Jacob Clepper

Reyes Velez opened with Effect Veiler, Infinite Impermanence, Sonata the Melodious Diva, Ostinato, and 1st Movement Solo. He drew a second Ostinato for turn! During the Standby Phase, however, Clepper activated Welcome Labrynth, Special Summoning Arianna the Labrynth Servant from his Deck. He then used Arianna to add Lady Labrynth of the Silver Castle from his Deck, then used its effect to Special Summon it to the field.

Reyes Velez started by activating Ostinato, sending Soprano the Melodious Songstress and Refrain from his Deck to Fusion Summon Bacha the Melodious Maestra. He activated Bacha’s effect to Summon another Refrain from the Deck, then activated Refrain to add Couplet the Melodious Songstress to his hand. He triggered Couplet’s effect, Special Summoning Soprano from the Graveyard, and used Soprano to add Refrain back to his hand. Next, he used Soprano and Bacha to Link Summon Protector of the Agents – Moon! He activated Bacha in his Graveyard, Summoning back Soprano. Reyes Velez then used Moon’s effect, tributing Moon to attempt to destroy one of Clepper’s Set cards, and Clepper Chained the Set card, which was Dogmatika Punishment! He also used Lady Labrynth to Set Trap Trick from the Deck, and resolved Punishment by sending Elder Entity N’tss to the Graveyard to destroy Soprano. In the following Chain, Clepper used N’tss to destroy Refrain, and triggered Stovie Torbie to Summon it back to the field.

Reyes Velez then activated Couplet in his Pendulum Zone, and used its to search for Melodious Concerto. With no monsters on the field, he then activated a second copy of Ostinato, sending Couplet and Sonata the Melodious Diva to the Graveyard to Fusion Summon Schuberta the Melodious Maestra. He Special Summoned another Sonata from his hand, then placed Refrain in his other Pendulum Zone, using its effect to send Canon the Melodious Diva to the Graveyard. Entering the Battle Phase, Shuberta destroyed Lady Labrynth while Sonata attacked Arianna for 100 damage. Reyes Velez then activated the effect of Shuberta, banishing Welcome, Lady, and Stovie Torbie from Clepper’s Graveyard.

In Main Phase 2, Reyes Velez activated Concerto, fusing Refrain, Couplet, and Schuberta into Flowering Etoile the Melodious Magnificat! He activated Refrain’s and Couplet’s effects to place themselves back to the Pendulum Zones, and then Pendulum Summoned Refrain to his Extra Monster Zone. Finally, he used Refrain and Sonata to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Azalea, which destroyed Clepper’s Trap Trick before sending itself to the Graveyard. Reyes Velez Set a card in his backrow.

Brian Reyes Velez

During the End Phase, Clepper activated Big Welcome Labrynth, Special Summoning Lovely Labrynth of the Silver Castle and returning Stovie Torbie to his hand. He used Lovely’s effect to destroy one of Reyes Velez’s cards, but Reyes Velez responded with the effect of Etoile, banishing itself, so Clepper destroyed Reyes Velez’s face-down Infinite Impermanence. Reyes Velez then returned Etoile to the field.

During Clepper’s Standby Phase, Reyes Velez activated Etoile’s effect again, returning Lovely to Clepper’s hand. Clepper activated Stovie Torbie’s effect, discarding it and Lovely to set Welcome Labrynth from the Deck. He then Normal Summoned Stovie Torbie, and used it to Xyz Summon Super Starslayer TY-PHON – Sky Crisis. TY-PHON attacked Reyes Velez’s Life Points directly, and then in the End Phase, Etoile returned to the field.

Reyes Velez drew Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit for turn. He started by Pendulum Summoning Refrain, activating its effect to search for Couplet, then activated Couplet’s effect to Special Summon Soprano from the Graveyard. He triggered Soprano to add Sonata back to hand, then activated Soprano’s effect, fusing Soprano and Refrain into Bacha. He activated Bacha’s effect, while Clepper responded by activating Welcome Labrynth, Special Summoning Arianna from the Deck, and Reyes Velez Summoned Shopina the Melodious Maestra. Clepper used Arianna to search for Lady Labrynth of the Silver Castle. Reyes Velez activated Shopina, adding Soprano back to hand, then Normal Summoned Soprano and fused Soprano and Bacha to Fusion Summon another Schuberta! Reyes Velez used Bacha to Summon Soprano, while Melodious Concerto allowed him to draw Ghost Mourner & Moonlit Chill. Finally, Reyes Velez used Soprano to fuse with Shopina to Fusion Summon Bloom Diva the Melodious Choir

Reyes Velez proceeded to the Battle Phase. Before he could declare an attack, Clepper activated Destructive Daruma Karma Cannon! Reyes Velez responded with Schuberta, banishing Stovie Torbie, Big Welcome, and Welcome Labrynth; Clepper responded by banishing Big Welcome from his Graveyard to bounce his own Arianna to hand; and finally, Reyes Velez activated Etoile, banishing itself, Shuberta, and Bloom Diva until the End Phase, but choosing not to return any of Clepper’s cards to hand. This left TY-PHON as the only monster to be flipped face-down.

