Round 6 Feature Match: Dominic Couch vs. Corey Wigglesworth
It is time for Round 6 here at YCS Raleigh! We have Dominic Couch from Savannah, GA, and Corey Wigglesworth from Lynchburg, VA. Both Duelists are currently undefeated and are hoping to keep it that way! Couch is on Snake-Eye and Wigglesworth is playing a Thunder Dragon Branded Despia Deck. Hoping to summon out Thunder Dragon Colossus after a huge string of combos.
Duel One
Couch rolled a 12 and chose to start the first Duel:
Wigglesworth opened with a hand of Triple Tactics Thrust, Fusion Duplication, Branded Fusion, Branded in High Spirits, and Fallen of Albaz.
Couch started the Duel off with a Normal Summon of Snake-Eye Ash. He activated Ash and added Snake-Eyes Poplar with its effect. He then activated Poplar and Special Summoned Poplar and added a Divine Temple of the Snake-Eye from his Deck to his hand. Couch paused for a moment before activating WANTED: Seeker of Sinful Spoils to search for Diabellstar the Black Witch.
Couch activated his Divine Temple of the Snake-Eye and placed Snake-Eye Oak in his Spell & Trap Zone. He activated the effect of Snake-Eye Ash, sending itself and Oak to the Graveyard to Special Summon Snake-Eye Flamberge Dragon. Then, he Link Summoned I:P Masquerena with Flamberge and Poplar. He activated Flamberge and Poplar’s effects. Moving Flamberge to the back-row and summoning Oak and Ash. Couch then activated Oak and Special Summoned Poplar. Then, he Special Summoned Diabellstar sending his Flamberge from the Spell & Trap Zone to the Graveyard. He activated Diabellstar’s effect and Set Wanted. He Link Summoned Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames with I:P and Poplar and activated Promethean’s effect to Special Summon Flamberge Dragon. Then, he activated Flamberge Dragon’s effect to put I:P Masquerena in the Spell & Trap Zone.
Couch then paused for a moment before activating the effect of Snake-Eye Oak, sending itself and Promethean Princess to the Graveyard to Special Summon another Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon from his Deck. He then activated Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye from his hand by and sent his Divine Temple to the Graveyard to Special Summon Jet Synchron!
Couch Synchro Summoned Formula Synchron using Jet Synchron and Snake-Eye Ash. He activated Formula Synchron’s effect and drew 1 card. Then, Couch used the second effect of his WANTED and put Original Sinful Spoils on the bottom of his Deck to draw another card. Couch discarded Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to Special Summon back Jet Synchron. He tuned Jet with Diabellstar to Synchro Summon PSY-Framelord Omega. He then activated Omega’s effect and banished Wigglesworth’s Branded in High Spirits. Then, Formula was tuned with Flamberge Dragon to Synchro Summon Bystial Dis Pater!
Couch activated Dis Pater’s effect and Special Summoned back his PSY-Framelord Omega then used Omega’s effect again and hit Triple Tactics Thrust. He then proceeded to end his turn.
Wigglesworth drew Aluber the Jester of Despia for his turn. He paused and looked at his hand for a moment before Normal Summoning the Aluber that he drew. He attempted to activate its effect, but Couch chose to Chain his Bystial Dis Pater’s effect and shuffled Wigglesworth’s Triple Tactics Thrust back into the Deck to negate Aluber.
After the Chain was resolved, Couch activated Flamberge’s effect to Special Summon I:P Masquerena. Wigglesworth attempted to activate Branded Fusion but was stopped by Couch’s Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! Wigglesworth attempted to end his Main Phase but Couch activated I:P Masquerena’s effect to Link Summon S:P Little Knight by using Flamberge Dragon as a Link Material. Couch activated both Little Knight and Flamberge’s effects. He summoned back Snake-Eye Oak and Poplar and banished Aluber. He then activated his Poplar and Oak, added back Ash then added Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye from his Deck to his hand.
Wigglesworth set Fusion Duplication and ended his turn. During the End Phase, Couch activated WANTED: Seeker of Sinful Spoils and grabbed another Diabellstar the Black Witch.
Couch drew for his turn and brought back his PSY-Framelord Omega. He switched Dis Pater to Attack Mode and then activated Omega to banish the last card in Wigglesworth’s hand: Fallen of Albaz. Couch activated Bystial Dis Pater and brought back the Omega and then switched the rest of his monsters to Attack Mode.
