Round 4 Feature Match: Pakawat Pamornsut Versus Alex Klauger

We have a doozy of a match up this Round! Fan-favorite creator Pakawat “Pak” Pamornsut is here piloting his Purrely Deck, fresh off of a Top 16 finish at the YCS in Santiago, Chile. He’s facing Alex Klauger from Landsdale Pennsylvania, armed with his Traptrix Deck. Both Duelists are eager to get the Match started, and didn’t want to waste any time getting into Game 1! 

Pak opens with Expurrely Noir on Turn 1!

Pamornsut started with a hand of Purrely Delicious MemoryDroll & Lock BirdMy Friend PurrelyNibiru, the Primal Being and Purrely Sleepy Memory. He started with Purrely Sleepy Memory first, preventing himself from taking damage, and he discarded Droll & Lock Bird to Summon Purrelyly, adding Purrelyeap?! to his hand. Pamornsut activated Purrely Delicious Memory next discarding Nibiru, the Primal Being to Summon Purrely

Purrely’s effect revealed Triple Tactics TalentPurrely Happy Memory, and another Delicious Memory. Pamornsut took the Happy Memory and finally entered his Main Phase. He activated My Friend Purrely, then used Purrelyly’s effect to Summon Epurrely Plump with the in-Graveyard copy of Purrely Delicous Memory. He used My Friend Purrely next, revealing 2 copies of Purrely Sleepy Memory and another Delicious Memory: Pamornsut took the Delicious Memory and activated it, chaining Epurrely Plump to attach the Delicious Memory as material, then discarded his Happy Memory to Summon another Purrely

His luck ran a little dry at that point: Purrely didn’t reveal anything useful, and he pressed on overlaying the 2 copies of Purrely to make a Sylvan Princesssprite, excavating the top card and revealing Purrely Pretty Memory. He used Plump to attach Happy Memory and Sleepy Memory, giving it 5 materials. He proceeded to activate Pretty Memory giving both Duelists 1000 Life Points, and he attached it to Plump as material. Pamornsut then Summoned Expurrely Noir with 7 Xyz Materials under it. With that, play was over to Klauger. What a turn! 

During Klauger’s Standby Phase, Pamornsut drew another Purrely Delicious Memory thanks to Expurrely Noir. Kkauger began with Gadarla, the Mystery Dust Kaiju Tributing the Noir, which allowed Pamornsut to get back Purrely Happy MemoryPurrely Delicious Memory and Purrely Pretty Memory to his hand with My Friend Purrely. Klauger Summoned Traptrix Mantis and got Traptrix Dionaea with its effect. He activated Traptrip Garden next, and Link Summoned Traptrix Sera using Traptrix Mantis. Then he Summoned Traptrix Myrmeleo, fetchnig Floodgate Trap Hole

Klauger activated Traptrix Holeutea, discarding the freshly searched Floodgate Trap Hole. He used Sera, Summoning Dionaea to Set the Floodate Trap Hole again. Klauger used Traptrix Sera to Set Traptrix Trap Hole Nightmare, then used Myrmeleo and Holeutea to Link Summon Knightmare Phoenix. He discarded Dionaea to destroy My Friend Purrely and drew another card. He sent Sera and Phoenix to the Graveyard to Link Summon Traptrix Atypus, and he Linked the Dionaea into another Traptrix Sera. Klauger attacked and cleared Pamornsut’s field, and play was back to Pamornsut. 

