We’re 8 rounds into YCS Indianapolis, but there’s still more to go! We have Victor Lu, a Floo-rida Duelist. That’s a Floowandereeze Duelist from Florida! He’s facing Davon Amos Hall, from Michigan, playing Labrynth! Both these Decks tend to play outside the typical norms of other top tier strategies, but how will they fare against each other? There’s only one way to find out!

Duel 1

Lu won the dice roll and chose to play first, beginning with Floowandereeze and the Advent of Adventure. He banished Mist Valley Apex Avian and gained 500 Life Points, adding Floowandereeze & Robina to his hand. He played Robina, adding Floowandereeze & Eglen to his hand. He played Eglen, and it was hit with Amos Hall’s Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring.

Amos Hall had Infinite Impermanence, Welcome Labrynth, Pot of Extravagance, and Lady Labrynth of the Silver Castle. He drew another Lady. He started the turn with Pot of Extravagance, drawing Nibiru, the Primal Being and Big Welcome Labrynth. He Set all his Trap Cards.

In the Standby Phase, Amos Hall flipped Welcome Labrynth to Special Summon Lovely Labrynth of the Silver Castle. Lu played Harpie’s Feather Duster, destroying the other traps! Lu Xyz Summoned Kikinagashi Fucho! It attacked Lovely, dealing 1900 damage to Lu. In Main Phase 2 he Xyz Summoned Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS – Sky Thunder! He activated its effect to send Lovely to the Graveyard. Lu Set a card in his back row. In the End Phase, Amos Hall Special Summoned Lady from his hand.

Amos Hall drew another Pot of Extravagance! He used it to draw Called by the Grave and Labrynth Cooclock. He banished Big Welcome Labrynth to bounce Zeus away. Then he used Welcome Labrynth’s effect to Set itself, and Chained to that with Cooclock. He attacked directly with Lady. In Main Phase 2, he flipped Welcome Labrynth and Chained Lady’s effect. He Set Terrors of the Overroot with Lady, then Special Summoned Arianna the Labrynth Servant with Welcome. Arianna added Big Welcome Labrynth to his hand. He Set it, and Set Called by the Grave. Before the end of the Main Phase, Lu flipped Floowandereeze and the Dreaming Town. He Normal Summoned Floowandereeze & Stri, banishing Robina.

In Lu’s Draw Phase, Amos Hall flipped Big Welcome Labrynth and Chained Lady. He Set Infinite Impermanence and Special Summoned Lovely, returning Lady to the hand. Lovely’s effect destroyed Evenly Matched from Lu’s hand! That was Lu’s last hope for a comeback, and he conceded the Duel!

Duel 2

Lu chose to play first. He started with Floowandereeze and the Magnificent Map, banishing Eglen to Normal Summon Robina. The banished Eglen went to the hand, and Robina added another Eglen to his hand. He Normal Summoned Eglen, and Amos Hall had Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring just like last game. Lu played Pot of Prosperity, banishing six cards. He added Harpie’s Feather Duster to his hand. He Set one card in his back row.

Amos Hall had a hand of Ice Dragon’s Prison, Destructive Daruma Karma Cannon, Full Force Virus, and Arias the Labrynth Butler. He drew Labrynth Chandraglier. He used Chandraglier, sending it and Arias to the Graveyard to search for Welcome Labrynth. Lu then flipped Dreaming Town to Normal Summon his second Eglen, searching for Dark Simorgh! He Tributed Robina and Eglen to play Dark Simorgh, and both monsters returned to his hand. Amos Hall had to pass the turn, unable to Set his hand of traps!

Lu activated Map, banishing Stri to Normal Summon Eglen. Eglen searched for Floowandereeze & Empen, and he Tributed both his Eglens to play Empen. Empen searched for Floowandereeze & the Unexplored Winds, and his banished birds went to his hand. He played Advent next, banishing Eglen and gaining 500 Life Points to get another Empen in his hand. He activated Unexplored Winds, and Amos Hall tried flipping Welcome Labrynth – Lu had Ash Blossom! With Dark Simorgh totally shutting down his Deck, Amos Hall conceded this Duel!

Duel 3

Amos Hall chose to play first this time, with a hand of Called by the Grave, 2 Chandraglier, Destructive Daruma Karma Cannon, and Lord of the Heavenly Prison. He used a Chandraglier, pitching Karma Cannon to Set Big Welcome Labrynth. He revealed Lord of the Heavenly Prison for its effect, then Set the rest of his hand.

Lu played Robina and added Stri to his hand. He Normal Summoned Eglen and Chained the effect of Simorgh, Bird of Perfection. Amos Hall Chained Big Welcome Labrynth, Lu had Ash Blossom, and Amos Hall hit Ash Blossom with Called by the Grave! Resolving the Chain, Lovely Labrynth of the Silver Castle and Simorgh hit the field, and Empen was added to Lu’s hand. He Tribute Summoned Empen, and a ton of new effects started. Lord of the Heavenly Prison hit the field and Set Welcome Labrynth. Chandraglier returned to Amos Hall’s hand, and Lovely destroyed Empen. Robina and Eglen returned to Lu’s hand, and the final effect was Empen adding Dreaming Town to Lu’s hand. Lu Normal Summoned Stri, banishing Empen from his Graveyard. Then he Tributed Simorgh and Stri for Raiza the Mega Monarch! He put Welcome Labrynth and Called by the Grave on top of Amos Hall’s Deck, and returned Lord of the Heavenly Prison to the hand. Mega Raiza destroyed Lovely in battle. Lu Set two back row cards to finish. Amos Hall knew he’d be drawing a useless Called by the Grave next turn, so in the End Phase he used Chandraglier, pitching his second Chandraglier, to Set Big Welcome Labrynth and free up the top of his Deck.

He drew Ash Blossom for the turn. He flipped Big Welcome, and Lu Chained Dreaming Town. He Normal Summoned Robina, then Amos Hall Special Summoned Arianna, which immediately returned to the hand. In a new Chain Chandraglier and Robina activated. Amos Hall tried to hit Robina with Ash Blossom, but Called by the Grave was still negating all Ash Blossoms! Chandraglier returned to the hand, and Robina searched for Floowandereeze & Toccan. Lu Normal Summoned Toccan and got Empen to the hand, then Tribute Summoned Empen to get Advent. Then he Normal Summoned Eglen, and Amos Hall Chained Chandraglier. It sent Lord of the Heavenly Prison to Set Welcome Labrynth. Eglen searched for Apex Avian, then he Normal Summoned Stri and banished Big Welcome. He Tribute Summoned Apex Avian to finish playing on his opponent’s turn. Amos Hall Normal Summoned Arianna, but Lu had Infinite Impermanence!

Lu played Robina, searching for D.D. Crow. He Normal Summoned Stri, trying to banish the other Big Welcome Labrynth, but Amos Hall chained it to bounce his Arianna. Lu Chained Advent, banishing Stri to get Map. Chandraglier returned to the hand. Lu played Map, using it to Normal Summon Eglen. Eglen searched for Empen, and Lu Tribute Summoned Dark Simorgh! He sent his monsters to attack directly. Amos Hall tried using Welcome Labrynth, and Lu negated it with Apex Avian, clearing the way for his attacks!

Victor Lu comes out ahead with Floowandereeze!
