Steven Trifunoski and Yucheng Li from Toronto, Canada both play the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME at the same local tournaments. Now, they’re facing off in the third-place playoff! The winner of this Match will take third place and get the Super Rare Anotherverse Gluttonia that comes with it. The other Duelist will go home without a YCS Prize Card this weekend. Trifunoski is using a Mannadium Deck, and Li is using Purrely. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Li started off Duel 1 by Special Summoning Kashtira Fenrir from his hand and using its effect to add another Fenrir from his Deck to his hand.

Next, he activated My Friend Purrely and paid 500 Life Points to activate its effect and reveal 3 copies of Purrely Sleepy Memory from his Deck to add 1 to his hand. He activated the Sleepy Memory and sent a Fenrir in his hand to his Graveyard to Special Summon Purrelyly. He used its effect to add Stray Purrely Street from his Deck to his hand and then activated it. He used the effect of Purrelyly to Xyz Summon Epurrely Noir with Sleepy Memory attached. Next, he activated Pretty Memory and attached it to Noir with its effect, using Noir’s effect to Set Purrelyeap!? from his Deck. He activated another Pretty Memory and attached it to Noir, and then attached another Sleepy Memory from his Deck to Noir with the effect of Street in the End Phase.

Trifunoski opened up Duel 1 with Visas Samsara, Pressured Planet Wraitsoth, Peaceful Planet Calarium, Kashtira Fenrir, and Mannadium Imaginings. He drew Realm Eulogy for his first turn and then Li drew 2 cards with Noir in the Standby Phase. Next, he activated Purrelyeap!? to Xyz Summon Expurrely Noir and drew 2 more cards. Trifunoski activated Pressured Planet Wraitsoth and used its effect to add Kashtira Fenrir to his hand, prompting Li to activate the effect of Droll & Lock Bird from his hand. Trifunoski Special Summoned Kashtira Fenrir and then Li returned it to the bottom of Trifunoski’s Deck with Noir’s effect in the Battle Phase. Trifunoski Chained Realm Eulogy to destroy his own Fenrir and negate the effect of Li’s Kashtira Fenrir. In Main Phase 2, Trifunoski Special Summoned Kashtira Fenrir and then Normal Summoned Visas Samsara. Li activated Noir’s effect, and Trifunoski conceded!

Duel Two

Trifunoski opened up Duel 2 with Kashtira Fenrir, Primitive Planet Reichphobia, Primeval Planet Perlereino, Reinforcement of the Army, and Terraforming.

He Special Summoned Fenrir and activated its effect to add Scareclaw Kashtira from his Deck to his hand. Next, he used Reinforcement of the Army to add Mannadium Riumheart from his Deck to his hand. He activated Primeval Planet Perlereino next to add Visas Starfrost to his hand and then used Terraforming to get Peaceful Planet Calarium from his Deck. He activated Calarium and used its effect to add Mannadium Meek to his hand and then Normal Summoned it. Next, he Special Summoned Riumheart and destroyed the Meek. He activated the effects of Meek, Riumheart, and Calarium. He returned Meek to his field, Special Summoned one from his Deck as a Level 4 monster, and added Mannadium Reframing to his hand. He Tuned Meek with Riumheart to Synchro Summon Accel Synchro Stardust Dragon and then used its effect to Special Summon Meek. Then he Tuned his Dragon with a Level 4 Meek to Synchro Summon Baronne de Fleur. He Special Summoned Visas Starfrost from his hand by destroying his on-field Meek and then used the destroyed Meek’s effect to Special Summon another copy from his Deck as a Level 2 monster. He Tuned Meek with Starfrost to Synchro Summon Visas Amritara and used its effect to add Realm Eulogy from his Deck to his hand. Next, he sent Amritara to the Graveyard to Link Summon Scareclaw Light-Heart and used its effect to add Primitive Planet Reichphobia to his hand. He activated it and used its effect to add Scareclaw Reichheart to his hand. He Special Summoned Reichheart and used its effect to add Scareclaw Arrival from his Deck to his hand and draw a card. He sent Light-Heart and Reichheart to the Graveyard to Link Summon Cross-Sheep and then banished 2 monsters from his Graveyard to Special Summon Vicious Astraloud linked to Cross-Sheep. He used Cross-Sheep’s effect to Special Summon Meek from his Graveyard and then sent Cross-Sheep, Astraloud, and Meek to the Graveyard to Link Summon Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess. He Set 3 cards to his back row and then ended his turn.

