Round 10 Feature Match: Tayveon Crowley Versus Jack-Rory Steenkamer
We are here at the final Round of Swiss at YCS Vancouver! Both Duelists are 7-2 and the result of this Match will determine who makes it into the Top 32! Tayveon Crowley is from Knoxville, TN. Jack-Rory Steenkamer is from the Netherlands and just came back from Tokyo, Japan as a Yu-Gi-Oh! MASTER DUEL World Champion! Steenkamer is known in the online community by his MASTER DUEL username QuantalThink. Crowley is piloting Kashtira, a Deck that has been consistent throughout the tournament, while Steenkamer is running Rescue-ACE! Rescue-ACE is newer Deck that gained some awesome support in Duelist Nexus! The winner of this Match will lock in their spot in the Top 32 for this weekend.
Duel 1
Crowley won the dice roll and opted to start the Match.
Steenkamer started with Infinite Impermanence, Rescue-ACE Fire Engine, 2 Rescue-ACE Hydrant, and Pot of Prosperity.
Crowley started the Match off by Special Summoning Kashtira Unicorn. He attempted to use the effect but was stopped by Infinite Impermanence! Crowley thought for a moment before letting it go through. He Normal Summoned Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and Synchro Summoned Baronne de Fleur. Setting 1 card, he then passed his turn.
Steenkamer drew Triple Tactics Talent. He went to his Main Phase and banished 6 cards to activate Pot of Prosperity, but Crowley had his own Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! Steenkamer followed it up by Normal Summoning Rescue-ACE Hydrant and activated Rescue-ACE Fire Engine. Crowley chained Book of Moon to set the Hydrant and Engine was Summoned in Defense Position. Steenkamer passed his turn.
Crowley drew and used Baronne’s effect to destroy the Fire Engine. He activated Kashtira Birth and brought back his Kashtira Unicorn, using its effect to add Kashtiratheosis to his hand. He activated Kashtiratheosis and Special Summoned Kashtira Fenrir in Defense Position and then added Kashtira Riseheart to his hand with Fenrir’s effect.
Crowley activated Kashtira Riseheart’s effect to Special Summon it and then used the on-field effect by banishing a Kashtira Fenrir from the Deck. He Xyz Summoned Infinitrack Mountain Smasher by using Riseheart and Unicorn as Xyz Materials. He moved to the Battle Phase and had Mountain Smasher attack over the face-down Hydrant. Mountain Smasher took the Hydrant as an Xyz Material. Crowley attacked directly with Baronne de Fleur then in the Main Phase 2 he Xyz Summoned Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS – Sky Thunder and passed his turn.
Steenkamer drew Book of Moon. He moved to the Main Phase and checked his cards for a minute. Steenkamer activated Book of Moon on ZEUS. Crowley allowed it and then used Kashtira Birth’s effect to clear away some of Steenkamer’s Graveyard. Steenkamer Normal Summoned Rescue-Ace Hydrant and tried to use its effect but Crowley had another Ash Blossom! Steenkamer, out of resources, conceded the first Duel.

Duel 2
Steenkamer let Crowley go first in the second Duel.
Steenkamer had Xyz Encore, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, Nibiru, the Primal Being, EMERGENCY!, and CONTAIN! in his starting hand of cards.
Crowley started off the second Duel with Pot of Prosperity, banishing 6 cards only for Steenkamer to Chain Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, and Crowley Chained the effect of Dimension Shifter! Crowley passed his turn with no cards on the field.
Steenkamer drew Enemy Controller. He Set 2 cards and passed his turn.
Crowley drew and passed his turn.
Steenkamer drew ALERT!, he activated EMERGENCY! and Special Summoned Rescue-ACE Hydrant, then Tributed it. He activated ALERT! and added Hydrant back to his hand to Normal Summon it.
Steenkamer attempted to use Hydrant’s effect but was stopped by Infinite Impermanence. Steenkamer passed his turn.
Crowley drew, Set 1 card, and passed it back to Steenkamer.
Steenkamer drew Pot of Prosperity. In his Main Phase he activated Rescue-ACE Hydrant’s effect and added Rescue-ACE Turbulence to his hand. He activated the effect, banishing Alert and Emergency. He Special Summoned it in Attack Position but his monsters were then flipped face-down by Crowley’s Book of Eclipse. Steenkamer went to his End Phase, flipped his Monsters face-up, and drew Triple Tactics Talent and Rescue-ACE Air Lifter.
