Just like with Advanced Constructed, Speed Duel also has an ATTACK OF THE GIANT CARD!! Event at every YCS. We are now in the finals of Sunday’s Speed Duel Giant Card Event. 

Yesterday’s Speed Duel ATTACK OF THE GIANT CARD!! Event had 37 Speed Duelists. Today’s had 44 Speed Duelists! With only 2 Speed Duelists remaining, it is time to see who will walk away with a GIANT-sized copy of NEXT! Gustavo Martinez from El Salvador across from him is Cody Bodnar, from Frederick, Maryland. 

Bodnar is actually the owner of an OTS in Frederick called Tournament City Games! He’s here trying to take home a GIANT card to hang on the walls of his store. 

Martinez is using Cyber Angels with Alexis’ Machine Angel Ascension Skill, and Bodnar is using Jim’s Major in Paleontology Skill from the new Speed Duel GX: Midterm Destruction Box!

Both Duelists exchanged plenty of friendly conversation before rolling their dice. Bodnar won the dice roll and opted to go second.

Duel One

Bodnar started the Duel by activating his Major in Paleontology Skill Card.

Martinez started the Duel off with Machine Angel Ritual, Cyber Angel Izana, Cyber Angel Idaten, and Senju of the Thousand Hands. He Normal Summoned Senju and activated its effect to add Cyber Angel Benten from his Deck to his hand.

He then activated Machine Angel Ritual and Tributed Cyber Angel Benten to Ritual Summon Cyber Angel Idaten. He activated both of his Cyber Angel effects. He added another Benten and Machine Angel Ritual from his Deck to his hand.

Martinez activated his second Machine Angel Ritual! He Tributed his Benten from his hand and Idaten from the field to Ritual Summon Cyber Angel Izana. He activated both his Idaten and Benten, Benten added Senju from the Deck to hand and Izana gained 1000 ATK & DEF.

Bodnar drew and Normal Summoned Delta the Magnet Warrior and activated its effect to send another Delta from the Deck to the Graveyard. He then activated Foolish Burial to send Weathering Soldier to the Graveyard. He activated Weathering Soldier’s effect and added Time Stream.

He activated his Skill Card’s effect and banished a card from his hand face-down to get a Dig Counter, he then removed the Dig Counter and banished Benten and Delta for Fossil Warrior Skull Knight. He activated Time Stream from his hand and Tributed Skull Knight for Fossil Dragon Skullgios!

Skullgios attacked Senju and immediately knocked out all of Martinez’s Life Points!

Duel Two

Martinez opted to go second in Duel 2. He opened Galaxy Cyclone, Cyber Angel Benten, Sonic Bird, and Machine Angel Ritual. 

Bodnar activated his Major in Paleontology Skill at the start of the Duel. He Set 1 monster and ended his turn.

Martinez drew Cyber Angel Izana for his turn. He activated his Machine Angel Ascension and discarded Galaxy Cyclone to add Cyber Angel Idaten. He then activated Machine Angel Ritual and Tributed Benten to Ritual Summon Idaten. He activated both Benten and Idaten. Idaten added back Machine Angel Ritual from the Graveyard and Benten added Senju from the Deck to the hand.  

Martinez then Normal Summoned Senju and activated its effect to add another Cyber Angel Idaten. He activated Machine Angel Ritual and Tributed both Idatens for Cyber Angel Izana! He activated both Idaten effects to boost Izana by 2000 ATK in total. 

Martinez went into his Battle Phase and had Senju attack Bodnar’s Set Weathering Soldier, then Izana attacked directly to close out the second Duel!

We are going to the third and final Duel of the Match!

Duel Three

Bodnar made Martinez go first for the final Duel. Bodnar activated his Skill Card one last time. Martinez started off the third Duel with Mystical Space Typhoon, Senju of the Thousand Hands, Machine Angel Ritual, and Cyber Angel Idaten. 

He started his turn by Normal Summoning Senju of the Thousand Hands and activated its effect to add Cyber Angel Benten from his Deck to his hand. He activated Machine Angel Ritual to Ritual Summon Cyber Angel Idaten by Tributing Benten. He activated both Benten and Idaten and added Machine Angel Ritual and Cyber Angel Izana from his Deck to his hand. 

He then activated the effect of his Machine Angel Ascension Skill and sent Mystical Space Typhoon from his hand to the Graveyard to add Cyber Angel Idaten from his Deck to his hand. He activated another Machine Angel Ritual and Tributed Idaten from his hand and Senju from the field to Ritual Summon Cyber Angel Izana. He activated Idaten’s effect in the Graveyard and boosted both of his monsters by 1000 ATK.

Bodnar drew for his turn. He started off by activating Foolish Burial from his hand. He sent Weathering Soldier from his Deck to the Graveyard. He then activated Weathering Soldier’s effect and added Shell Knight from his Deck to his hand. 

Bodnar then activated his Major In Paleontology Skill effect to get a Dig Counter. He removed the Counter and banished Weathering Soldier and Senju from the Graveyards to Fusion Summon Fossil Warrior Skull Bone. 

Bodnar activated Time Stream and Tributed his Skull Bone to Special Summon Fossil Warrior Skull Knight. He activated Skull Bone’s effect in the Graveyard and banished it to add another Time Stream from his Deck to his hand. He used the second Time Stream to upgrade Skull Knight into Fossil Dragon Skullgios! 

Bodnar proceeded to Set 2 cards to his Spell & Trap Zone and 1 monster. He moved to his Battle Phase and had Skullgios attack Idaten. He activated Skullgios’ effect and switched Idaten’s ATK and DEF. Martinez protected Idaten with Machine Angel Ritual’s effect. He then ended his turn. 

Bodnar is at 4000 LP, Martinez is at 2200 LP.

Martinez drew Creature Swap! He looked over the field and what was in each Graveyard. He Set the Creature Swap. He switched both of his monsters to Attack Position and moved into his Battle Phase. He had Cyber Angel Izana attack Skullgios. Bodnar tried to destroy Izana with Skullgios’ effect but it was protected by the other Machine Angel Ritual. Izana attacked again into a Set Weathering Soldier. Bodnar used Weathering Soldier’s effect to add Time Stream from his Deck to his hand. Idaten attacked Bodnar directly!

Bodnar is at 1400 LP, Martinez is at 2200 LP now.

Bodnar drew for his turn and then flipped up his Set Hammer Shot! Hammer Shot destroyed Martinez’s Cyber Angel Izana. Bodnar then flipped his Set Foolish Burial and used it to send Delta the Magnet Warrior to the Graveyard. 

Bodnar activated his Skill Card’s effect and banished a card in his hand face-down to get a Dig Counter. He removed the Dig Counter to Fusion Summon Skull Bone with Delta and Weathering Soldier in the Graveyard. He then activated Time Stream to Tribute Skull Bone for Skull Knight and then banished his old Time Stream from the last turn to bring back Skullgios and Martinez offered the handshake!

Cody Bodnar just won the Sunday Speed Duel ATTACK OF THE GIANT CARD!! With his Major in Paleontology Deck!
