Round 4 Feature Match: Milano Fethu vs. Samuel Gonzalez
Milano Fethu from Toronto, Canada and Samuel Gonzalez from Puerto Rico are both 3-0 in YCS Indianapolis. Now, they’re Dueling against one another in a Match that pits Fethu’s Fire King Snake-Eyes Deck against Gonzalez’s Runick Live☆Twin Spright Deck. Fethu’s Deck is the more popular choice in the tournament, but Gonzalez came to the tournament prepared to face it. Only one of these Duelists will be able to advance with a perfect 4-0 record. It’s time to Duel!
Duel One
Gonzalez Normal Summoned Live☆Twin Lil-la and used its effect to Special Summon Live☆Twin Ki-sikil Frost from his Deck.
He Special Summoned Spright Jet from his hand next and used its effect to add Spright Starter to his hand. He activated Runick Slumber next and Special Summoned Hugin the Runick Wings to his field. He used the effects of Hugin and Fountain. He discarded a Lil-la to add a Fountain to his hand and then drew a card with Fountain’s effect by returning a Slumber from his Graveyard to his Deck. Next, he combined Hugin with Jet to Xyz Summon Gigantic Spright and Special Summoned a Spright Carrot from his hand. He used Gigantic Spright’s effect to Special Summon Spright Blue from his Deck and used its effect to add Spright Red to his hand. He Link Summoned I:P Masquerena next, and then Link Summoned Evil★Twin Ki-sikil. He used its effect to Special Summon Lil-la and then Link Summoned Evil★Twin Lil-la. He used Evil★Twin Lil-la’s effect to Special Summon Evil★Twin Ki-sikil from his Graveyard and draw a card. He Special Summoned Red from his hand next and Set 2 cards to his back row.
Fethu opened up Duel 1 with Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye, Diabellstar the Black Witch, Fire King High Avatar Kirin, and 2 copies of Crossout Designator. He drew WANTED: Seeker of Sinfoil Spoils and activated it in his Draw Phase; but Gonzalez Chained Carrot’s effect and Tributed Ki-Sikil to negate it. Next, Fethu sent Crossout Designator from his hand to his Graveyard to Special Summon Diabellstar and Gonzalez used the effect of Red, Tributing Carrot to negate the effect. He Chained Evil★Twin Lil-la’s effect to Special Summon Evil★Twin Ki-sikil. He drew a card with Ki-sikil’s effect. On resolution, he used Masquerena’s effect and sent it to the Graveyard along with Lil-La to Link Summon Knightmare Gryphon co-Linked to Ki-sikil. He used Ki-sikil’s effect to Special Summon Evil★Twin Lil-la from his Graveyard and used Lil-la’s effect to destroy Diabellstar. Fethu passed his turn with no other cards to play.
Gonzalez sent Lil-la and Ki-sikil to the Graveyard to Link Summon Evil★Twin’s Trouble Sunny co-Linked to Knightmare Gryphon and passed his turn. He didn’t get a Battle Phase since he activated Runick Slumber on the previous turn.
Fethu drew Nibiru, the Primal Being next turn. Realizing that he had no way to turn the Duel around, he activated Crossout Designator naming Crossout Designator, laughed, and conceded the Duel.
A strong start for Samuel Gonzalez allows him to take a quick victory with his Runick Evil★Twin Spright Deck in the first Duel!
Duel Two
Fethu opened up Duel 2 with Infinite Impermanence, Divine Temple of the Snake-Eye, Fire King Island, Legendary Fire King Ponix, and Fire King High Avatar Kirin.
He activated Divine Temple of the Snake-Eye and used its effect to place Snake-Eye Ash from his Deck to his Spell & Trap Card Zone as a Continuous Spell. Next, he Normal Summoned Ponix and used its effect to add Fire King Sanctuary from his Deck to his hand. He activated Fire King Island next and then sent Ponix to the Graveyard to Link Summon Relinquished Anima. He used Island’s effect to destroy Kirin from his hand and add Sacred Fire King Garunix from his Deck to his hand. He activated the effects of Garunix and Kirin. He Special Summoned Ponix from the Graveyard with Kirin and Special Summoned Garunix while destroying Fire King Avatar Arvata from his Deck. He used Arvata’s effect to Special Summon Kirin back from his Graveyard and then sent Anima, Ponix, and Garunix from his field to his Graveyard to Link Summon Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames. He used its effect to Special Summon Snake-Eye Ash from his Graveyard and used its effect to add Snake-Eyes Poplar to his hand. He used Poplar’s effect to Special Summon it from his hand and then used its effect on the field to add Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye from his Deck to his hand. He used Ash’s effect to send it to the Graveyard along with the Princess and Special Summon Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon from his Deck. Next, he sent Poplar and Kirin to the Graveyard to Link Summon Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf. He used Poplar’s effect to put Poplar in his back row and then used Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye to send the Poplar to the Graveyard and Special Summon Oak linked to Sunlight Wolf. He used Oak’s effect to Special Summon Snake-Eye Ash and used Sunlight Wolf’s effect to add Kirin from his Graveyard to his hand. Next, he used Poplar and Oak to Link Summon I:P Masquerena, and then he sent I:P Masquerena and Sunlight Wolf to the Graveyard to Link Summon Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess with 1600 ATK. Next, he used Flamberge Dragon’s effect to put Masquerena from his Graveyard into his back row as a Continuous Spell Card. He activated Fire King Sanctuary next and then Set Infinite Impermanence before ending his turn.
