Round 11 Feature Match: Grayson Kenna vs. Rachamin Yair Brito
Grayson Kenna is a YCS first-timer from Summerville, South Carolina, and he’s currently 8-2 in the tournament with his Branded Voiceless Voice Deck. Now, he’s Dueling against Rachamin Yair Brito from Tampa, Florida, who also has an 8-2 record and will be taking Kenna on with his 60-card Vanquish Soul Fire King Snake-Eye Deck! Brito competed in only one YCS before, and just narrowly missed out on making it into Day 2. Now he’s looking for his redemption, and hoping for a victory in this round so that he has a chance at securing a Top 32 finish. The pressure is on! It’s time to Duel!
Duel One
Kenna opened up Duel 1 with Pot of Prosperity, Trias Hierarchia, Lo, the Prayers of the Voiceless Voice, Prayers of the Voiceless Voice, and Skull Guardian, Protector of the Voiceless Voice. He activated Pot of Prosperity to start by banishing 6 cards from his Extra Deck face-down. He excavated 3 copies of Barrier of the Voiceless Voice, Saffira, Dragon Queen of the Voiceless Voice, Effect Veiler, and Pre-Preparation of Rites. He added a Barrier to his hand and returned the other cards to his Deck. Next, he Normal Summoned Lo and used its effect to place Radiance of the Voiceless Voice from his Deck onto his field. Then, he activated Barrier and used its effect to add Saffira to his hand. He activated its effect by discarding it, and added Sauravis, the Ancient and Ascended to his hand and sent Prayers from his Deck to his Graveyard. He activated Prayers and Tributed the Trias Hierarchia from his hand to Ritual Summon Skull Guardian. Next, He activated Skull Guardian’s effect to add Lo from his Deck to his hand. He used Radiance’s effect to shuffle Prayers from his Graveyard into his Deck and Special Summon Sauravis, Dragon Sage of the Voiceless Voice from his Deck. He passed his turn with an impressive field!
Brito drew a card for his turn and briefly considered whether he had any chance of victory. Concluding that he did not, he conceded the Duel.

Duel Two
Brito started off Duel 2 by Normal Summoning Vanquish Soul Razen and adding Vanquish Soul Dr. Mad Love to his hand. This prompted Kenna to activate the effect of Droll & Lock Bird. Next, he Special Summoned Vanquish Soul Jiaolong and used Razen as a Link Material to Summon Rock of the Vanquisher. He used Rock’s effect to return Razen from his Graveyard to his hand before passing his turn.
Kenna drew Pre-Preparation of Rites and added it to his hand of Prayers of the Voiceless Voice, Barrier of the Voiceless Voice, Pot of Prosperity, and Droll & Lock Bird. In his Standby Phase, Brito reveled Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and Vanquish Soul Razen from his hand with Jiaolong’s effect and added Vanquish Soul Caesar Valius to his hand. Kenna proceeded to his Main Phase and activated Pre-Preparation of Rites. Brito negated its effect with his Ash Blossom. Next, Kenna activated Pot of Prosperity by banishing 6 cards from his Extra Deck face-down. He excavated the top 6 cards of his Deck and added a Lo to his hand before returning the other 5 cards back to his Deck. He Normal Summoned Lo and activated its effect. Brito Chained his Rock of the Vanquisher’s effect to Special Summon Razen from his hand, and then Lo’s effect resolved to place Radiance from his Deck face-up onto his field. Razen’s effect activated in a new Chain, allowing Brito to add Vanquish Soul Pantera from his Deck to his hand. Next, Brito used his Caesar Valius’s effect, and Brito Chained his Radiance’s effect to shuffle a Prayers from his hand into his Deck and add a Lo from his Deck to his hand. When Caesar Valius’s effect resolved, Jiaolong returned to the hand and Caesar Valius hit the field. Next, Brito revealed Mad Love and Jiaolong from his hand with Razen’s effect to destroy all other monsters in the same column as Razen. Rock of the Vanquisher and Lo were destroyed. Kenna activated Barrier of the Voiceless Voice next and attempted to use its effect; but Brito used his Caesar Valius’s effect by revealing Jiaolong, Mad Love, and Pantera from his hand and destroyed Barrier! Kenna conceded, completely outmatched by Brito’s Vanquish Soul cards.
Brito wins the second Duel as quickly as Kenna won the first one! The Match is moving on to a third and final Duel!
