Round 10 Feature Match: Tayveon Crowley vs. Samuel LaRose
Tayveon Crowley from Knoxville Tennessee has a few recent YCS top cut finishes, but is hungry for his first YCS victory. He also plays in a lot of Regional Qualifiers, and is hoping to make it into the Points Playoff at this year’s World Championship Qualifier. Samuel LaRose from Asheville, North Carolina hasn’t achieved a YCS top cut finish yet, but is hoping for his first this weekend. Now, both Duelists are 7-2, and are just 2 wins away from a possible Top 32 cut. It’s time to Duel!
Duel One
LaRose started off Duel 1 by Normal Summoning Spright Red and Special Summoning Spright Jet from his hand.
He used Jet’s effect to add Spright Double Cross from his Deck to his hand. He Special Summoned Spright Carrot next, and then combined Jet with Red to Xyz Summon Gigantic Spright. He used Gigantic Spright’s effect to Special Summon Spright Blue from his Deck. That was his fifth Summon, but Gigantic Spright’s effect was preventing Crowley from using the effect of the Nibiru, the Primal Being in his hand! Next, LaRose used Blue’s effect to add Red to his hand and Special Summoned it in Defense Position.
Crowley drew Infinite Impermanence and added it to his hand of Diabellstar the Black Witch, Fire King High Avatar Kirin, Bonfire, and 2 copies of Nibiru, the Primal Being. He activated Bonfire and added Snake-Eye Ash from his Deck to his hand. Next, he activated Infinite Impermanence to negate the effect of Spright Red, but LaRose Chained Carrot’s effect and Tributed Blue to negate it. Next, Crowley Normal Summoned Snake-Eye Ash and activated its effect; but LaRose used Red’s effect by Tributing Carrot and negated its effect. Next, Crowley sent a Nibiru from his hand to his Graveyard to Special Summoned Diabellstar and used Diabellstar’s effect to Set Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye from his Deck to his field. He sent Ash to the Graveyard to Link Summon Relinquished Anima pointing to Gigantic Spright and then used its effect to absorb the Gigantic Spright. LaRose Chained Spright Double Cross to attach Anima to his Gigantic Spright, allowing his Gigantic Spright to remain on the field. Next, Crowley activated Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye by sending Diabellstar to the Graveyard. He Special Summoned Legendary Fire King Ponix and used its effect to add Fire King Sanctuary to his hand. He activated it to place Fire King Island from his Deck into his Field Spell Card Zone and then used Island’s effect to destroy the Kirin in his hand and add Sacred Fire King Garunix from his Deck to his hand. He used Garunix’s effect and Kirin’s effect in Chain. He Summoned Garunix with Kirin’s effect and destroyed Red. Next, he used Garunix’s effect to destroy Arvata from his Deck and Special Summon Kirin from his Graveyard. He sent Ponix and Garunix to the Graveyard to Link Summon Hiita the Fire Charmer, Ablaze and then sent Hiita and Kirin to the Graveyard to Special Summon Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames. He used Princess’s effect to Special Summon Ash and then used Ash’s effect to send the Ash and Sanctuary to the Graveyard and Special Summon Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon. He sent Red and Promethean Princess to the Graveyard to Link Summon Salamangreat Raging Phoenix and then used the Phoenix as a Link Material to Link Summon Worldsea Dragon Zealantis. He used Zealantis’s effect to banish all monsters and Special Summon them back to the field. He then used his Princess’s effect to Special Summon it back from the Graveyard and destroy Gigantic Spright and Flamberge Dragon. He used Flamberge’s effect to Special Summon Ash and Ponix. He Special Summoned Raging Phoenix from his Graveyard with 5800 ATK too, since Flamberge was destroyed. Direct attacks from all of Crowley’s monsters finished LaRose off!