Crowley drew and immediately played Pot of Prosperity, banishing another 6 cards from his Extra Deck to add Pressured Planet Wraitsoth to his hand. He activated Pressured Planet Wraitsoth and added Kashtira Unicorn to his hand with its effect. Unicorn was Special Summoned and Steenkamer flipped Enemy Controller to try and take control of Unicorn. Crowley Chained Forbidden Lance and Steenkamer Chained CONTAIN! targeting Unicorn.
Crowley attempted to use the effect of Kashtira Unicorn, thinking it would still have its effect thanks to Forbidden Lance, but it was still negated. He Tributed Unicorn for Dimension Shifter and attacked over Hydrant.
Steenkamer drew Xyz Encore and Normal Summoned Rescue-ACE Air Lifter. Unable to come back, Crowley picked up his cards.
The score is tied 1-to-1 as both Duelists are eager to secure a spot in the Top 32!
Duel 3
Crowley went first for the third Duel in a row. Steenkamer started with Air Lifter, 2 Xyz Encore, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, and Turbulence.
Crowley began the final Duel with Dimension Shifter, following it up with a Special Summon of Kashtira Fenrir, which added Kashtira Riseheart to his hand. He Special Summoned Riseheart and banished Kashtira Birth to change its Level and get rid of some of Steenkamer’s cards. He Xyz Summoned Kashtira Shangri-Ira with his 2 Kashtira Monsters, Set 2 cards, and then passed his turn.
Steenkamer drew EMERGENCY!, in his Standby Phase Crowley tried to use Shangri-Ira’s but was stopped by Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. In the Main Phase, Steenkamer Normal Summoned Rescue-ACE Air Lifter and used its effect to get EMERGENCY!. He activated EMERGENCY! and Special Summoned a Turbulence from his Deck and Tributed Air Lifter.
Steenkamer activated Rescue-ACE Turbulence’s effect and Set ALERT!, CONTAIN!, RESCUE!, EXTINGUISH! from his Deck. He then activated Xyz Encore on Shangri-Ira! Sending it back to the Extra Deck, since both players were still under the effect of Dimension Shifter, the Xyz Materials were banished and couldn’t come back from the Encore. He Set 1 more card and ended his turn.
Crowley activated Pressured Planet Wraitsoth and added Kashtira Unicorn to his hand. He Speical Summoned Unicorn and Steenkamer immediately flipped EMERGENCY! to Special Summon Rescue-ACE Preventer and Tribute the Turbulence in his hand. Steenkamer used Preventer’s effect to flip Unicorn face-down.
Crowley activated Triple Tactics Thrust! Crowley used Thrust to add Triple Tactics Talent to his hand. He activated Talent to draw 2 cards. He passed his turn without playing any of the new cards.
Steenkamer drew Nibiru, the Primal Being, and went into his Main Phase. He Link Summoned Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf, using Rescue-ACE Preventer and Turbulence as Materials. He activated Preventer’s effect and Special Summoned back Rescue-ACE Air Lifter under the Sunlight Wolf. Steenkamer then activated the effect of Air Lifter to get EMERGENCY! and the effect of Sunlight Wolf to add back Turbulence. He then activated EMERGENCY! to Special Summon Hydrant and Tribute the Turbulence.
Steenkamer activated the effect of his newly Summoned Hydrant to add another Rescue-ACE Preventer to his hand. He linked Air Lifter and Sunlight Wolf for Salamangreat Heatleo! He activated its effect to try and shuffle away one of Crowley’s Set Spell or Trap Cards. Crowley Chained the targeted Forbidden Lance, targeting the Heatleo. Steenkamer activated ALERT! to get Rescue-ACE Fire Engine.
He linked away Rescue-ACE Hydrant for Linkuriboh. Then he linked both his monsters for Accesscode Talker. Steenkamer boosted Accesscode Talker’s ATK by 3000 thanks to Heatleo. Accesscode’s effect cleared the field! He Special Summoned Rescue-ACE Preventer by banishing Hydrant and that was it!
Steenkamer wins the last round of Swiss 2-1 with his Rescue-ACE Deck, locking in his spot in the Top 32!
