Round 9 Feature Match: Sean Kilian vs. Kyle Jones
17-year-old Sean Kilian from Long Island, New York just played in his first YCS ever in Raleigh, North Carolina back in May, and went undefeated in the Swiss Rounds to take home an oversized Anotherverse Gluttonia. Now he’s here competing in his first-ever WCQ, and hoping to make the Top Cut once again. He’s Dueling against Kyle Jones from Youngstown, Ohio in this Round 9 Feature Match. Kilian and Jones are both currently 6-2 in the tournament, so while they’re still both in contention for a Day 2 finish, a loss in this Swiss Round will knock one of them out of the North America WCQ. Both Duelists are staking their success on Fiendsmith Snake-Eye Decks, but only one of them can triumph in this Match. It’s time to Duel!
Duel One
Jones started off the Match by Normal Summoning Snake-Eye Ash and used its effect to add Snake-Eyes Poplar to his hand.

He activated its effect, and Kilian Chained the effect of Droll & Lock Bird. Jones activated Divine Temple of the Snake-Eye and used its effect to put Snake-Eyes Diabellstar into his back row. He used the effect of Ash to send it to the Graveyard along with Diabellstar and Summon Oak. He used Oak’s effect to Special Summon Ash and then Link Summoned Moon of the Closed Heaven. Kilian activated the effect of Nibiru, the Primal Being! All monsters were sent to the Graveyard, and Kilian Special Summoned the Nibiru while leaving Jones with a Primal Being Token in Attack Position. Next, Jones sent Fabled Lurrie from his hand to his Graveyard to Special Summon Diabellstar the Black Witch. He used its effect to Set Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye from his deck and then activated it by sending his Divine Temple to the Graveyard. He lost out to Kilian’s Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and then ended his turn.
Kilian drew Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye and added it to his hand of Diabellstar the Black Witch and Snake-Eye Oak. He Normal Summoned the Oak and then used his 2 monsters to Link Summon Hiita the Fire Charmber, Ablaze. He activated its effect, but lost out to Jones’s Effect Veiler. Next, Kilian activated Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye and sent Hiita to the Graveyard to Special Summon Ash from his Deck. He used its effect to add Poplar to his hand and then Special Summoned Poplar. He used its on-field effect to add Divine Temple of the Snake-Eye to his hand and activated it to put Snake-Eyes Diabellstar in his back row. He used Ash’s effect to send Ash to the Graveyard along with Diabellstar and Special Summon Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon. Next, he sent Poplar to the Graveyard to Link Summon Anima pointing to the Primal Being Token. He used Poplar’s effect to place Snake-Eyes Diabellstar in his back row. He used Anima’s effect to equip the Token to it. Next, he used Flamberge Dragon’s effect to move Diabellstar the Black Witch into Jones’s back row. Kilian sent Anima and Flamberge Dragon to the Graveyard to Link Summon Moon of the Closed Heaven and used Flamberge’s effect to Special Summon Oak and Ash. He used Oak’s effect to Special Summon Poplar from his Graveyard and then used Moon to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Requiem. He Tributed Requiem to Special Summon Fiendsmith Engraver. Next, he used his Diabellstar’s effect in his back row to Special Summon it and place Ash Blossom from his Graveyard into his back row. Direct attacks from all of Kilian’s monsters wiped out all 8000 of Jones’s Life Points!

