Round 6 Feature Match Nathaniel Jadotte Versus Shawn Debrew
Nathaniel Jadotte from New York is currently 4-1 with an unexpected Deck today: Salamangreat! This strategy got some new support in Legendary Duelists: Soulburning Volcano, and it’s started to see more play. His opponent, Shawn Debrew from Washington D.C. is playing Mannadium, powered up with new cards from Age of Overlord, as well as some personal tech picks. It’ll be a fun Duel, but only one competitor can come out of this match with a 5-1 record.
Debrew was up first. It’s time to Duel!
Debrew started the Duel by activating Terraforming, adding Peaceful Planet Calarium to his hand. He activated it to get Mannadium Riumheart, then Normal Summoned the Riumheart and added Mannadium Meek to his hand as well. Debrew Special Summoned Meek from his hand, then activated Mannadium Abcission to destroy Meek and add Mannadium Reframing from his Deck. Meek was activated in a new Chain as Chain Link 1, to Summon another copy from the Deck and make it Level 4; Calarium was Chain Link 2, to Special Summon the Meek from the Graveyard.
Debrew banished his Mannadium Abscission from the Graveyard to Special Summon Scareclaw Reichheart, which added Scareclaw Arrival to his hand and drew him an additional card as well. He used Reichheart to Link Summon Scareclaw Light-Heart, which added Primitive Planet Reichphobia to Debrew’s hand. He quickly activated it, searching Visas Starfrost and getting even more cards. He activated Visas’ effect to destroy the Level 4 Mannadium Meek, Summoned another copy of Meek, and changed it to Level 4 as well.
Visas Starfrost and Mannadium Riumheart were sent to the Graveyard to Synchro Summon Baronne de Fleur. Debrew then banished Riumheart and Visas Starfrost to Special Summon Vicious Astraloud, using that and Mannadium Meek as Materials to Synchro Summon Crimson Dragon. He activated Crimson Dragon to target Baronne de Fleur, returned it to the Extra Deck, and Special Summoned Bystial Dis Pater from his Extra Deck. All this thanks to one Terraforming! Dis Pater’s effect let him Special Summon his banished Visas Starfrost, and he used Meek and Visas Starfrost for Visas Amritara.
The Amritara let Debrew get another copy of Primitive Planet Reichphobia, and he activated Scareclaw Arrival to bring back Visas Starfrost from hs Graveyard. He Linked it to Light-Heart to Link Summon Cross Sheep, then quickly banished Visas and Reichheart to Summon another Vicious Astraloud. Cross Sheep Special Summoned Mannadium Meek, using it with Dis Pater to Summon Crimson Dragon again.
After that, Debrew Special Summoned Scareclaw Light-Heart from the Graveyard, since Visas Amritara’s treated as Visas Starfrost when it’s on the field. Then he Special Summoned Phantasmal Lord Ultimitl Bishbaalkin with Vicious Astraloud and Visas Amritara. Seeing that his turn was about to be skipped due the looming threat of Hot Red Dragon Archfiend King Calamity, Jadotte conceded the Duel, wanting to save time.
Jadotte started Duel 2 with a hand of Flame Bufferlo, Salamangerat Rage, Salamangreat Roar, Nibiru, the Primal Being, and Gozen Match. He Normal Summoned Flame Bufferlo, then Link Summoned Salamangreat Baelynx, and when he tried to search Salamangreat Sanctuary, Debrew chained Infinite Impermanence. Jadotte Set 3 cards face-down and passed his turn.
Debrew activated Harpie’s Feather Duster and was met by Salamangreat Roar, then Normal Summoned Mannadium Riumheart and took Mannadium Meek with its effect. On resolution, Jadotte activated Gozen Match, locking Debrew into LIGHT Attribute monsters. Debrew attacked Jadotte’s Salamangreat Baelynx for 1000 damage and passed play.
Jadotte drew a second Nibiru, the Primal Being for turn. Another bummer! He ended his turn.
Debrew was still locked into LIGHT monsters, so he Tribute Summoned Visas Starfrost by Tributing his Mannadium Riumheart, attacked for 2100 damage and passed.
Jadotte drew Will of the Salamangreat for the turn and activated it to Special Summon, but Debrew cut him off with D.D. Crow. He had to pass after that, shaking his head.
Debrew was up next, Normal Summoning another Mannadium Riumheart and adding Mannadium Abscission to his hand. He simply attacked with both monsters, leaving Jadotte at 1200 Life Points. In Main Phase 2 he used Abscission to destroy Riumheart and searched Peaceful Planet Calarium, activating it immediately to get Mannadium Riumheart. He passed play there.
Jadotte drew… Anti-Spell Fragrance. Not what he needed at all. Knowing he was going to lose next turn, he conceded the Duel and offered the handshake.
Nathanial Jadotte couldn’t get his Salamangreat plays together, and Shawn Debrew moves on with a 5-1 record!
