Pakawat “Pak” Pamornsut from New Brunswick, New Jersey is a popular YouTube and Twitch personality, with content always focusing on the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME and Yu-Gi-Oh! MASTER DUEL. He’s experienced with all sorts of Decks and cards, which may give him the edge in this Round 1 Feature Match. He’s facing off against Brandon Berman, who traveled here from Dayton, Ohio to compete in his first-ever YCS! Berman is familiar with Pak’s YouTube content, and surprised to be Dueling against him in the first round of his first YCS with over 1900 Duelists in attendance. Pamornsut is using a Purrely Deck featuring S:P Little Knight and Super Starslayer TY-PHON – Sky Crisis from Age of Overlord in his Extra Deck, while Berman is using a Vanquish Soul Deck enhanced by Age of Overlord’s Vanquish Soul Jiaolong. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Pamornsut opened up Duel 1 with My Friend Purrely, Purrely Delicious Memory, Purrely, Purrelyeap!?, and Crossout Designator. He Normal Summoned Purrely and activated its effect; but he didn’t excavate any Spells or Traps that he could add to his hand! He activated My Friend Purrely next and paid 500 Life Points to reveal 3 copies of Purrely Sleepy Memory from his Deck and add one to his hand. Next, he activated Sleepy Memory. Berman Chained the effect of Dimension Shifter; but Pamornsut Chained Crossout Designator and banished a Dimension Shifter from his Deck to negate the effect of Berman’s Dimension Shifter! He resolved the effect of Sleepy Memory to discard a card and Special Summon Purrelyly and used its effect to get Stray Purrely Street from his Deck and add it to his hand. He used Purrelyly’s effect to Xyz Summon Epurrely Plump and attach a Delicious Memory from his Graveyard to it as an Xyz Material. He activated Street, Set a card to his back row, and then used Plump’s effect in the End Phase to attach 2 more Xyz Materials to it. He used his Street’s effect to attach another Xyz Material to it from his Deck.

Berman drew a card and Pamornsut used Plump’s effect twice in the Standby Phase to draw 2 cards thanks to the two Sleepy Memories attached to it as Xyz Materials. Then he flipped Purrelyeap!? to Xyz Summon Expurrely Noir and drew 2 more cards thanks to his Sleepy Memories attached. Berman Summoned Vanquish Soul Razen and activated its effect. Pak Chained his  Noir’s effect to return Razen to the Deck; Berman Chained the effect of the Vanquish Soul Heavy Borger in his hand by targeting his Razen; and Pak Chained Noir’s effect again to return Razen to the Deck. Heavy Borger was unable to Summon itself to the field since Razen was returned to the Deck, and Berman resolved Razen’s effect to add Vanquish Soul Jiaolong to his hand. He used Pot of Prosperity to add a Vanquish Soul Razen to his hand and then passed his turn without a field!

Pamornsut Summoned Purrely and activated its effect, but failed to add any cards to his hand once again. He used the effect of My Friend Purrely to reveal 2 copies of Purrely Happy Memory and a Purrely Sleepy Memory from his Deck, randomly adding a Sleepy Memory to his hand. Next, he used his Purrely’s effect to Xyz Summon Epurrely Happiness and attach the Happy Memory in his hand to it as an Xyz Material. Pamornsut activated Sleepy Memory next, and Berman Chained Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to negate it. Pamornsut attacked directly with Noir, Purrely, and Happiness to drop Berman to 3900 Life Points. He used Happiness’s effect to add Happy Memory to his hand and then activated it while still in his Battle Phase. He discarded Dimension Shifter and Special Summoned Purrelyly. He used Purrelyly’s effect to add a Stray Purrely Street to his hand and attacked with the Purrelyly. In Main Phase 2, he combined Purrely with Purrelyly to Xyz Summon Lyrilusc – Ensemblue Robin. Next, he sent Noir and Happiness to his Graveyard to Link Summon S:P Little Knight. He banished Pot of Prosperity from Berman’s Graveyard with Little Knight’s effect and then passed his turn.

