Round 11 Feature Match: Enzo Fiallos vs. Joseph Alvarez
Joseph Alvarez from Chicago, Illinois has competed in YCS tournaments in the past, but never made it into the Top Cut. Now, he has an 8-2 record with his Floowandereeze and is one win away from a shot at the Top 32. But his opponent in Round 11, Enzo Fiallos, won’t make that easy for him to achieve. Enzo Fiallos from New Jersey made the Top 8 in the 2023 Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME World Championship and has made it into the Top Cut of a YCS many times before. Now, he’s looking for his first YCS victory. Alvarez is using a Floowandereeze Deck, which may give him the edge over Fiallos’s Snake-Eye Deck in this Match. It’s time to Duel!
Duel One
Fiallos started off Duel 1 by activating WANTED: Seeker of Sinful Spoils in the Draw Phase and added Snake-Eyes Diabellstar from his Deck to his hand.
He Special Summoned Diabellstar the Black Witch by sending Snake-Eyes Diabellstar from his hand to his Graveyard and used his Black Witch’s effect to Set Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye from his Deck to his field. He flipped it and sent Black Witch to the Graveyard to Special Summon Snake-Eye Ash. He used Ash’s effect to add Snake-Eyes Poplar from his Deck to his hand, then used Poplar’s effect to Special Summon it from his hand. He used Poplar’s effect on the field to add Divine Temple of the Snake-Eye from his Deck to his hand and then activated it to put Snake-Eye Oak from his Deck into his back row as a Continuous Spell Card. He used Ash’s effect to send it and Oak to his Graveyard and Special Summon Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon. He then sent Flamberge Dragon and Poplar to the Graveyard to Link Summon I:P Masquerena. He used the effects of Flamberge Dragon and Poplar. Poplar’s effect placed Snake-Eyes Diabellstar into his back row and Flamberge Dragon’s effect Special Summoned Oak and Ash. Oak’s effect Special Summoned Poplar. Next, he used Snake-Eyes Diabellstar’s effect to Special Summon it from his back row and place Flamberge Dragon from his Graveyard into his Spell & Trap Card Zone. He sent Masquerena and Snake-Eyes Diabellstar from his field to his Graveyard to Link Summon Selene, Queen of the Master Magicians and used its effect to Special Summon Snake-Eyes Diabellstar. He used Selene and Poplar to Link Summon Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess with 1600 ATK. Next, he used Oak’s effect to send it and Ash to the Graveyard to Summon another Flamberge Dragon. He used Flamberge Dragon’s effect to move the Masquerena in his Graveyard to his back row as a Continuous Spell Card. He then combined Flamberge Dragon with Snake-Eyes Diabellstar to Xyz Summon Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy. He banished WANTED from his Graveyard to use its effect next, sending Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye from his Graveyard to his Deck to draw a card. He Set 2 cards to his back row and ended his turn.
Fiallos opened up Duel 1 with Pot of Duality, Dark Ruler No More, Floowandereeze and the Dreaming Town, Floowandereeze & Toccan, and Floowandereeze and the Advent of Adventure. He drew Floowandereeze and the Magnificent Map and then activated Pot of Duality in his Main Phase. He excavated Floowandereeze & Eglen and 2 copies of Pot of Prosperity from the top of his Deck and added a Prosperity to his hand. Next, he activated Dark Ruler No More to negate the effects of all monsters on Fiallos’s field. He activated Pot of Prosperity next by banishing 6 cards from his Extra Deck face-down. He excavated the top 6 cards of his Deck and added a Triple Tactics Talent to his hand before returning the other 5 cards back to his Deck. Next, he activated Floowandereeze and the Magnificent Map. He activated its effect by revealing Toccan from his hand and banished Floowandereeze & Robina from his Deck. He Summoned the Toccan and activated its effect targeting Robina, then Chained the effect of Robina to add it to his hand. Fiallos Chained the effect of his Divine Temple to Special Summon Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon from his back row. Alvarez Normal Summoned Floowandereeze & Robina and used its effect to add Floowandereeze & Eglen from his Deck to his hand and then Normal Summon the Eglen. Next, he used Eglen’s effect to add Floowandereeze & Empen from his Deck to his hand and Tribute Summon it by Tributing Eglen and Robina. He activated Empen’s effect and Chained the effect of his banished Eglen to return Eglen to his hand. Fiallos Chained the effect of Infinite Impermanence to negate Empen’s effect before Toccan returned to Alvarez’s hand. Next, Fiallos activated his Flamberge Dragon’s effect to Special Summon I:P Masquerena and then used his Masquerena’s effect to send Masquerena and Flamberge Dragon to the Graveyard and Link Summon S:P Little Knight. He activated the effects of Flamberge Dragon and Little Knight, banishing Empen from the field with Little Knight’s effect and Special Summoning Oak and Ash with the effect of Flamberge Dragon. He used Oak’s effect to Special Summon Poplar and used Ash’s effect to add another Ash to his hand. Alvarez activated Triple Tactics Talent to try to look at Fiallos’s hand and return a card to his Deck, but he accidentally used it in the column that Fiallos previously activated Infinite Impermanence and it was negated! He Set 2 cards to his back row and passed his turn. In the End Phase, Fiallos activated his face-down WANTED and added Diabellstar the Black Witch from his Deck to his hand.