Duel Two
Jones started off Duel 2 by Normal Summoning Snake-Eye Ash and using its effect to add Snake-Eyes Poplar from his Deck to his hand. He Special Summoned it and used its effect to add Divine Temple from his Deck to his hand. He activated it and placed Snake-Eyes Diabellstar from his Deck to his back row. He activated the effect of Ash and sent it to the Graveyard along with Diabellstar to Special Summon Oak. He used Oak’s effect to Special Summoned Ash. Next, he sent Ash and Poplar to the Graveyard to Link Summon Moon. He used Poplar’s effect to place Diabellstar back into his back row. He sent Moon to the Graveyard to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Requiem and then Tributed it to Special Summon Engraver. He used Requiem’s effect to equip it to Engraver and then used Oak to send Oak and Requiem to the Graveyard and Summon Flamberge Dragon. He Special Summoned Diabellstar from his back row and put Poplar in his back row. Next, he sent Diabellstar and Engraver to the Graveyard to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Sequence. He used Sequence’s effect to Fusion Summon Fiendsmith’s Lacrima. He used Lacrima’s effect to Special Summon Engraver. Next, he sent Engraver, Lacrima, and Sequence to the Graveyard to Link Summon Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess. He Special Summoned Engraver from his Graveyard next and then Link Summoned I:P Masquerena. After a flurry of uninterrupted plays, he had a field with Worldsea Dragon Zealantis, Apollousa, and Flamberge Dragon in his Monster Zones; Divine Temple in his Field Spell Card Zone; and Poplar, I:P Masquerena, and a face-down card in his Spell & Trap Card Zone.

He tried to end his turn, but in his Main Phase, Kilian used the effect of Nibiru, the Primal Being. Jones tried to negate it with Apollousa, but Kilian then Chained the effect of Effect Veiler to negate Apollousa’s effect. Jones used the effect of his Divine temple to move Snake-Eyes Diabellstar from his back row to his Monster Zone. Jones then used Triple Tactics Talent to take control of Nibiru and sent it to the Graveyard along with Poplar to Link Summon Hiita.
Kilian drew Snake-Eye Ash and added it to his hand of another Snake-Eye Ash, Diabellstar the Black Witch, and Nibiru, the Primal Being. He Special Summoned Diabellstar from his hand by sending a Nibiru to the Graveyard and activated its effect, but lost out to Ghost Mourner & Moonlit Chill. Then he Normal Summoned Ash and Jones used his Temple to Special Summon Masquerena from his back row. He Chained Crossout Designator and banished an Ash from his Deck to negate the effect of Snake-Eye Ash. Kilian sent Ash and his Black Witch to the Graveyard to Link Summon S:P Little Knight, losing 2500 Life Points due to the effect of Ghost Mourner. Kilian tried to enter his Battle Phase, but Jones used his Masquerena’s effect to Link Summon a Little Knight. He used its effect to try to banish Kilian’s Little Knight, but Kilian Chained its effect to banish the Little Knight and the Primal Being Token. Little Knight returned to the field in the End Phase.
Jones Special Summoned Engraver from his Graveyard by returning Sequence back to his Extra Deck and then attacked Little Knight with Engraver to destroy it. Little Knight attacked directly next, dropping Kilian down to 3700 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Jones sent his 2 monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon Moon and used it to Link Summon Requiem. He Tributed Requiem to Special Summon Engraver and then ended his turn.
Kilian drew WANTED: Seeker of Sinful Spoils! He Normal Summoned Ash and used its effect to add Poplar to his hand. Jones Chained Droll & Lock Bird to Poplar’s effect and Killian Chained WANTED: Seeker of Sinful Spoils to add a Diabellstar to his hand. He Special Summoned the Poplar and then sent Poplar to the Graveyard to Link Summon Relinquished Anima. He used Poplar’s effect to put it in his back row and then used Ash’s effect to send Ash and Poplar to the Graveyard and Special Summon Oak. He Special Summoned a monster with Oak’s effect and then Jones used the effect of the last card in his hand, Nibiru, the Primal Being, to clear the field and give Kilian a Primal Being Token!
Jones drew WANTED and used it to get a Black Witch. He Special Summoned Engraver from his Graveyard and equipped it with Requiem. He used Engraver’s effect to send Requiem and the Primal Being Token to the Graveyard, and then direct attacks from Engraver and Nibiru wiped out Kilian’s remaining Life Points!

