July 20th, 2024

Dakota Darpinian from Kansas City, Missouri and Jason Stinson from Tulsa, Oklahoma are both currently 1-0 at the 2024 North America WCQ, and they’re both relying on strategies heavily impacted by The Infinite Forbidden. Darpinian is using a 60-card Exodia Deck using the “Millennium” monsters and Fiendsmith cards, while Stinson is using a Fiendsmith Snake-Eye Deck. Only one of these Duelists will be able to advance to the next round undefeated. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Darpinian opened up Duel 1 with Wedju Temple, Sengenjin Wakes from a Millennium, Fiendsmith’s Tract, Golem that Guards the Millennium Treasures, and Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring.

He started off by activating Fiendsmith’s Tract and added Fabled Lurrie to his hand before discarding it. He used Lurrie’s effect to Special Summon it and then sent it to the Graveyard to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Requiem. He used Requiem’s effect to Tribute it and Special Summon Fiendsmith Engraver from his Deck. Next, he activated Requiem’s effect in the Graveyard to equip it to Engraver. He sent Requiem and Engraver to the Graveyard to Special Summon Necroquip Princess and then Special Summoned Engraver from his Graveyard with its effect by returning Requiem from his Graveyard to his Deck. Darpinian combined his 2 monsters to Xyz Summon Constellar Ptolemy M7 and detached an Xyz Material to activate its effect. He tried to return Engraver to his hand but lost out on its effect to Effect Veiler. Next, Darpinian activated Wedju Temple. He used its effect to place Sengenjin from his hand into his Spell & Trap Card Zone and then placed Shield of the Millennium Dynasty from his Deck into his Spell & Trap Card Zone. He used the Shield’s effect by paying 2000 Life Points to Special Summon it from his back row and add Millennium Ankh from his Deck to his hand. He activated Sengenjin’s effect by revealing his Ankh to Special Summon it from his back row and add another Sengenjin from his Deck to his hand. Next, he activated the effect of the Golem in his hand to place it into his Spell & Trap Card Zone as a Continuous Spell. He sent M7 and Shield to his Graveyard to Link Summon Moon of the Closed Heaven and then sent Moon of the Closed Heaven and Sengenjin to the Graveyard to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Sequence. He used Sequence’s effect to try to Fusion Summon a monster, but lost out to Infinite Impermanence negating the effect of Sequence. Next, he activated the effect of the Golem in his back row by revealing the Ankh from his hand. He Special Summoned it and added Wedju Temple from his Deck to his hand. Next, he sent his Golem and Sequence to the Graveyard to Link Summon Silhouhatte Rabbit. He used its effect to Set Angel Statue – Azurune from his Deck to his field. He activated Millennium Ankh next. He revealed all 5 pieces of Exodia from his Deck to Fusion Summon The Unstoppable Exodia Incarnate!

Its effect returned the Rabbit to his Extra Deck, and then the Ankh returned to his Deck. In the End Phase, he used his Exodia Incarnate’s effect to Set Exxod Fires of Rage from his Deck to his field.

Stinson drew to four cards in his hand and then Normal Summoned Snake-Eye Ash. He activated its effect, but Darpinian negated it with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. He Chained Angel Statute – Azurune to Special Summon. After the Chain resolved, Stinson activated Bonfire, and when Darpinian negated it with the effect of Exodia Incarnate, Stinson Chained WANTED: Seeker of Sinful Spoils to add Diabellstar the Black Witch from his Deck to his hand. He tried to Special Summon the Witch by sending a Poplar from his Deck to his Graveyard. Darpinian negated the Witch’s Summon with the effect of his Angel Statue – Azurune and then Stinson used his Poplar’s effect to return it to his back row. Darpinian then activated Exxod Fires of Rage to destroy all of Stinson’s cards, sending the Ash and Poplar to the Graveyard and leaving him with nothing in his hand or on his field. Stinson conceded, staring down The Unstoppable Exodia Incarnate and having no cards that he could use to stop it.

Dakota Darpinian wins the first Duel with The Unstoppable Exodia Incarnate! Stinson chose to go second in Duel 2!

Duel Two

Darpinian opened up Duel 2 with Super Polymerization, Golem that Guards the Millennium Treasures, Pot of Prosperity, Shield of the Millennium Dynasty, and Sengenjin Wakes from a Millennium. He activated his Shield’s effect to place it in his back row and then paid 2000 Life Points to Special Summon it and add Millennium Ankh from his Deck to his hand. Stinson activated Droll & Lock Bird, stopping Darpinian from adding more cards from his Deck to his hand! He placed the Golem in his back row as a Continuous Spell Card and then Special Summoned it by revealing the Ankh, but couldn’t use its effect to add the Temple from his Deck to his hand due to the effect of Droll & Lock Bird. He Link Summoned Silhouhatte Rabbit and then, immediately realizing that he sided out the card that he could’ve Set with its effect, chose not to use its effect. He activated Millennium Ankh next, and revealed all 5 pieces of Exodia from his Deck to Special Summon The Unstoppable Exodia Incarnate! He returned his Rabbit to his Extra Deck with its effect and then Set Super Polymerization. In his End Phase, he used his Exodia Incarnate’s effect to Set Exxod Fires of Rage from his Deck to his field.

He activated it and used its effect to put a Snake-Eye Ash from his Deck into his Spell & Trap Card Zone. Next, Stinson activated Fiendsmith’s Tract. He added Lurrie to his hand and discarded it, then used its effect to Special Summon Lurrie to the field. On its Summon, Darpinian activated Exxod Fires of Rage to destroy all cards on Stinson’s field! Stinson used his Poplar’s effect to put the Poplar into his Spell & Trap Card Zone and then ended his turn. In the End Phase, Darpinian used his Exodia Incarnate’s effect to Set Obliterate!!! Blaze from his Deck to his field.

Darpinian drew The Winged Dragon of Ra – Sphere Mode and then lost 1000 Life Points in the Standby Phase due to the effect of his Exodia Incarnate. He activated Sengenjin’s effect to put it into his back row. He paid 2000 Life Points to try to Special Summon it to his field, but Stinson negated the effect with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Darpinian entered his Battle Phase and then activated Obliterate!!! Blaze! He destroyed all cards in the Spell & Trap Card Zone, and then equipped The Unstoppable Exodia Incarnate with all 5 pieces of Exodia! Each Equip Spell Card increased The Unstoppable Exodia Incarnate’s Attack Points by 2000, raising its Attack Points to 10,000 ATK total! A direct attack from The Unstoppable Exodia Incarnate wiped out all 8000 of Stinson’s Life Points!