Fiallos sent Ash and Poplar to his Graveyard to Link Summon Knightmare Phoenix co-linked with Little Knight. He used the effects of Poplar and Phoenix, discarding Black Witch to use Phoenix’s effect. He targeted Dreaming Town to destroy it, and Alvarez Chained it to Normal Summon Eglen from his hand. Fiallos drew a card from Phoenix’s effect and put Flamberge into his Spell & Trap Card Zone with Poplar’s effect. Next, Alvarez activated Eglen’s effect, Chaining the effect of his Robina in banishment. He returned Robina to his hand and then added Raiza the Mega Monarch from his Deck to his hand with Eglen’s effect. He Tributed his 2 monsters to Summon the Raiza. Fiallos activated his Temple’s effect, targeting Flamberge Dragon, and Alvarez used his Raiza’s effect to put the Flamberge Dragon on the top of his Deck and try to return Number 38 and Oak to Fiallos’s hand. He Chained the effects of Eglen and Toccan from banishment to return them to his hand, and then Fiallos Chained Little Knight’s effect to banish Number 38 and Oak and prevent them from going to his hand. Fiallos sent Apollousa, Little Knight, and Knightmare Phoenix to the Graveyard next, Link Summoning Accesscode Talker. He used its effect to target Apollousa in his Graveyard so that Accesscode Talker could gain 4000 Attack Points. On resolution, Alvarez banished Eaglen from his hand with Floowandereeze and the Advent of Adventure, but Fiallos negated it with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. He activated Triple Tactics Talent to take control of Raiza next, and then Special Summoned Diabellstar the Black Witch by sending Snake-Eye Ash from his hand to his Graveyard. He used its effect to Set a WANTED from his Deck and then entered the Battle Phase! Direct attacks from Accesscode Talker, Raiza, and Diabellstar wiped out all 8000 of Alvarez’s Life Points!

Duel Two
Alvarez opened up Duel 2 with Floowandereeze & Robina, Floowandereeze & Empen, Floowandereeze and the Unexplored Winds, Harpie’s Feather Storm, and Floowandereeze and the Advent of Adventure.
He activated Floowandereeze and the Unexplored Winds and then Normal Summoned Floowandereeze & Robina. He activated its effect, and then Fiallos Chained Infinite Impermanence targeting Robina. Alvarez Chained Advent of Adventure to banish Robina and add Magnificent Map to his hand after gaining 500 Life Points! Robina’s effect resolved since it left the field before Infinite Impermanence resolved, and Alvarez added Eglen to his hand. He Normal Summoned the Eglen and activated its effect, then Chained the effect of his banished Robina; but Fiallos used another Infinite Impermanence to negate the effect of Eglen! Alvarez activated Magnificent Map next and used the effect of his Unexplored Winds to shuffle an Empen from his hand into his Deck and draw Swallow’s Cowrie. He activated it by banishing Robina from his hand and added Toccan from his Deck to his hand. Next, he used his Map’s effect by revealing Toccan. He banished Empen from his Deck, Summoned Toccan, and Fiallos immediately conceded to save time.

Duel Three
Fiallos started off Duel 3 by Normal Summoning Snake-Eye Ash and using its effect to add Snake-Eyes Poplar from his Deck to his hand. He used its effect to Special Summon it and then used its on-field effect to add Divine Temple of the Snake-Eye to his hand. Next, he sent a Snake-Eye Ash to his Graveyard to Summon Diabellstar the Black Witch from his hand and used its effect to Set Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye. He activated Temple and used its effect to place Snake-Eyes Diabellstar in his back row. He used his 3 monsters to Link Summon Selene. He used the effect of Selene, Chaining the effect of Poplar. Poplar’s effect placed Ash into his back row and Selene gained 3 Spell Counters. Fiallos removed all 3 Spell Counters to Special Summon Black Witch back to his field, then sent Selene and Black Witch to the Graveyard to Link Summon Apollousa with 1600 ATK. He flipped Original Sinful Spoils to send Ash to the Graveyard and Special Summon Oak, then used Oak’s effect to Special Summon Poplar. He Special Summoned Snake-Eyes Diabellstar from his back row next, and after a flurry of plays that involved Link Summoning Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames, he had Apollousa, Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy, and Flamberge Dragon on his field, with I:P Masquerena in his back row as a Spell Card and Divine Temple of the Snake-Eyes in his Field Spell Zone. He activated Deck Lockdown and then ended his turn.
Alvarez opened up Duel 3 with Pot of Duality, Pot of Prosperity, Triple Tactics Thrust, Change of Heart, and Harpie’s Feather Storm. He drew Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay for his turn. He activated Change of Heart targeting Apollousa and took control of it. Next, he Set Feather Storm and ended his turn. Apollousa passed back to Fiallos in the End Phase. After getting it back, he used Flamberge Dragon’s effect to Special Summon Masquerena from his back row. Alvarez conceded, unable to use his Pot cards due to the effect of Deck Lockdown and realizing that he had no chance of making it to his next turn.
