Summon PSY-Framelord Lambda and then Tuned Giant Rex with Scrap Raptor to Synchro Summon Borreload Savage Dragon. He used the Savage Dragon’s effect to equip it with Scrap Wyvern. Next, he activated Double Evolution Pill and banished two Dinosaurs from his Graveyard to Special Summon Dinowrestler Pankratops from his Deck. He Tributed the Pankratops to destroy Heatsoul and then passed his turn.

Morris drew a card and then Special Summoned Santa Claws to Alicea’s field by Tributing Ultimate Conductor Tyranno. He then tried to Special Summon Subtraction from his hand by targeting his Token, and Alicea used his Savage Dragon’s effect to negate the activation of Subtraction’s effect. Morris activated Triple Tactics Talents to take control of Borreload Savage Dragon next, and then Normal Summoned Subtraction. He sent Subtraction to the Graveyard to Link Summon Salamangreat Almiraj and then entered his Battle Phase! He attacked Oviraptor with Savage Dragon, destroying Oviraptor and dealing 1550 points of damage to Alicea’s Life Points. Next, Laplacean attacked and destroyed Lambda, dropping Alicea down to 6150 LP. Time in the round was called, and at the end of the Battle Phase, Alicea was up 6150 LP to 6000 Life Points, because Alicea had paid 2000 Life Points to use Heatsoul’s effect twice earlier in the Duel!