Gonzalez activated Runick Slumber to Special Summon a monster and Fethu Chained the effect of Flamberge Dragon to Special Summon I:P Masquerena. Gonzalez discarded a card to activate Hugin’s effect, but lost out to Apollousa’s effect. Gonzalez activated Runick Destruction next targeting Fire King Island, but Fethu protected it with Sanctuary by destroying Kirin from his hand. He used Kirin’s to Special Summon Arvata and destroy Hugin. Hugin’s effect returned it to the Extra Deck. Next, Gonzalez activated Triple Tactics Talent to take control of a monster. Fethu Chained Masquerena’s effect and sent it to the Graveyard along with Flamberge Dragon to Link Summon S:P Little Knight. Gonzalez gained control of Little Knight and then the effects of Flamberge Dragon and Little Knight activated in Chain. Gonzalez tried to use Little Knight’s effect to banish 2 monsters, but Fethu negated it by giving up Apollousa’s last 800 ATK. Fethu used the effect of the Little Knight he Summoned to banish Little Knight from Gonzalez’s field and then Flamberge Dragon’s effect Special Summoned Oak and Ash. In a new Chain, Fethu used the effects of Oak and Ash. He used Oak’s effect to add Ponix to his hand and Ash’s effect to add another Ash to his hand. Gonzalez Normal Summoned Spright Carrot and then Xyz Summoned Super Starslayer TY-PHON – Sky Crisis over it. This prompted Fethu to Special Summon Promethean Princess from his Graveyard by destroying TY-PHON and Oak. Next he used Garunix’s effect to Special Summon it from the Graveyard, and Gonzalez conceded with 1 card in his hand and no cards on his field.
Milano Fethu dominates the second Duel and takes the victory as quickly as he lost the first Duel. The Match is going to a third and final Duel!
Duel Three
Gonzalez started off Duel 3 by activating Runick Tip to add Runick Slumber from his Deck to his hand and banish Nibiru, the Primal Being from the top of Fethu’s Deck. Fethu activated the effect of Droll & Lock Bird. Next, Gonzalez activated Triple Tactics Talent, revealing Fethu’s hand of Snake-Eyes Poplar, Fire King High Avatar Kirin, Ghost Mourner & Moonlit Chill, and Droll & Lock Bird. He returned Poplar to the Deck and ended his turn!
Fethu drew Diabellstar the Black Witch and Special Summoned it by sending a Droll & Lock Bird from his hand to his Graveyard. He activated its effect, but lost out to Gonzalez’s Runick Freezing Curses. Fethu banished the top 3 cards of his Deck due to the effect of the Freezing Curses and then entered his Battle Phase; but Gonzalez used Runick Slumber to stop Diabellstar from attacking and banished 3 more cards from the top of Fethu’s Deck. Gonzalez used the effect of Runick Fountain to return 3 Runick Spells from his Graveyard to his Deck and draw 3 cards.
Gonzalez activated Live☆Twin Sunny’s Snitch and used its effect to add Lil-la to his hand. He Summoned it and used its effect to Special Summon Ki-sikil Frost. Next, he activated Runick Flashing Fire to Special Summon Hugin the Runick Wings from his Extra Deck and discarded a card to add a Fountain to his hand. He used the effect of his Fountain to return a Runick Spell from his Graveyard to his Deck and draw a card. Next, he combined Hugin and Lil-la to Xyz Summon Gigantic Spright and Fethu used the effect of Ghost Mourner to negate its effects. Gonzalez Special Summoned Spright Blue from his hand next and used its effect to add Spright Jet to his hand.
Fethu immediately conceded, seeing no way to win.