Berman Normal Summoned Razen and used its effect; but Pamornsut Chained the effect of S:P Little Knight targeting the Little Knight and the Razen. Berman Chained the effect of Heavy Borger and returned Razen to the hand to Special Summon Heavy Borger. Pamornsut used his Lyrilusc’s effect to try to return Heavy Borger to Berman’s hand. Berman Chained Vanquish Soul Caesar Valius’s effect targeting the Borger to return the Borger to his hand. Then he Chained Borger’s effect to revealing Vanquish Soul Dr. Mad Love to draw a card. The Chain resolved, and then Berman used the effect of Vanquish Soul Jiaolong in his hand to Special Summon it. He used Caesar’s effect by revealing an EARTH, FIRE, and DARK monster from his hand to destroy My Friend Purrely. He attacked and destroyed the Lyrilusc with Caesar and then attacked and destroyed Little Knight with Jiaolong. In Main Phase 2, he sent Caesar to the Graveyard to Link Summon Rock of the Vanquisher and Special Summoned Dr. Mad Love from his hand with its effect. In the End Phase, Pamornsut banished Purrelyeap!? from his Graveyard to return 2 copies of Purrely and a Purrelyly from his Graveyard to his Deck.

Pamornsut drew Pot of Prosperity next turn. He banished 6 cards from his Extra Deck face-down and excavated the top 6 cards of his Deck. He added My Friend Purrely to his hand and returned the other 5 cards to his Deck. He activated Dark Ruler No More and then activated My Friend Purrely. He paid 500 Life Points, dropping down to 3200 Life Points, and revealed 2 copies of Pretty Memory and a Happy Memory from his Deck. He randomly added the Pretty Memory to his hand and then activated it. Both Duelists gained 1000 Life Points and Pamornsut discarded a Stray Purrely Street from his hand. He Special Summoned Purrelyly and activated its effect. Berman Chained the effect of the Caesar in his hand, targeting Jiaolong. He returned Jiaolong to his hand and Special Summoned Caesar. Next, he Special Summoned Borger by targeting his Dr. Mad Love and returning Dr. Mad Love to his hand. He used Borger’s effect to reveal a DARK monster from his hand and draw a card. Pamornsut added Purrely to his hand with Purrelyly’s effect and then Normal Summoned it. He activated Purrely’s effect to try to excavate the top 3 cards of his Deck, but Berman used Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to stop it. Next, Pamornsut used his Purrelyly’s effect to Xyz Summon Epurrely Happiness and attach a Happy Memory from his Graveyard to it as an Xyz Material. Happiness attacked Rock of the Vanquisher and he used Happiness’s effect to halve Caesar’s ATK and add a card to his hand. He attacked and destroyed Caesar next thanks to the additional attacks gained by the Purrely Happy Memory attached as an Xyz Material, and added another card from his Deck to his hand with Happiness’s effect. Finally, he attacked Heavy Borger to destroy his own Happiness in battle. Pamornsut used the effects of Stray Purrely Street, My Friend Purrely, and Happiness. He added a Purrely card from his Deck to his hand with Happiness, added 3 “Purrely” Spells from his Graveyard to his hand with My Friend Purrely, and Special Summoned a Purrelyly from his Graveyard. In Main Phase 2 he used his Purrely’s effect to Xyz Summon Epurrely Beauty with a Pretty Memory attached from his hand as an Xyz Material. He activated Happy Memory and discarded a Stray Purrely Street to Special Summon Purrely, but once again missed with Purrely’s effect. He attached the Happy Memory to Beauty as an Xyz Material. He used Beauty’s effect by Tributing his Purrely to attach a face-down Vanquish Soul – Continue? as an Xyz Material, and Berman Chained it to Special Summon Caesar Valius. Pamornsut activated Pretty Memory next, but chose not to Special Summon a monster with it, and just attached it to his Beauty as an Xyz Material with Beauty’s effect. He Xyz Summoned Expurrely Noir next since his Beauty had enough Xyz Materials to do so and then Set 2 cards. He sent them to the Graveyard one at a time with Noir’s effect to attach Berman’s two monsters to Noir as Xyz Materials, since he had 2 copies of Pretty Memories attached to his Noir.

Berman drew a card and then Pamornsut drew a card with Noir’s effect in the Standby Phase. Facing down an Expurrely Noir with a massive number of Xyz Materials attached to it, Berman conceded! Pamornsut manages to win a very back-and-forth first Duel!

Duel Two

Berman opened up Duel 2 by activating Pot of Prosperity and banishing 6 cards from his Extra Deck face-down.

He excavated the top 6 cards of his Deck and added Kashtira Fenrir to his hand. He Special Summoned it in Defense Position and used its effect to add Kashtira Riseheart to his hand. He Normal Summoned Razen and used its effect to add Jiaolong to his hand. He revealed a FIRE monster with Razen to activate its effect, allowing him to Special Summon Jiaolong. He Link Summoned Rock of the Vanquisher, activated its effect, and then used Jiaolong’s effect by revealing 2 FIRE monsters from his hand to get a Vanquish Soul card from his Deck. He Set a back row card and passed.