In Main Phase 2, Reyes Velez activated 1st Movement Solo, Special Summoning Aria the Melodious Diva from his Deck, before his banished cards returned back to the field. The turn concluded with Clepper activating Lady Labrynth of the Silver Castle in his hand and Summoning it to the field.

Clepper started his turn by Flip Summoning TY-PHON, as well as changing Lady Labrynth to Attack Mode. He entered the Battle Phase, and TY-PHON attacked Etoile, inflicting 100 damage to Reyes Velez’s Life Points, though Etoile was not destroyed because of Reyes Velez’s Aria. Clepper also used Lady Labrynth to attack Bloom Diva, not realizing that Bloom Diva’s effect would destroy Lady Labrynth, keep Reyes Velez’s Life Points safe, and inflict 1900 damage to Clepper’s Life Points!

In Main Phase 2, Clepper Normal Summoned Arianna, but Reyes Velez responded with Effect Veiler. Realizing that Reyes Velez had too many monsters on the field, Clepper conceded the first Duel.

With a board full of Melodious monsters, Reyes Velez wins the first Duel!

Duel Two

Clepper started by Normal Summoning Ariane the Labynth Servant. He activated its effect, discarding Transaction Rollback from his hand, but Reyes Velez responded with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Clepper then activated Labrynth Chandraglier, discarding it and Dimensional Barrier, to Set Big Welcome Labrynth from his Deck. He Set one more card to his backrow and then ended his turn.

The remaining cards in Reyes Velez’s opening hand were Ash Blossom, Harpie’s Feather Duster, Refrain the Melodious Songstress, and Shopina the Melodious Maestra. He drew another Refrain for turn. Reyes Velez started his turn by activating Feather Duster, clearing Clepper’s backrow! Reyes Velez then Normal Summoned Refrain, searching for Couplet the Melodious Songstress. He triggered the effect of Couplet, Special Summoning the other Refrain from his hand. He then placed Couplet to the Pendulum Zone, and searched for Melodious Concerto. Reyes Velez activated Concerto, but Clepper responded by banishing Rollback from his Graveyard, paying half of his Life Points to copy the effect of Dimensional Barrier, calling Fusions! Reyes Velez used his two monsters to Link Summon Bloom Harmonist the Melodious Composer, discarding Shopina to Special Summon Aria the Melodious Diva and Sonata the Melodious Diva, and then ended his turn.

Clepper started by Normal Summoning Arianna the Labrynth Servant and searching for Lady Labrynth of the Silver Castle. He activated Lady Labrynth’s effect, Special Summoning it, and then activated the Big Welcome Labrynth in his Graveyard, banishing it to return Reyes Velez’s Couplet from the Pendulum Zone to the hand. He then used Arianna and Ariane to Xyz Summon Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir in Defense Mode before ending his turn.

Reyes Velez drew 1st Movement Solo. He used all of his monsters on the field, and his opponent’s Bagooska, to Link Summon Underworld Goddess of the Closed World! Underworld Goddess attacked Clepper’s Defense Position Lady Labrynth, and Reyes Velez ended his turn.

Clepper drew a card, but did not play any cards before ending his turn.

Reyes Velez drew Evenly Matched, attacked Clepper’s Life Points directly with Underworld Goddess, and then ended his turn.

On Clepper’s turn, he activated Arias the Labrynth Butler, discarding it to Special Summon another Lady Labrynth from his hand in Attack Mode. He used it to attack Underworld Goddess, destroying both monsters and leaving both players with no cards on the field.

Reyes Velez drew Ostinato for turn! He activated it, and knowing that his opponent only needed to 1000 damage to win, Clepper conceded.

With no monsters on either side of the field, Reyes Velez wins the second with Ostinato!

Reyes Velez wins the Duel, and improves to 4-0 on Day 1 here at YCS Indianapolis!
