At each YCS event, the winner of Saturday’s Dragon Duel Tournament faces off against the winner of Sunday’s Dragon Duel Tournament in a showdown that determines the Dragon Duel Champion of the weekend! 12-year-old Austin H. from Wisconsin and 13-year-old Jackson B. from Kentucky both competed in their first YCS Dragon Duel events this weekend and had tremendous success. Jackson won Saturday’s Dragon Duel Tournament to earn his invitation into this playoff and Austin won today’s event to earn a spot Dueling against him. Now, they’re facing off in one Match that will determine which Duelist takes home the trophy and a set of Super Rare Darklord YCS Prize Cards! It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Austin opened up Duel 1 with Branded Fusion, Kashtira Fenrir, Branded Opening, Droll & Lock Bird, and Nibiru, the Primal Being.

He Special Summoned Kashtira Fenrir from his hand and activated its effect to add another Fenrir from his Deck to his hand. Next, he activated Branded Fusion and sent Gazelle the King of Mythical Claws and Fallen of Albaz from his Deck to his Graveyard to Summon Rindbrumm the Striking Dragon. He used his Gazelle’s effect to add Mirror Swordknight from his Deck to his hand. He Normal Summoned it and then used its effect to Special Summon Big-Winged Berfomet from his Deck. He used Berfomet’s effect to add Chimera Fusion and Gazelle the King of Mythical Claws from his Deck to his hand. Next, he activated Chimera Fusion and fused Gazelle and Berfomet to Summon Chimera the King of Phantom Beasts. He used the effects of Berfomet and Chimera. He Special Summoned Mirror Swordknight from his Graveyard, and then Set 2 cards to his back row. In the End Phase he sent Mannadium Riumheart from Jackson’s hand to his Graveyard with Chimera’s effect.

Jackson Normal Summoned Mannadium Riumheart and activated its effect to add Mannadium Meek to his hand. On resolution of the effect, Austin activated the effect of Droll & Lock Bird from his hand. Jackson Special Summoned Meek from his hand and then Tuned it with Riumheart to Synchro Summon Mannadium Trisukta. He activated the effect of Trisukta, but Austin Chained Rindbrumm’s effect to negate it and return Trisukta to the Extra Deck. He passed his turn with a clear field.

Austin drew Infinite Impermanence and then flipped Branded Opening. He sent Fenrir from his hand to his Graveyard to Special Summon Aluber the Jester of Despia from his Deck and used Aluber’s effect to add Branded Fusion to his hand. He activated it to send Fallen of Albaz and The Light – Hex-Sealed Fusion from his Deck to his Graveyard and Fusion Summon Albion the Branded Dragon. He used the effect of Albion and Chained his face-down Chimera Fusion. He Fusion Summoned Chimera the Illusion Beast followed by Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon. Direct attacks from Rindbrumm, Fenrir, Chimera the Illusion Beast, and Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon wiped out all 8000 of Jackson’s Life Points!

Austin H. wins the first Duel of the Match!

Duel Two

Jackson started off the Match by activating Reinforcement of the Army to add Mannadium Riumheart to his hand.

To Jackson’s disappointment, Austin activated the effect of Droll & Lock Bird from his hand. Jackson Normal Summoned Riumheart anyway and then Special Summoned Meek from his hand. He Tuned them together for Trisukta and used its effect to Special Summon Meek from his Graveyard. Next, he Tuned Trisukta and Meek to Synchro Summon Accel Synchro Stardust Dragon. He used its effect to Special Summon Meek back from the Graveyard and then sent Meek and Accel Synchro Stardust Dragon from his field to his Graveyard to Synchro Summon Baronne de Fleur. He passed his turn.

Austin drew Nibiru and added it to his hand of Aluber, Fallen of Albaz, Dark Ruler No More, and Chimera Fusion. He activated Dark Ruler No More to negate the effect of Baronne and then Normal Summoned Fallen of Albaz. He activated his Albaz’s effect by discarding Nibiru and fused it with Baronne to Summon Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon. He ended his turn with just Mirrorjade on his field.