Duel Three
Kenna opened up Duel 3 with Diviner of the Herald, Pot of Prosperity, Barrier of the Voiceless Voice, and 2 copies of Saffira, Dragon Queen of the Voiceless Voice. He Normal Summoned Diviner of the Herald and activated its effect by sending Trias Hierarchia from his Deck to his Graveyard, raising its Level to 11. Next, he used his Trias Hierarchia’s effect to Special Summon it by Tributing his Diviner. He used Diviner’s effect to try to Special Summon Lo from his Deck, but Brito stopped it with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Next, Kenna activated the effect of Saffira by discarding it. He added Skull Guardian to his hand and sent Prayers from his Deck to his Graveyard. Next, Kenna banished Saffira from his Graveyard and Tributed his Trias Hierarchia to Special Summon Skull Guardian from his hand. He activated its effect, but lost out to Effect Veiler. Next, Kenna banished 6 cards from his Extra Deck face-down in order to activate Pot of Prosperity. He excavated the top 6 cards of his Deck and added Pre-Preparation of Rites to his hand before returning the other 5 cards to his Deck. Next, he used Pre-Preparation of Rites to add Prayers and Sauravis, the Ancient and Ascended from his Deck to his hand. He activated Barrier of the Voiceless Voice next, and used its effect to add Lo from his Deck to his hand. He activated Prayers and Tributed the Lo from his hand to Special Summon Sauravis in Defense Position. He activated Lo’s effect to try to Special Summon it from his Graveyard, but Brito Chained the effect of Bystial Druiswurm from his hand and banished Lo from the Graveyard! Kenna ended his turn, disappointed that he wasn’t able to get Lo onto his field or into his Graveyard.
Brito drew a card and then activated Stake your Soul! by revealing Fire King High Avatar Kirin from his hand. He Special Summoned Razen from his Deck into the same column as Sauravis and then used Razen’s effect to add Mad Love to his hand. Next, he used Razen’s effect by revealing Mad Love and Kirin from his hand to destroy Sauravis. Kenna banished Prayers from his Graveyard to Special Summon another copy of Sauravis, the Ancient and Ascended from his Deck. Brito continued his turn by sending Razen and Druiswurm to the Graveyard to Link Summon Hiita the Fire Charmer, Ablaze; but Kenna used the effect of his Sauravis to return Sauravis to his hand and negate the Summon! Druiswurm’s effect tried to destroy Skull Guardian, but Kenna used the effect of the Sauravis in his hand to stop it. Next, Brito Normal Summoned Mad Love and used its effect to add Vanquish Soul – Continue? to his hand. He activated it and paid 500 Life Points to Special Summon Razen. He combined Razen with Mad Love to Xyz Summon Infernal Flame Banshee. He detached Razen to add Snake-Eyes Poplar from his Deck to his hand. He used Poplar’s effect to Special Summon it, and then used Poplar’s on-field effect to add Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye from his Deck to his hand. Next, he sent Poplar and Banshee to the Graveyard to Link Summon S:P Little Knight. He used Poplar’s effect to put the Flame Banshee in his Spell & Trap Card Zone and then used Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye. He sent the Flame Banshee to the Graveyard to Special Summon Legendary Fire King Ponix from his Deck. He activated the effect of Ponix to add Circle of the Fire Kings from his Deck to his hand. He activated Fire King Sanctuary and used its effect to place Fire King Island from his Deck onto his field. He used the Island’s effect to destroy the Ponix on his field and add Sacred Fire King Garunix from his Deck to his hand. He Special Summoned it and then used its effect to destroy Fire King Avatar Kirin from his Deck. He used Fire King Avatar Kirin’s effect to send Snake-Eye Ash from his Deck to his Graveyard. Next, he sent Little Knight and Garunix to the Graveyard to Link Summon Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames. He used its effect to Special Summon Snake-Eye Ash and then used Ash’s effect to add Kurikara Divincarnate from his Deck to his hand. He used Ash’s effect to send it to the Graveyard along with Sanctuary and Special Summon Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon from his Deck. He used Flamberge Dragon’s effect to move Skull Guardian to the Spell & Trap Card Zone. Next, he attacked directly with Promethean Princess and Flamberge Dragon, dropping Kenna down to 2300 Life Points. Still in the Battle Phase, he activated Circle of the Fire Kings and Special Summoned Razen from his Deck by destroying Flamberge Dragon. He then used his Flamberge Dragon’s effect to Special Summon Ash and Poplar from his Graveyard in Attack Position. Direct attacks from Poplar, Ash, and Razen finished Kenna off!
