Round 1 Feature Match: Adam Dooley vs. Jonathan Chamba
Welcome to Round 1 of the North America World Championship Qualifier! Over 2600 Duelists are looking for their invitation to the World Championship, including the two we’re featuring right now. Adam Dooley is here from Bettendorf, Iowa, using White Forest Snake-Eye! He’s up against Jonathan Chamba, from Elizabeth, New Jersey, with Fiendsmith Yubel! Both Duelists have a heavy influence from The Infinite Forbidden, legal for the first time in this tournament.

Duel 1
Dooley won the dice roll and played first. He had Snake-Eye Oak, Snake-Eyes Poplar, Rucia of the White Forest, Infinite Impermanence, and WANTED: Seeker of Sinful Spoils. In his Draw Phase, he used WANTED to find Diabellstar the Black Witch. He moved to the Main Phase and Special Summoned Diabellstar, sending Poplar to the graveyard, and Diabellstar’s effect Set Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye on the field. He flipped the Spell Card, sending Diabellstar to the graveyard to Special Summon Snake-Eye Ash. Ash’s effect put a new Poplar in his hand. He activated Poplar’s effect, and Chamba Chained Droll & Lock Bird to prevent further Deck searching. Poplar hit the field, and Dooley used Ash’s effect to send both his monsters to the graveyard, Special Summoning Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon. Poplar put itself in his back row. He Normal Summoned Oak, using it to Special Summon Ash. He used Ash and Flamberge to Link Summon I:P Masquerena, and Flamberge revived Ash and a Poplar. He used Poplar and I:P to Link Summon Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames, which revived Flamberge in Defense Position. He used Oak and Princess to Link Summon Hiita the Fire Charmer, Ablaze, then used that with Ash to play Selene, Queen of the Master Magicians. Selene Special Summoned Diabellstar, and he used both Spellcasters to Link Summon Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess. Flamberge put I:P in his back row, and he Set Infinite Impermanence.
In Chamba’s Draw Phase, Dooley used Flamberge’s effect to Special Summon I:P. Chamba used Called by the Grave to banish Promethean Princess. He then discarded Fiendsmith Engraver from his hand, and Dooley negated it with Apollousa. Chamba Normal Summoned Fabled Lurrie, and Dooley used I:P’s effect. He sent it and Flamberge to the graveyard to Link Summon S:P Little Knight! S:P banished Lurrie, and Flamberge revived both Poplar and Oak. Oak returned Ash to Dooley’s hand, and Poplar put Divine Temple of the Snake-Eye in his hand. Chamba didn’t see a way to play through this, and conceded the first Duel!

Duel 2
Chamba started off with Samsara D Lotus, using its effect to Special Summon Spirit of Yubel, and used Spirit to put Nightmare Pain on the field. He used Nightmare Pain to destroy Spirit of Yubel, adding Gruesome Grave Squirmer to his hand. Spirit’s effect let him Special Summon Yubel from his hand. He Special Summoned Gruesome Grave Squirmer, which destroyed Yubel, and Yubel Special Summoned Yubel – Terror Incarnate. He Link Summoned Unchained Soul Lord of Yama, and it added Unchained Soul of Sharvara to his hand. He returned Yubel and Terror Incarnate from his graveyard to the Deck to play Phantom of Yubel. He used Squirmer’s effect in the graveyard to Special Summon Spirit of Yubel, then had Sharvara destroy Spirit of Yubel to Special Summon itself. Spirit Special Summoned Yubel. He used Sharvara and Yama to Link Summon Unchained Soul of Rage, and Sharvara’s effect Set Abominable Chamber of the Unchained. He used Spirit of Yubel and Samsara D Lotus from his graveyard to play another Phantom of Yubel. He then used Phantom and Soul of Rage to play Moon of the Closed Heaven. He used Moon to play Fiendsmith’s Requiem, and Requiem’s effect Special Summoned Fiendsmith Engraver. He used Engraver with Yubel to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Sequence. Sequence let him Fusion Summon Fiendsmith’s Lacrima, which returned Engraver to his hand. He discarded Engraver to add Fiendsmith’s Tract to his hand, and played it to add a new Engraver to his hand, discarding Fabled Lurrie. He Special Summoned Lurrie. He then used Lurrie and Lacrima for a new Moon. He Special Summoned Engraver from the graveyard, returning Lurrie to his Deck. Then he banished Tract from the graveyard to fuse all his monsters into Fiendsmith’s Desirae! It equipped Sequence.
Dooley had Forbidden Droplet, Tales of the White Forest, Rucia of the White Forest, Evenly Matched, and Snake-Eye Ash. He drew Metaltronis. He moved directly to the Battle Phase to activate Evenly Matched, and Chamba responded with Desirae. Dooley Chained Forbidden Droplet, sending Evenly Matched to the graveyard to negate Phantom of Yubel! Dooley only controlled Droplet now, so Evenly Matched banished everything except Abominable Chamber. Dooley moved to the Main Phase and Normal Summoned Snake-Eye Ash, but Chamba had Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Dooley Link Summoned Relinquished Anima. Chamba used Abominable Chamber to revive Soul of Rage, using its effect on Anima! He used both players’ monsters to Link Summon S:P Little Knight. He tried using its effect to banish Snake-Eye Ash from the graveyard, and Dooley activated Metaltronis.

He began resolving Metaltronis, but decided to concede here instead. He was already in Main Phase 2 and knew Chamba would have a big comeback on his own turn, so this would leave more time to play out a third Duel where Dooley was playing first. The Duelists moved to their Side Decks, with 20 minutes remaining.
Duel 3
Dooley had Infinite Impermanence, Astellar of the White Forest, Snake-Eyes Poplar, Snake-Eye Ash, and Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. He Normal Summoned Snake-Eye Ash, and Chamba shut it down with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Dooley Set Impermanence.

Chamba started with Opening the Spirit Gates, adding Dark Beckoning Beast to his hand. He Normal Summoned it, and Dooley flipped Impermanence to negate it. Chamba played Nightmare Pain, trying to use its effect, and Dooley used Ash Blossom. Chamba passed. Both Duelists were hit by an Impermanence and an Ash Blossom on their first turn, keeping things from getting too crazy yet.
Dooley drew Rucia. He Normal Summoned Poplar, and Chamba had Effect Veiler. Dooley Link Summoned Hiita, and Poplar put Ash Blossom in his back row. Dooley used Hiita to Special Summon Chamba’s Ash Blossom, and used both monsters to play Promethean Princess. Princess’s effect revived Snake-Eye Ash. He used Ash’s effect, sending itself and the backrow Ash Blossom to the graveyard to Special Summon Flamberge from the Deck. He then used Flamberge and Princess to Link Summon Salamangreat Raging Phoenix. Flamberge revived Ash and Poplar. He used Raging Phoenix to Link Summon Worldsea Dragon Zealantis. He then used Zealantis’s effect to banish everything and Special Summon them again. Zealantis’s effect let Dooley trigger his Princess in the graveyard, which destroyed Poplar and Dark Beckoning Beast to revive itself. Poplar’s destruction let him revive Raging Phoenix! He attacked directly with everything, and Chamba offered the handshake!
