We’ve got a Kashtira mirror Match, with Lars Bergquist, from Miami, FL, up against Gerardo Varela, from Stockton, CA. It’s time to Duel!
Duel 1
Bergquist won the dice roll and chose to play second. Varela started with Pressured Planet Wraitsoth, and Bergquist hit it with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Varela had Terraforming for another Wraitsoth, keeping that in his hand. He Special Summoned Fenrir, and it was negated by Bergquist’s Infinite Impermanence.
Bergquist had Terraforming, Kashtira Birth, and Triple Tactics Talent. He drew Dimension Shifter. He played Terraforming to get his own Wraitsoth, and played that to get Kashtira Fenrir to his hand. He Special Summoned Fenrir and used its effect to add Knightmare Unicorn to his hand. He played Birth, then Normal Summoned Unicorn. Unicorn searched for Kashtiratheosis, and he used that to Special Summon Scareclaw Kashtira. He moved to the Battle Phase, attacking with Fenrir and having its effect banish Varela’s Fenrir. Since the legal attack targets changed, a replay occurred and Fenrir attacked directly. Unicorn and Scareclaw Kashtira attacked directly as well, dealing 8100 total damage! Bergquist’s gambit to take the second turn paid off!
Duel 2
Varela chose to play first, despite the results of the last game. He must have Side Decked cards that would help more taking the first turn. He played Pot of Prosperity, banishing just three cards, and added Kashtira Unicorn to his hand. He Special Summoned Unicorn and it added Kashtiratheosis to his hand. He used that to Special Summon Fenrir, which added Kashtira Riseheart. He Special Summoned Riseheart, which also banished three cards from Bergquist’s Deck for its effect to become Level 7. He used all three monsters to play Kashtira Arise-Heart, then played Kashtira Birth to Special Summon Fenrir. He Normal Summoned Dinowrestler Pankratops through Birth’s effect and Set one back row card.
Bergquist had a hand of Scareclaw Kashtira, 2 Triple Tactics Talent, and 2 Kashtira Birth. He drew Infinite Impermanence. He started with Impermanence, targeting Pankratops. Varela was a bit surprised, but had no response. When Impermanence was banished by Arise-Heart, it attached Varela’s banished Garura, Wings of Resonant Life as a material. Bergquist played Triple Tactics Talent to take control of a monster. Varela responded with Arise-Heart to banish the Triple Tactics Talent, thus leaving itself with less than three Xyz Materials in case it was taken. Bergquist stole Fenrir instead, and Arise-Heart put PSY-Framelord Omega under itself as a material. The stolen Fenrir triggered, banishing Arise-Heart. The Xyz Material Garura hit the Graveyard, and Varela drew a card. Bergquist used the pilfered Fenrir to add Unicorn to his hand. He played Kashtira Birth and Normal Summoned Unicorn, but Varela had Book of Moon to flip Unicorn face-down. Bergquist activated Scareclaw Kashtira in his hand, banishing his spare Kashtira Birth to Special Summon it. He stacked it with Fenrir for Dark Armed, the Dragon of Annihilation, and sent it to destroy Pankratops in battle. Then, he used Dark Armed to play Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS – Sky Thunder!
Varela had Dark Ruler No More! He used Birth to Special Summon Fenrir, which added Scareclaw Kashtira to his hand. He Special Summoned it by banishing Kashtiratheosis from his Graveyard. Kashtiratheosis returned Riseheart to his hand, and he Special Summoned that, using its effect to make it Level 7. He stacked Riseheart and Scareclaw Kashtira for Number 11: Big Eye, stealing Zeus! Varela played Wraitsoth to get Unicorn, and played that to get another copy of Birth. He attacked with Fenrir, banishing Bergquist’s Kashtira Birth. He attacked with Unicorn next, banishing Big Eye from Bergquist’s Extra Deck. Zeus attacked directly. No damage was being dealt, due to Dark Ruler No More, but he was still triggering his Kashtira effects. In Main Phase 2, he used Bergquist’s Zeus to play his own Zeus! He Set a back row card.
Bergquist drew Infinite Impermanence. He used that to negate Fenrir, but it didn’t matter when his last card was Triple Tactics Talent. He had no plays, and conceded the Duel!
Duel 3
Bergquist chose to play second once again. Varela began by Normal Summoning Riseheart, banishing Unicorn for its effect to become Level 7. He then used Kashtira Birth to Special Summon Unicorn, which got Kashtiratheosis. He played that to Special Summon Fenrir, and added Scareclaw Kashtira to his hand. He used all three monsters to play Arise-Heart. He Set three cards in his back row and passed.
Bergquist had Pot of Prosperity, Pressured Planet Wraitsoth, Tearlaments Kashtira, and 2 Enemy Controller. He drew Kashtira Birth. He began with Pot of Prosperity, banishing 6 cards from his Extra Deck, and added Fenrir to his hand. Arise-Heart attached the Pot of Prosperity to itself. Bergquist Special Summoned Fenrir, and Varela played Book of Moon. Bergquist responded with Enemy Controller, Tributing Fenrir to steal Arise-Heart, but Varela had Solemn Judgment! Arise-Heart attached Bergquist’s Fenrir as a material. Bergquist played Kashtira Birth, then Normal Summoned Tearlaments Kashtira. He used its effect, banishing Enemy Controller, Wraitsoth, and Fenrir off the top of his Deck. Arise-Heart activated to attach the banished Fenrir, and Bergquist responded with his second Enemy Controller, Tributing Tearlaments Kashtira to take Arise-Heart! Varela opted to have Arise-Heart banish itself rather than be stolen. Bergquist played his last card, Wraitsoth, getting Unicorn. He Special Summoned it, and Varela negated its effect with Infinite Impermanence. Bergquist used Kashtira Birth to Special Summon Fenrir, which added Scareclaw Kashtira to his hand. He Special Summoned that and moved to his Battle Phase. Varela was down to 4000 Life Points, and Bergquist had 8100 total damage on the field – Varela offered the handshake!
Lars Bergquist is going to the finals with Kashtira!