Duel Three
Kilian opened up Duel 3 with WANTED: Seeker of Sinful Spoils, Snake-Eye Oak, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, and 2 copies of Nibiru, the Primal Being.

He activated WANTED in his Draw Phase and added Diabellstar the Black Witch from his Deck to his hand. He sent a Nibiru from his hand to his Graveyard to Special Summon Diabellstar and activated its effect, but lost out to the effect of Ghost Mourner & Moonlit Chill. Next, Kilian Normal Summoned Oak and used its effect to send it to the Graveyard along with the Black Witch and Summon Ash from his Deck. He used Ash’s effect to add Poplar to his hand and used Poplar’s effect to add Divine Temple of the Snake-Eye to his hand. He activated it and used its effect to put Snake-Eyes Diabellstar into his back row. Next, he used Ash’s effect and sent it to the Graveyard along with Diabellstar to Special Summon Flamberge Dragon from his Deck. He sent Poplar to the Graveyard to Link Summon Anima and then used Poplar’s effect to place Snake-Eyes Diabellstar in his back row. He then Special Summoned it by putting Oak into the back row in its place. Next, he Link Summoned Moon and sent it to the Graveyard to Link Summon Requiem. He used its effect to Special Summon Fiendsmith Engraver and sent Engraver and Flamberge Dragon to the Graveyard to Link Summon Sequence. He used Flamberge Dragon’s effect to Special Summon Ash and Poplar and then used Sequence’s effect to Special Summon Lacrima. Lacrima’s effect added Engraver to Kilian’s hand and Kilian used it to get Tract. He used Tract to add a Lurrie from his Deck to his hand and discard it. He Special Summoned Lurrie with its effect and then sent Lurrie and Poplar to the Graveyard to Link Summon I:P Masquerena. He Special Summoned Engraver from his Graveyard by returning Lurrie to the Deck and then used Engraver and Lacrima to Xyz Summon Beatrice, Lady of Eternal. He used Beatrice’s effect to send Angel of Blue Tears to the Graveyard. He then sent Beatrice and Sequence to the Graveyard to Link Summon Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames. He used Lacrima’s effect to inflict 1200 points of damage by returning Sequence from his Graveyard back into his Deck, allowing him to banish Angel of Blue Tears from his Graveyard and Set Different Dimension Ground from his Deck. Next, he used Princess’s effect to Special Summon Flamberge Dragon from his Graveyard. He then sent Princess and Ash to the Graveyard to Link Summon Hiita the Fire Charmer, Ablaze and then sent Hiita and I:P to the Graveyard to Link Summon Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess. He used Flamberge Dragon’s effect to put a Masquerena into his back row and then ended his turn.
Jones Normal Summoned Ash. Kilian negated it with the effect of Apollousa and then used Flamberge Dragon’s effect to Special Summon Masquerena. Jones used Triple Tactics Talent to take control of a monster and Kilian used the effect of Masquerena to Link Summon S:P Little Knight. Kilian used the effects of Flamberge Dragon and Little Knight, attempting to banish the Little Knight, and Jones Chained Little Knight’s effect to banish Little Knight and the Apollousa. Kilian added Ash and Original Sinful Spoils to his hand with the effects of Ash and Poplar respectively. Next, he flipped Different Dimension Ground. Jones used his Ash to attack and destroy Kilian’s, then ended his turn. Apollousa and Little Knight returned to Kilian in the End Phase.
Kilian drew Effect Veiler and then Jones used the effect of the Mulcharmy Purulia. Jones sent Poplar and Apollousa to the Graveyard to Link Summon Knightmare Phoenix. He used Poplar’s effect to put Diabellstar in the back row, then used Diabellstar’s effect to Special Summon it, placing Flamberge Dragon in his back row instead. Direct attacks from Knightmare Phoenix, Snake-Eyes Diabellstar, Snake-Eye Ash, and S:P Little Knight wiped out all of Jones’s Life Points!