Li Special Summoned Fenrir from his hand and activated its effect to try to add a Kashtira monster from his Deck to his hand; but Trifunoski flipped Reframing to negate the activation and destroy the Fenrir. Next, Li activated My Friend Purrely and paid 500 Life Points to use its effect. He revealed 3 copies of Purrely from his Deck and added 1 to his hand before returning the other 2 to his Deck. Next, he Normal Summoned it and activated its effect, but it was negated by the effect of Apollousa. In a new Chain, Trifunoski used Fenrir’s effect to banish the Purrely face-down. Next, Li activated Purrely Stray Street.  He activated Sleepy Memory next and sent a Purrely Pretty Memory to the Graveyard to Special Summon Purrelyly. He used its effect, but it was negated by the effect of Apollousa. He then used its effect to try to Xyz Summon, but Trifunoski negated the effect once again with Apollousa, prompting Li to concede.

The Match is going to a final Duel that will determine which Duelist takes home a Super Rare Anotherverse Gluttonia Prize Card!

Duel Three

Li started off Duel 3 by activating Pot of Prosperity and banishing 6 cards from his Deck face-down to excavate the top 6 cards of his Deck. He added a Stray Purrely Street to his hand and returned the other cards to his Deck. Next, he activated Sleepy Memory and sent Happy Memory from his hand to the Graveyard to Special Summon Purrelyly. He used its effect to add My Friend Purrely from his Deck to his hand and then used Purrelyly’s effect to Special Summon Epurrely Noir attached with Sleepy Memory. Next, he activated My Friend Purrely and paid 500 Life Points to use its effect. He revealed a Purrely Delicious Memory and 2 copies of Sleepy Memory from his Deck and randomly added one of them to his hand. Next, he activated another Sleepy Memory and used Noir’s effect to attach it to Noir. Noir’s effect allowed him to Set Purrelyeap!? from his Deck. He activated Pretty Memory next, Chaining Noir’s effect to attach it. In the End Phase, he used Stray Street to attach another Sleepy Memory to his Noir.

Trifunoski opened up Duel 3 with Mannadium Meek, Reinforcement of the Army, Mannadium Riumheart, Forbidden Droplet, and Peaceful Planet Calarium. He drew Triple Tactics Thrust for his turn and then Li drew 3 cards in the Standby Phase with Noir’s effect. He then flipped Purrelyeap!? to Xyz Summon Expurrely Noir and drew 3 more cards. He activated Peaceful Planet Calarium next, adding Visas Starfrost from his Deck to his hand, and Li activated Droll & Lock Bird! Trifunoski continued his turn by Normal Summoning Mannadium Meek and then used Riumheart’s effect targeting Meek. Li Chained Noir’s effect, but Trifunoski Chained Forbidden Droplet by sending Starfrost from his hand to his Graveyard to negate Noir’s effect and halve its ATK. He Special Summoned the Riumheart and destroyed the Meek, then used the effect of the destroyed Meek, Calarium, and Riumheart. After resolving them, he Synchro Summoned Accel Synchro Stardust Dragon and used its effect to Special Summon Meek from the Graveyard. Next, he Tuned his Stardust with Meek to Synchro Summon Bystial Dis Pater and then banished 2 cards from his Graveyard to Special Summon Vicious Astraloud from his Extra Deck. He used Dis Pater’s effect to Special Summon Visas Starfrost back to his field and then Tuned Astraloud with Meek to Synchro Summon Baronne de Fleur. He activated its effect to destroy My Friend Purrely. He attacked and destroyed Noir with Baronne and Street’s effect activated, allowing Li to Special Summon Purrelyly from his Deck. Li activated Purrelyly’s effect to add My Friend Purrely to his hand and then Visas Starfrost attacked it to destroy it. Dis Pater attacked directly. In Main Phase 2, Trifunoski used Thrust. Li tried to negate it with the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, but Trifunoski negated Ash’s effect with Baronne’s effect and Set Dimensional Barrier from his Deck to his field with the Thrust!

