He’s facing Carlos Terrazas Hernandez, from Mexicali, Baja California, using Fiendsmith Yubel. Duel 1
Rodriguez started the Playoff Match with Snake-Eye Ash, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, Effect Veiler, Divine Temple of the Snake-Eye, and Fiendsmith’s Tract. He Normal Summoned Snake-Eye Ash to get Snake-Eyes Poplar to his hand. He Special Summoned it and put Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye in his hand. He activated Divine Temple, placing Snake-Eyes Diabellstar in his back row. He activated Ash’s effect, sending itself and Snake-Eyes Diabellstar to the Graveyard to Special Summon Snake-Eye Oak. Oak brought Ash back to the field. Rodriguez used Poplar and Ash to Link Summon Moon of the Closed Heaven, and Poplar put Snake-Eyes Diabellstar in the back row. He used Moon to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Requiem, and that to Special Summon Fiendsmith Engraver. Then he equipped Requiem to Engraver, and used Oak to send itself and Requiem to the Graveyard to Special Summon Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon.
Rodriguez continued by Special Summoning Snake-Eyes Diabellstar, putting Oak in his back row. He used Engraver and Snake-Eyes Diabellstar to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Sequence. He used that to fuse Moon and Requiem into Fiendsmith’s Lacrima, which returned Engraver to the field. He used Flamberge, Engraver, and Sequence to Link Summon Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess, and Flamberge brought Ash and Poplar back to the field. He played Tract, adding Fabled Lurrie to his hand and discarding it, then Special Summoned Lurrie. Rodriguez used Lurrie and Lacrima to Link Summon I:P Masquerena, then had Lacrima return Sequence to deal 1200 damage.
He wasn’t finished yet: Rodriguez used I:P Masquerena and Ash to Link Summon Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames, which revived Flamberge. Suddenly, Terrazas activated Nibiru, the Primal Being! Rodriguez responded with Apollousa, but Terrazas had Effect Veiler! Rodriguez lost all his monsters, and received a 6400/700 Primal Being Token in Defense Position. Nibiru hitting the field triggered Divine Temple, and Rodriguez Special Summoned Oak. He revived Engraver, returning Lacrima to the Extra Deck. He used Ash to Link Summon Relinquished Anima, then used Anima and Engraver to Link Summon S:P Little Knight, banishing Nibiru.
Terrazas started his turn with Nightmare Throne, and Rodriguez Chained Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Terrazas then contact fused Yubel and Gruesome Grave Squirmer from his hand into Phantom of Yubel. He Set one card in his back row.
Rodriguez drew Metaltronus. He returned Lurrie to the Deck to Special Summon Engraver from the Graveyard. He played Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye next, sending S:P Little Knight to the Graveyard to Special Summon Snake-Eye Ash. Ash put Poplar in his hand and he Special Summoned it. He used Poplar and Engraver to Link Summon Knightmare Phoenix, discarding Metaltronis to target Terrazas’s face-down card. Terrazas conceded here – he either needed that face-down card, or didn’t want to reveal it. Either way, we’re moving to the Side Decks!
Duel 2
Terrazas started with Opening of the Spirit Gates, adding Dark Beckoning Beast to his hand. He Normal Summoned it and got Chaos Summoning Beast . He used his bonus Normal Summon for Samsara D Lotus and Special Summoned Spirit of Yubel. Spirit put Nightmare Pain on the field, and Terrazas activated it, destroying Spirit to get Gruesome Grave Squirmer. Spirit Special Summoned Yubel.
Terrazas used both his monsters to Link Summon Unchained Soul Lord of Yama, getting Unchained Soul of Sharvara. Rodriguez activated Nibiru here, giving Terrazas a 0 DEF Primal Being Token in Defense Position. Terrazas contact fused Yubel and Dark Beckoning Beast into Phantom of Yubel. He Special Summoned Gruesome Grave Squirmer from his hand, discarded Chaos Summoning Beast and revived Spirit of Yubel. He used Gruesome Grave Squirmer and Spirit to Link Summon Moon of the Closed Heaven, then that for Fiendsmith’s Requiem. Requiem brought Engraver to the field, and Terrazas used that with the Primal Being Token to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Sequence.
Sequence fused Moon and Requiem into Aerial Eater, which sent Archfiend Heiress to the Graveyard. Heiress got Terrazas Nightmare Archfiends. He then banished Gruesome Grave Squirmer from the Graveyard to revive Spirit of Yubel. Terrazas Special Summoned Sharvara, destroying Spirit of Yubel in the process. Spirit Special Summoned Yubel, and Yama revived Spirit. He used Sequence and Sharvara to Link Summon Unchained Soul of Rage, then stacked Yubel and Spirit for Varudras, the Final Bringer of the End Times. Terrazas revived Engraver, using it with Aerial Eater for Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal. He Set a card in his back row. In the End Phase, he used Beatrice to send Transaction Rollback to the Graveyard.
Rodriguez had Bonfire, WANTED: Seeker of Sinful Spoils, Poplar, and Engraver. He drew Ash Blossom. In the Draw Phase, Terrazas activated Beatrice. Rodriguez tried using Ash Blossom, but Terrazas changed Ash Blossom’s effect with Phantom of Yubel to destroy a Spirit of Yubel from his Deck instead. Beatrice resolved, sending Earthbound Release to the Graveyard. Terrazas flipped Nightmare Archfiends, handing over three Nightmare Archfiend Tokens. He then used Transaction Rollback’s effect in the Graveyard to copy Earthbound Release, destroying all monsters and wiping out Rodriguez’s Life Points!
Duel 3
Rodriguez would open the final Duel, with a hand of Crossout Designator, Skill Drain, Bonfire, Poplar, and Infinite Impermanence. He Normal Summoned Poplar, adding Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye to his hand. He Link Summoned Relinquished Anima, and Poplar went to the back row. He played Original, sending away Poplar to Special Summon Snake-Eye Ash. Ash got him a new Poplar, and he Special Summoned it. Rodriguez used Ash’s effect with Anima to Special Summon Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon, then Link Summoned Moon of the Closed Heaven. Flamberge revived Ash and Poplar. Terrazas activated Nibiru, and Rodriguez used Crossout to negate it.
He used Moon to Link Summon Requiem, then that to get Engraver on the field. He used Engraver and Poplar to Link Summon Sequence, and fused Moon and Requiem into Fiendsmith’s Lacrima. Lacrima targeted Engraver, and Terrazas banished it in response to Special Summon Bystial Baldrake! Rodriguez used Ash and Sequence to Link Summon Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames, reviving Flamberge. Flamberge put Baldrake in the back row. Then he used Princess and Lacrima to Link Summon Hiita the Fire Charmer, Ablaze. Lacrima returned Sequence to deal 1200 damage. Rodriguez Set Skill Drain and Impermanence to finish.
Terrazas moved to the Battle Phase, bluffing Evenly Matched, but Rodriguez didn’t do anything. Terrazas Set two back row cards. In the End Phase, Rodriguez stole Baldrake with Flamberge’s effect
Rodriguez drew Effect Veiler. He used Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye’s effect in the Graveyard, getting Snake-Eye Oak in hand. He Normal Summoned Oak to revive Ash. Ash’s effect found Poplar, and he Special Summoned it. Poplar added Divine Temple to his hand, and he activated it to put Snake-Eyes Diabellstar in the back row. He moved to the Battle Phase and attacked with his full field, ending the Match!