Pamornsut opened up Duel 2 with Purrely Happy Memory, Stray Purrely Street, 2 copies of Sleepy Memory, and a Harpie’s Feather Duster. In the Standby Phase, Berman revealed 2 FIRE monsters to use Jialong’s effect and get a Vanquish Soul card from his Deck and add it to his hand. Pamornsut drew Droll & Lock Bird for turn. He used Harpie’s Feather Duster to destroy a face-down Pot of Prosperity and then used Sleepy Memory by discarding Droll to Special Summon Purrelyly. He used its effect to add My Friend Purrely to his hand and then activated it. He paid 500 Life Points to activate its effect. Berman Chained the effect of Caesar by revealing a FIRE, EARTH, and DARK monster from his hand. Pamornsut Chained a Happy Memory so that My Friend Purrely couldn’t be destroyed once, and Special Summoned Purrely from his Deck by discarding a card. Caesar’s effect resolved to destroy Purrely and Pamornsut revealed a Pretty Memory and 2 Stray Purrely Streets from his Deck with My Friend’s effect. Pamornsut added the Stray Purrely Street to his hand. Berman used his Rock of the Vanquisher’s effect to Special Summon Razen from his hand and used Razen’s effect to add Dr. Mad Love to his hand. Pamornsut activated Stray Purrely Street and then used the effect of Purrelyly to try to Xyz Summon Epurrely Happiness with a Happy Memory attached it to it; but when Berman Chained D.D. Crow to banish the Happy Memory, Pamornsut conceded!

Brandon Berman ties up the Match and pushes it to a third and final Duel with just minutes remaining in the Swiss Round!

Duel Three

Pamornsut opened up Duel 3 with Pot of Prosperity, Terraforming, Droll & Lock Bird, Purrelyly, and D.D. Crow.

He Normal Summoned Purrelyly and used its effect to add My Friend Purrely to his hand. He activated My Friend and paid 500 Life Points to activate its effect, but lost out to Berman’s Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Next, Pamornsut activated Terraforming to add Stray Purrely Street to his hand. He activated Pot of Prosperity next and banished 6 cards from his Extra Deck face-down to excavate the top 6 cards of his Deck. He added Purrely Sleepy Memory to his hand and activated his Stray Purrely Street. He activated Sleepy Memory next and discarded D.D. Crow to Special Summon Purrely from his Deck. He excavated the top 3 cards of his Deck with Purrely’s effect and once again didn’t see any “Purrely” Spell or Trap Cards! He used Purrelyly’s effect to Special Summon Epurrely Noir and attach a Sleepy Memory to it, then attached another Sleepy Memory to it in the End Phase with Stray Purrely Street.

Berman drew a card and Pamornsut drew 2 cards with Noir’s effect in the Standby Phase thanks to the Sleepy Memories attached to it. Berman used Stake Your Soul! to Special Summon Razen then used Razen’s effect to add a “Vanquish Soul” monster from his Deck to his hand. Pamornsut activated Droll & Lock bird to prevent Berman from adding any more cards from his Deck to his hand that turn! Berman used Razen’s effect to destroy Purrely by revealing a FIRE and DARK monster from his hand, then Special Summoned Kurikara Divincarnate by Tributing Pamornsut’s Noir. Berman Special Summoned a Borger by returning Razen to his hand, used its effect to draw a card by revealing a DARK monster, and then Special Summoned Vanquish Soul Jiaolong from his hand with its effect. He Link Summoned Rock of the Vanquisher and returned a “Vanquish Soul” monster from his Graveyard to his hand with its effect. He Set a card to his back row and then Special Summoned Purrelyly to his field in the End Phase with his Divincarnate’s effect.

Pamornsut used My Friend’s effect by paying 500 Life Points, and when Berman used Ash Blossom to try to negate it, Pamornsut Chained Crossout Designator and banished Ash Blossom from his Deck to resolve the effect of My Friend Purrely! Pamornsut activated Sleepy Memory to Special Summon Purrelyly next, and Normal Summoned Purrely. He activated its effect, filing to excavate a “Purrely” Spell or Trap Card once again. He used Purrely’s effect to Xyz Summon Epurrely Happiness and attach a Happy Memory from his hand to it as an Xyz Material. Berman used Jiaolong’s effect to change Happiness into Defense Position by revealing a FIRE monster from his hand and time in the round was called! Pamornsut, who was behind in Life Points and unable to deal enough damage to turn the Duel around by the end of the Main Phase, conceded and offered the handshake!