Pamonsut drew Nibiru, the Primal Being, and in his Draw Phase he activated Purrely Delicious Memory, targeting Klauger’s Traptrix Atypus so it couldn’t be destroyed by battle. Pamornsut discarded his Nibiru, the Primal Being to Summon Purrely from his Deck, only to be met with Floodgate Trap Hole in response to Purrely’s effect on Summon.  Pamornsut Chained Purrely Delicious Memory to the Floodgate, but Klauger had Ash blossom & Joyous Spring, to which Pamornsut chained Purrely Happy Memory targeting his face-down. He discarded Purrely Delicious Memory to Summon Purrelyly

Pamornsut got Purrely Pretty Memory with Purrely’s effect from the previous Chain, and Pamornsut activated Purrelyly as Chain Link 1 in a new Chain, with Sera as link 2, Summoning Traptrix Myremeleo from his Deck. Purrelyly resolved, getting Pamornsut a copy of My Friend Purrely, and Traptrix Myrmeleo activated, only to destroy nothing. Klauger activated Traptrix Sera next, Setting another Traptrix Holeutea from his Deck, and we were finally heading to the Main Phase. 

My Friend Purrely let Pamornsut pay 500 Life Points, revealing 2 Purrely Happy Memory and a copy of Purrelyly. Pak took Happy Memory. Purrelyly’s effect was next, targeting Purrely Delicious Memory, allowing Klauger to use Traptrix Trap Hole Nightmare. Pamornsut used Purrely Happy Memory to save the Purrelyly! He Summoned another Purrelyly and used both to Summon Slacker Magician

Klauger activated his Traptrix Holeutea from the Graveyard to Summon Traptrix Mantis in Defense Position, and Pamornsut attacked into Traptrix Sera with Slacker Magician. In Main Phase 2 he Summoned Downerd Magician, then Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS – Sky Thunder with 4 Xyz Materials. In his End phase, he cleared the field with the effect of ZEUS, prompting Klauger to activate Mantis to return his Set copy of Traptrix Holeutea to his hand. 

Klauger drew for turn and activated Pot of Prosperity, banishing 6 cards and adding Parallel eXceed to his hand. Klauger Set 1 and in the End Phase, Pamornsut used Purrelyeap?! to return 3 Purrelyly to his Deck.

Pamornsut was up and drew Infinite Impermanence before immediately attacking for 3000 with Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS – Sky Thunder and passing.  Quick turn!

Klauger Summoned Traptrix Pudica and grabbed another Traptrip Garden, activating it and using its effect, banishing Traptrix Pudica as cost. He Summoned Traptrix Atypus, which was immediately met with Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS – Sky Thunder clearing the field once again! Another face-down ended Klauger’s turn. 

Pamornsut was up, drawing Triple Tactics Talent and attacking for another 3000 with Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS – Sky Thunder. He Summoned a second Zeus over the first, Set a card and passed.

Klauger drew for his turn and visibly considered his plays, before passing back to Pamornsut… Who drew Book of Moon! Pamornsut attacked with his Zeus, and Klauger was forced to activate Traptrix Holeutea to keep himself in the Duel. Pamornsut attacked the Defense Position Holeutea, Set his Book of Moon, and ended. 

Klauger drew for turn, checked his Graveyard, and tried desperately to find some sort of line of play. He proceeded to the Battle Phase and activated Evenly Matched! Pamornsut banished his Set Book of Moon and Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS – Sky Thunder, and Klauger moved to Main Phase 2. Klauger activated Traptrix Holeutea from the Graveyard next, Summoned back Traptrix Myrmeleo, and traded its effect with Pamornsut’s Set Infinite Impermanence to finish out.

Pamornsut drew another Book of Moon for turn and passed.

Klauger drew, attacked with Traptrix Myrmeleo, and passed. 

Pamornsut drew another Infinite Impermanence and passed. 

Klauger drew, Summoned Traptrix Pudica, then attacked both monsters. In Main Phase 2, Klauger Xyz Summoned Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir before ending. 

Pamornsut drew another Triple Tactics Talent for turn, seemingly out of steam.

Klauger was up, and detached Traptrix Pudica from Bagooska. He switched it to Attack Position and attacked with it, then Summoned his own copy of Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS – Sky Thunder.

