Round 1 Feature Match: John Wilkin vs. Kylar Price
Welcome to our first Feature Match of the Remote Duel Extravaganza! We’re kicking things off with John Wilkin, from Toronto, ON, playing Purrely. Wilkin has proven his skills with many YCS Top Cut finishes, including 2nd Place at TEAM YCS Las Vegas earlier this year. His opponent is Kylar Price, from Cassville, MO, using Mikanko!
Duel 1
Price won the die roll and chose to play second. Wilkin began with Purrely Sleepy Memory in his Draw Phase, discarding Purrelyly to Special Summon Purrely. Its effect failed to get him any cards, and Wilkin used Purrely Pretty Memory, discarding Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to Special Summon Purrelyly. Its effect added My Friend Purrely to his hand. He moved to the Main Phase, using Purrelyly with Sleepy Memory to Xyz Summon Epurrely Noir in Defense Position. He used My Friend, paying 500 Life Points to reveal 2 Sleepy Memory and 1 Pretty Memory from his Deck, getting one of them into his hand at random. He played Pretty Memory, and attached it to Noir, setting Purrelyeap!?. With Pretty Memory’s effect, he discarded Purrely Happy Memory and Special Summoned Purrely. Its effect put Sleepy Memory in his hand. He used both his Purrely to play Sylvan Princessprite in Defense Position. Its effect sent Nibiru, the Primal Being from the Deck to the Graveyard. He moved to the End Phase, and activated Sleepy Memory, attaching it to Noir. The Life Points stood at Wilkin’s 9500 to Price’s 10000, thanks to the Pretty Memories.
In Price’s Standby Phase, Wilkin used Epurrely Noir’s Sleepy effect twice to draw two cards. Then he flipped Purrelyeap!?, upgrading it into Expurrely Noir to do it twice more. Price used Preparation of Rites to add Ohime the Manifested Mikanko. Wilkin activated Droll & Lock Bird. Price activated Mikanko Reflection Rondo, trying to equip to Noir, and Wilkin used Noir to put Rondo on the bottom of the Deck. Price played Triple Tactics Talent to take a monster, and Wilkin responded with Noir’s effect to put Preparation of Rites on the bottom, leaving Noir with less Xyz Materials to be used against him. Price took Noir and sent it to attack Princessprite. He then used Noir to play Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS – Sky Thunder, using its effect to clear the field. In Main Phase 2, he equipped Zeus with Mikanko Water Arabesque, using its effect to put Zeus back in the Extra Deck and Special Summon Hu-Li the Jewel Mikanko. He played Mikanko Fire Dance to Special Summon Ni-Ni the Mirror Mikanko.
Wilkin played Stray Purrely Street, shutting down Ni-Ni. He played My Friend Purrely, paying 500 Life Points to reveal Purrely Delicious Memory, Sleepy Memory, and Pretty Memory, and got one of them to his hand at random. He played Pretty Memory, giving each player 1000 Life Points and discarding Effect Veiler to Special Summon Purrely. Its effect added Happy Memory to his hand. He then used Purrely and Happy Memory to Xyz Summon Epurrely Happiness. It attacked Hu-Li, and Wilkin took 2000 battle damage when the Mikanko reflected the damage. Happiness’s effect let him add Delicious Memory to his hand. He attacked again, taking another 2000 damage, and added Sleepy Memory to his hand. In Main Phase 2, he Xyz Summoned his own Zeus and wiped the field! He banished Purrelyeap!? from his Graveyard, shuffling back Purrely and 2 Purrelyly. He Normal Summoned Purrelyly, adding Stray Purrely Street to his hand. He activated Delicious Memory, discarding Street to Special Summon Purrely. Purrely’s effect added My Friend to his hand. He used Purrelyly’s effect with Delicious Memory to play Epurrely Plump in Defense Position, attaching two Sleepy Memories. He played his third Sleepy Memory and attached it to Plump. He used Plump to play Expurrely Noir in Defense Position.
In Price’s Standby Phase, he used Noir’s Sleepy effect to draw three cards! Price fired back by Tributing Noir to hand over Jizukiru, the Star Destroying Kaiju! He activated Ohime from his hand, adding Mikanko Water Arabesque. He played it on Jizukiru, bouncing it back to his hand to Special Summon Ha-Re the Sword Mikanko. Wilkin negated it with Effect Veiler.
Wilkin played My Friend Purrely, paying 500 Life Points to show 2 Purrelyly and a Street, getting one to his hand. He used Purrely’s effect with Happy Memory from his hand, for Epurrely Happiness. It attacked Ha-Re, taking 2000 damage and adding Street to his hand. In Main Phase 2, he Xyz Summoned Downerd Magician, then played the third Zeus of this Duel, clearing the field! He Normal Summoned Purrelyly, getting another Purrelyly to his hand, then used it with Pretty Memory to play Epurrely Beauty.
Price played Jizukiru again, Tributing Beauty. He Set one back row card.
Wilkin Normal Summoned Purrelyly with no effect. He used it with Pretty Memory for another Epurrely Beauty. He switched Zeus to Attack Position and attacked with Beauty, Zeus, and Jizukiru. He played Street. He used Beauty’s Pretty Memory effect, sending Street to the Graveyard to attach Price’s Set copy of The Great Mikanko Ceremony.
Price tried activating Preparation of Rites, and Wilkin secured his victory with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring!
Duel 2
Price chose to play second again. Wilkin played Sleepy Memory, discarding Infinite Impermanence to Special Summon Purrelyly. He used its effect to add Street to his hand. He activated Street, then used Purrelyly with Sleepy Memory for Epurrely Noir. He played My Friend, revealing 2 Sleepy and 1 Delicious, getting one of them to his hand. He played Sleepy Memory, attaching it to Noir and Setting Purrelyeap!? from his Deck. Sleepy Memory let him discard Triple Tactics Talent to Special Summon Purrely. With that, he added Happy Memory to his hand. In the End Phase, he used Street to attach another Sleepy Memory to Noir.
In the Standby Phase, he used Noir’s Sleepy effect to draw three cards, then used Purrelyeap!? to upgrade Noir into Expurrely Noir, using it three more times. Price used Pot of Extravagance, and Wilkin had Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Price used Triple Tactics Talent to draw two cards, and Wilkin also had Droll & Lock Bird! Price revealed his hand, with no way around the fully loaded Expurrely Noir and Wilkin’s fully refilled hand!