Jackson Normal Summoned Scareclaw Reichheart and activated its effect. Austin Chained Mirrorjade’s effect to send Rindbrumm from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard and banish the Scareclaw Reichheart. Next, Jackson activated D.D. Crow from his hand to try to banish Rindbrumm, and Austin Chained its effect to banish it and Special Summon Fallen of Albaz to his field in Defense Position. Jackson activated Peaceful Planet Calarium next, and used its effect to add Riumheart from his Deck to his hand. He Normal Summoned Riumheart and activated its effect to add Mannadium Meek from his Deck to his hand. He used Mannadium Abscission to destroy Calarium and add Visas Starfrost to his hand. Next, he Special Summoned the Meek from his hand. He activated the effect of Visas Starfrost to destroy the Meek and Special Summon the Starfrost. Then he used the destroyed Meek’s effect to Special Summon another Meek from his Deck as a Level 4 monster. He sent Visas Starfrost to the Graveyard to Link Summon Scareclaw Light-Heart and used its effect to add Primitive Planet Reichphobia to his hand. He activated it and used its effect to add Scareclaw Reichheart to his hand. Next, he Special Summoned Reichheart to his field. He activated Scareclaw Arrival to Special Summon Visas Starfrost from his Graveyard. He sent Reichheart and Light-Heart to the Graveyard to Link Summon Cross-Sheep and then Tuned Riumheart with Starfrost to Synchro Summon Chaos Angel. He used its effect to banish Mirrorjade, and Mirrorjade’s effect activated to destroy all of Jackson’s monsters in the End Phase. Next, he Special Summoned Vicious Astraloud linked to Cross-Sheep by banishing 2 monsters from his Graveyard, and used Cross-Sheep’s effect to Special Summon Reichheart back to the field. He Tuned Astraloud with Meek to Synchro Summon Crimson Dragon. He used Crimson Dragon’s effect targeting Chaos Angel and then returned Crimson Dragon to the Extra Deck to Summon Bystial Dis Pater. He used Dis Pater’s effect to Special Summon Visas Starfrost and then direct attacks from Chaos Angel, Bystial Dis Pater, and Visas Starfrost wiped out all 8000 of Austin’s Life Points!

Jackson B. manages to win the second Duel of the Match, pushing it to a third and final Duel!

Duel Three

Austin opened up Duel 3 with Super Polymerization, Ghost Sister & Spooky Dogwood, Pot of Prosperity, Dimensional Barrier, and Cornfield Coatl. Austin activated Pot of Prosperity by banishing 3 cards from his Extra Deck face-down. He added an excavated Branded Fusion to his hand and returned the other 2 excavated cards to his Deck. Next, he used his Cornfield Coatl’s effect to discard it and get a Mirror Swordknight from his Deck, then Normal Summon it. He Tributed the Swordknight to Special Summon Big-Winged Berfomet and used Berfomet’s effect to add Chimera Fusion and Gazelle to his hand. He activated Chimera Fusion to Fusion Summon Chimera the King of Phantom Beasts and then used the effects of Gazelle, Berfomet, and Chimera. Chimera allowed him to send a card from Jackson’s hand to the Graveyard in the End Phase, Berfomet Special Summoned Swordknight, and Gazelle added a Cornfield Coatl from his Deck to his hand. Next, he returned Chimera Fusion from his Graveyard to his hand and activated it again to fuse Chimera with Cornfield and Summon Berfomet the Mythical King of Phantom Beasts. He used its effect to send Barrier Statue of the Abyss to his Graveyard, and Jackson banished the Barrier Statue by activating the effect of the D.D. Crow in his hand. Next, Austin activated Branded Fusion! He sent The Light – Hex-Sealed Fusion and Fallen of Albaz to his Graveyard to Summon Albion the Branded Dragon and then used Albion’s effect to banish Fallen of Albaz and The Light – Hex-Sealed Fusion to Summon Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon! He Set Dimensional Barrier to his back row and then ended his turn, sending Mannadium Abscission from Jackson’s hand to the Graveyard in the End Phase.

Jackson activated Harpie’s Feather Duster, but Austin Chained Dimensional Barrier declaring Synchros! Next, Austin used his Swordknight’s effect to Tribute it and Summon Berfomet. He used Berfomet’s effect to add Chimera Fusion and Gazelle from his Deck to his hand. Next, Jackson activated Calarium, but Austin used the effect of his Dragoon to discard Super Polymerization and negate the activation of Calarium and destroy it. Jackson activated another Calarium next, and used its effect to add Visas Starfrost from his Deck to his hand. Next, Jackson activated the effect of the Abscission in his Graveyard to banish it and Special Summon Visas Starfrost from his hand. Austin activated Ghost Sister & Spooky Dogwood from his hand. Jackson Link Summoned Light-Heart, causing Austin to gain 500 Life Points from the effect of Ghost Sister & Spooky Dogwood, and Austin banished his Swordknight from his Graveyard to negate Light-Heart’s effect. Jackson Set a monster face-down and ended his turn.

Austin drew a card and then used Chimera Fusion to fuse Albion, Gazelle, and Berfomet to Summon Guardian Chimera! He activated the effects of Berfomet, Gazelle, and Guardian Chimera, adding a bunch of cards to his hand and clearing the field with Guardian Chimera’s effect. Jackson activated the effect of his destroyed Mannadium Torrid, but Austin used Called by the Grave to negate it! Austin Normal Summoned Swordknight, and it was over moments later! Direct attacks from all of Austin’s monsters wiped out all 8000 of Jackson’s Life Points!