Pamornsut drew Purrely Sleepy Memory, activated it and discarded Triple Tactics Talent to Summon Purrelyly.He activated Purrelyly, but Krauger had Infinite Impermanence. He Summoned Relinquished Anima in his Main Phase, threatening to end the game! When the Anima hit the field Klauger was forced to use his Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS – Sky Thunder, clearing the table, which allowed Pamornsut to use his last Triple Tactics Talent to take the ZEUS and attack for game.

After a grueling and tedious grind game, Pamornsut is victorious in Game 1! During Sde Decking, both Duelists discussed how intense that game was. 

Klauger chose to go first in Game 2, kicking it off by Setting 2 cards to his Spell and Trap Card Zone and passing. Pamornsut was up.

Pamornsut had a hand of 2 Infinite Impermanence, 2 Purrely Sleepy MemoryNibiru, the Primal Being and Purrely. He normal Summoned Purrely, and in response to the effect Klauger had Floodgate Trap Hole,Pamornsut activated Purrely Sleepy Memory, discarded Impermanence, and Summoned Purrelyly. He got Purrely Happy Memory with Purrely, and Purrelyly added My Friend Purrely. He played it, and paid 500 Life Points to reveal 3 copies of Purrely Delicious Memory, taking 1 of them. He activated Delicious Memory, discarding Purrely Sleepy Memory to Summon another Purrely, which got him My Friend Purrely. Pamornsut Linked Purrelyly and Purrely to make Protector of the Agents – Moon, attacking with it for 1800 damage. He Set 1 and play was back to Klauger. 

Klauger drew, then went to the Battle Phase and activated Evenly Matched. Pamornsut considered his options a moment before banishing everything but his face-down Infinite Impermanence. Klauger Set 2 and ended.

Pamornsut was up and drew another My Friend Purrely, which got him Purrelyly. This time Klauger had the Droll & Lock Bird to shut down Pamornsut’s remaining searches for the turn. Pamornsut Summoned Purrelyly, and used its effect targeting Purrely Delicious Memory to Xyz Summon. When Pamornsut activated Epurrely Plump’seffect, Klauger chained Traptrix Trap Hole Nightmare! S

ince Pamornsut’s Xyz was destroyed, My Friend Purrely got him Purrely Sleepy Memory and Purrely Happy Memory. He activated Sleepy Memory discarding My Friend Purrely. He Summoned Purrely and ran into Infinite Impermanence in response. He pressed on, activating Happy Memory to Summon Purrelyly, and used both monsters to Summon Sylvan Princessprite. Pamornsut attacked for 1800 damage with the Princessprite, then Summoned Downerd Magician and Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS – Sky Thunder.

Klauger drew Pot of Prosperity, banishing 6 cards and trying to dig for an answer to Pamonsut’s field. He revealed 2 copies of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, 2 Traptrix Myrmeleo and 2 Spell Cards, deciding to grab Myrmeleo. Klauger Summoned his monster and got shut down by Infinite Impermanence, then ended his turn. 

Pamornsut was up and drew My friend Purrely. He activated the on-field copy and added Purrely Happy Memoryto his hand. He attacked the Traptrix Myrmeleo with Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS – Sky Thunder and then Summoned ANOTHER ZEUS over the first, before Setting a card to finish out. 

Klauger drew another Pot of Prosperity and banished 6 more cards for it, desperately trying to stay in the Match. He took Traptrix Dionaea and Normal Summoned it, Special Summoning back Myrmeleo to destroy the face-down Purrely Happy Memory. Pamornsut activated Zeus’s effect, attaching Purrelyeap?! as a material since a card was destroyed. Pamornsut detached it to clear the field. Purrelyeap?! returned 2 copies of Purrelyly and 1 Purrely to his Deck, and Pamornsut drew another copy of Triple Tactics Talent for turn, before attacking with Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS – Sky Thunder for game! 

Despite his best efforts, Alex Klauger can’t overcome the steady power of the Purrely Deck, and Pakawat Pormonsut moves on undefeated!