Li drew a card and Trifunoski flipped Dimensional Barrier to stop Li from Xyz Summoning for the rest of the turn. Li Special Summoned Kashtira Fenrir from his hand in Attack Position. He activated My Friend Purrely next and then paid 500 Life Points to activate its effect and reveal Delicious Memory and 2 copies of Pretty Memory from his Deck. He randomly added one of them to his hand and then entered his Battle Phase. He attacked Visas Starfrost with Fenrir and activated Fenrir’s effect to try to banish Dis Pater; but Trifunoski used Dis Pater’s effect to negate the effect of Fenrir, and both Starfrost and Fenrir were destroyed in battle since they both had 2400 ATK. Li Special Summoned another Fenrir from his hand in Defense Position and then Normal Summoned Purrely. He used its effect and added a Happy Memory from the top 3 cards of his Deck to his hand. He activated it and sent Fenrir from his hand to his Graveyard to Special Summon Purrelyly. He used the effect of Purrelyly to add My Friend Purrely from his Deck to his hand. He sent Purrely and Purrelyly to the Graveyard to Link Summon I:P Masquerena and Set 2 cards to his back row before passing.

Trifunoski drew a card and then used Baronne’s effect to try to destroy Masquerena; but Li Chained its effect to send it to the Graveyard along with Fenrir and Link Summon S:P Little Knight. Little Knight’s effect tried to banish Dis Pater, and Dis Pater tried to negate the effect of Little Knight. Li Chained the effect of Little Knight to banish the Little Knight and Dis Pater until the End Phase. Li banished Purrelyeap!? from his Graveyard to return 3 cards to his Deck and then Trifunoski activated Reinforcement of the Army to add Reichheart from his Deck to his hand. He Normal Summoned it and used its effect to add Scareclaw Arrival from his Deck to his hand. He Link Summoned Light-Heart by using Reichheart next, and added Reichphobia to his hand. He activated it and used its effect to add Visas Starfrost to his hand, prompting Li to flip Summon Limit! Trifunoski attacked directly with Baronne and Light-Heart, dropping Li down to 1000 Life Points. Li flipped Pretty Memory in Main Phase 2, Special Summoning a Purrely from his Deck by sending My Friend Purrely from his hand to his Graveyard after each Duelist gained 1000 Life Points. He used Purrely’s effect but was unsuccessful at adding a card to his hand. In the End Phase, Little Knight and Dis Pater returned to the field.

Li drew a card and then paid 500 Life Points to add another Memory from his Deck to his hand with My Friend Purrely. He activated the effect of his Purrely to try to Xyz Summon, but Trifunoski used the effect of Dis Pater to destroy Purrely. Li Normal Summoned Purrelyly next and used its effect to add a Stray Purrely Street to his hand. He used the effect of Purrelyly to Xyz Summon Epurrely Happiness with Happy Memory attached and then attacked Light-Heart and halved the ATK of Barrone. He attacked Barrone next to destroy it and halved Dis Pater’s ATK. Next, he attacked and destroyed Dis Pater. Trifunoski’s monsters were all destroyed and he dropped down to 7750 Life Points. Little Knight attacked directly next, dropping him down to 6150 Life Points. Next, Li activated Pretty Memory increasing both Duelists’ Life Points by 1000, and used Happiness’s effect to attach it as an Xyz Material. He activated Delicious Memory next, attaching it to Happiness. Then he Tributed a card to attach Reichphobia to Happiness as an Xyz Material and passed.

Trifunoski drew a card for his turn and Li drew a card with the effect of Happiness in his Standby Phase. Trifunoski Special Summoned Vicious Astraloud and used its effect to destroy Happiness. Li Chained Little Knight’s effect to banish both Little Knight and Astraloud. Li Special Summoned Purrelyly and returned 3 Memories from his Graveyard to his hand using the effects of his Stray Purrely Street and My Friend Purrely. Next, Trifunoski Special Summoned Scareclaw Kashtira from his hand and attacked Purrelyly to destroy it. In the End Phase, Little Knight and Astraloud returned to the field.

Li activated Sleepy Memory to Special Summon Purrely and then used its effect to Xyz Summon Epurrely Plump. He banished Scareclaw Kashtira and then attached Vicious Astraloud to his Plump with its effect by sending Summon Limit to the Graveyard. Next, he Xyz Summoned Expurrely Noir. He Normal Summoned Purrelyly and used its effect to Xyz Summon Epurrely Beauty. Noir, Little Knight, and Beauty attacked, dropping Trifunoski to 450 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Li activated Pot of Prosperity. He banished 3 cards from his Extra Deck face-down and added Nibiru, the Primal Being to his hand. Li used the effect of Street to add a material to Noir in the End Phase.

Time in the round was immediately called on Trifunoski’s next turn, and with Li up 2500 Life Points to 450 Life Points, Li was declared the winner!