He went into the Battle Phase. Attacking with his weakest monsters first. First Poplar, then Oak, then Little Knight. Couch attacked with Omega and then tried to attack directly to seal the game with Bystial Dis Pater. On the Dis Pater attack, Wigglesworth activated Fusion Duplication to copy Branded Fusion! He sent Fallen of Albaz and Blazing Cartesia the Virtuous to his Graveyard to Fusion Summon Albion the Branded Dragon.
Wigglesworth activated Albion’s effect to Fusion Summon, and Couch negated it with Dis Pater’s effect, shuffling back Wigglesworth’s Branded in High Spirits. Dis Pater then continued to attack Albion. At the end of the Battle Phase, Wigglesworth still had 2000 LP left to Couch’s 8000.
Couch continued into his Main Phase 2 and activated Snake-Eye Oak, sending itself and Snake-Eyes Poplar to Summon Snake-Eye Ash from his Deck. He activated both Ash and Poplar, adding another copy of Ash from his Deck to his hand and placing Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon in the Spell & Trap Zone. Then, he Link Summoned Dharc the Dark Charmer, Gloomy with S:P Little Knight and Omega. Couch activated Dharc’s effect and Special Summoned Fallen of Albaz. Then he activated PSY-Framelord Omega’s effect in the Graveyard and put itself and S:P Little Knight back in the Extra Deck.
Couch Link Summoned Relinquished Anima with Snake-Eye Ash and then Link Summoned S:P Little Knight with Anima and Albaz. He used Little Knight’s effect and banished the Albion from the Graveyard.
Continuing his Main Phase 2, Couch Special Summoned Diabellstar the Black Witch by sending his Flamberge Dragon to the Graveyard. He activated Flamberge and Special Summoned back the Oak and Ash. He Set a copy of WANTED: Seeker of Sinful Spoils with his Diabellstar that he just Special Summoned.
Couch then Link Summoned Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess using Dharc, Diabellstar, and Ash. He activated Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye and sent Snake-Eye Oak to Special Summon Ash from his hand. Then, he activated the effect of WANTED in the Graveyard, putting Original Sinful Spoils on the bottom of his Deck, he Set 1 and passed.
During the End Phase, Wigglesworth tried to use the effect of Cartesia but it was stopped by Apollousa.
Wigglesworth drew Branded Opening, but unable to play it he conceded the first Duel!
Duel Two
Wigglesworth opted to go first for the second Duel. He started off the Duel with Fusion Duplication, 2 copies of Aluber the Jester of Despia, Triple Tactics Talent, and Branded in Red.
Wigglesworth Normal Summoned Aluber and activated its effect but Couch chained Infinite Impermanence! Wigglesworth Set Branded in Red and ended his turn.
Couch drew for his turn and started off with Bonfire. He added Snake-Eye Ash to his hand and then Normal Summoned it. He activated Ash’s effect and added Snake-Eyes Poplar to his hand. He then activated Poplar’s effect in his hand, Special Summoned it, and added Divine Temple of the Snake-Eye from his Deck to his Hand. Couch activated his Divine Temple of the Snake-Eye and placed Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon in his Spell & Trap Zone. He linked away Poplar for Relinquished Anima!
Couch activated Relinquished Anima’s effect and slurped up Aluber and then Poplar went to the Spell & Trap Zone. Couch Link Summoned Dharc the Dark Charmer, Gloomy. He activated Dharc’s effect and targeted Wigglesworth’s Aluber. Wigglesworth Chained his Set Branded in Red! He tried to target the Aluber to add it back to his hand, but Couch Chained his Called By The Grave! Couch banished Aluber with his Called By.
Couch then activated WANTED: Seeker of Sinful Spoils and added Diabellstar. He Special Summoned Diabellstar by sending Jet Synchron from his hand to the Graveyard. He Set Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye with Diabellstar’s effect. Then, he used Dharc and Diabellstar to Link Summon Selene, Queen of the Master Magicians. He used Selene’s effect to bring back Diabellstar and then Link Summoned Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess, using both monsters.
Couch then flipped over his Set Original Sinful Spoils and sent Flamberge Dragon to the Graveyard to Special Summon Snake-Eye Ash. He activated Flamberge Dragon’s effect and brought back Ash and Jet Synchron. He then activated Oak, sending itself and Jet for another Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon, and used WANTED’s effect with Original Sinful Spoils to draw 1 card. He discarded Bonfire for Jet Synchron and went into his Battle Phase.
He attacked directly with everything and wiped out Wigglesworth’s Life Points!
Dominic Couch is 6-0 with his Snake-Eye Deck!