Duel Two
LaRose started off Duel 2 by activating Live☆Twin Sunny’s Snitch and using its effect to add Live☆Twin Lil-la to his hand, prompting Crowley to activate the effect of Droll & Lock Bird from his hand. Next, LaRose Normal Summoned Lil-La and used its effect to Special Summon Live☆Twin Ki-sikil Frost from his Deck. He Special Summoned Spright Red from his hand next, and then sent his two Live Twin monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon Evil★Twin Ki-sikil. He used Ki-sikil’s effect to Special Summon Lil-la from his Graveyard. He Link Summoned Evil★Twin Lil-la next and used its effect to Special Summon Evil★Twin Ki-sikil. Next, he Link Summoned Evil★Twin’s Trouble Sunny and Set 2 cards face-down to his back row.
Crowley drew Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye and added it to his hand of Bonfire, Droll & Lock Bird, Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon, and Infinite Impermanence. In the Draw Phase, LaRose flipped Anti-Spell Fragrance. Crowley promptly conceded, with no further to play to make on that turn.

Duel Three
Crowley started off Duel 3 and opened up with Diabellstar the Black Witch, Nibiru, the Primal Being, Called by the Grave, and 2 copies of Crossout Designator.
He sent a Crossout Designator to the Graveyard to Special Summon Diabellstar the Black Witch and then used Diabellstar’s effect to Set Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye from his Deck to his field. He flipped it up by sending Diabellstar to the Graveyard and Special Summoned Snake-Eye Ash. He used Ash’s effect to add Ponix to his hand and Normal Summoned it. He used Ponix’s effect to add Sanctuary to his hand, and activated it to place Fire King Island from his Deck into his Field Spell Card Zone. Next, he used Ash’s effect and sent it to the Graveyard along with his Sanctuary to Special Summon Flamberge Dragon from his Deck. He used the effect of Fire King Island to destroy Ponix and add Garunix to his hand, and then used Garunix’s effect to Special Summon it and destroy Arvata from his Deck. He used Arvata’s effect to Special Summon Ponix back to his field and then sent Ponix, Flamberge Dragon, and Garunix to his Graveyard to Link Summon Promethean Princess. He used the effect of his Flamberge Dragon to Special Summon Ponix and Ash, and then used Promethean Princess’s effect to Special Summon Arvata. Next, he sent Ash and Promethean Princess to the Graveyard to Link Summon Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf and sent Ponix to the Graveyard to Summon Relinquished Anima linked to Ponix. He returned Flamberge Dragon from his Graveyard to his hand with the Wolf’s effect and then sent Anima and Sunlight Wolf to the Graveyard to Link Summon Selene. He Special Summoned Diabellstar from his Graveyard with Selene’s effect and then used Selene and Diabellstar as Link Materials to Link Summon Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess with 1600 ATK. He Set Called by the Grave and Crossout Designator before ending his turn.
LaRose drew a card then went straight into his Battle Phase. At the end of the Battle Phase, he activated Evenly Matched! Crowley Chained Crossout Designator declaring Triple Tactics Talents just to banish a copy from his Deck and then banished all cards on his field face-down except for his Arvata. In Main Phase 2, LaRose activated Dark Ruler No More to negate Arvata’s effect. He then activated Sunny’s Snitch to add Lil-la from his Deck to his hand and Normal Summoned it. He activated Lil-la’s effect to Special Summon Ki-sikil Frost from his Deck and Crowley used the effect of the Promethean Princess in his Graveyard. He Special Summoned it and destroyed Arvata and Lil-la. Next, he used his Garunix’s effect to Special Summon it. He used Garunix’s on-field effect to destroy Kirin from his Deck and then used Kirin’s effect to Special Summon Arvata from his Graveyard and destroy Ki-sikil Frost, leaving LaRose with no face-up monsters. LaRose Set a card to his back row and then passed his turn.
Crowley drew Bonfire and activated it to add Snake-Eye Oak to his hand. LaRose conceded, realizing he was defeated that turn.
