Dominic Nelson Townsend

Duel 1

Rivera started by playing Sangen Summoning. He activated its effect, but Townsend responded with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! Rivera continued with Pot of Prosperity, choosing to take an Ash Blossom of his own from the excavated cards. He then Normal Summoned Tenpai Dragon Paidra, adding Sangen Kaimen to his hand, and activated Kaimen to get Tenpai Dragon Genroku. He used Genroku’s effect to Special Summon it, then Tributed it to Special Summon Tenpai Dragon Fadra from his Deck. He activated Fadra’s ability, Special Summoned Genroku out of the Graveyard, and ended his turn.

The remaining cards in Townsend’s hand were Genroku, Sangen Kaimen, Ash Blossom, and Veiler. He drew Infinite Impermanence for turn, and started by Normal Summoning his own Genroku, then activated its effect. Rivera responded by attempting to activate his Genroku’s effect, but Townsend responded with Ash Blossom! Townsend Special Summoned Tenpai Dragon Paidra from his Deck, and used its effect to Set Sangen Summoning from his Deck. He flipped the Summoning, then used it to add Tenpai Dragon Chundra to his hand and discard Effect Veiler. Townsend activated Chundra’s effect, Special Summoning it, and entered the Battle Phase.

Townsend used Chundra to attack Rivera’s Fadra, and activated Chundra’s effect to Special Summon his own Fadra from the Deck. He activated Chundra’s other effect to Synchro Summon, using Chundra and Fadra to Synchro Summon Sangenpai Bident Dragion. He activated Bident’s effect to Special Summon Fadra from the Graveyard, then activated Fadra’s effect to Special Summon Chundra. He activated Fadra’s effect to Synchro Summon, using Fadra and Bident to make Sangenpai Transcendent Dragion. He attacked Fadra with Transcendent and Paidra, then activated Paidra’s effect, using Paidra and Chundra to Synchro Summon Black Rose Dragon, destroying all cards on the field! He activated the effects of Bident and Transcendent in the Graveyard, Special Summoning them both back to the field and attacking Rivera directly. Townsend then activated Sangen Kaimen, Special Summoning Paidra and attacking directly, leaving Rivera with only 700 Life Points!

In Main Phase 2, Townsend used Paidra and Bident to Synchro Summon Ruddy Rose Dragon, banishing all cards in both players Graveyards, then Set a card to his backrow and ended his turn.

Rivera started his turn by activating Lightning Storm, attempting to destroy all the cards in Townsend’s Spell/Trap Zone. But Townsend responded with Ruddy Rose Dragon’s effect, Tributing it to negate Lightning Storm! Rivera then activated Dark Hole, destroying all monsters on the field. Finally, he activated Pot of Prosperity, but Townsend responded with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, so Rivera Set a card to his backrow and ended his turn.

Duel 2

Townsend’s opening hand consisted of Infinite Impermanence, D.D. Crow, Forbidden Droplet, Bystiaal Magnamhut, and Tenpai Dragon Chundra. He Set a card to his backrow and ended his turn.

Rivera started by activating Lightning Storm, destroying Townsend’s backrow. He then proceeded to the End Phase. During the End Phase, Townsend activated D.D. Crow, discarding it to banish Rivera’s Lightning Storm. Townsend then activated the effect of the Magnamhut in his hand, targeting the D.D. Crow in his Graveyard, and Rivera responded by activating Mulcharmy Purulia! Magnamhut was Special Summoned and Rivera drew a card, but when Townsend attempted to activate Magnamhut’s effect, Rivera responded with Infinite Impermanence.

(Note: It was found after the Duel that Townsend should not have been able to activate Bystial Magnamhut’s effect here, as Rivera did not control a monster. Neither Duelist noticed, making this an accepted game state.)

Townsend drew Ghost Mourner & Moonlit Chill for turn. He Normal Summoned Tenpai Dragon Chundra, and Rivera responded by activating Ghost Sister & Spooky Dogwood. Townsend proceeded to the Battle Phase. He attacked Rivera directly with Magnamhut and Chundra, and activated Chundra’s effect to Special Summon Tenpai Dragon Paidra from his Deck. He activated Paidra’s effect to Set Sangen Summoning from his Deck, then attacked directly with Paidra.

Townsend activated Chundra’s effect to Synchro Summon, using Chundra and Paidra to Synchro Summon Sangenpai Bident Dragion, then activated Bident’s effect to Special Summon back Paidra. He attacked directly with Bident and Paidra, then activated Paidra’s effect to Synchro Summon Trident Dragion! He activated Trident’s effect, destroying the Sangen Summoning and Bystial Magnamhut, granting it two additional attacks! He activated the effect of the destroyed Sangen Summoning, doubling Trident Dragion’s Attack Points. With a 6000 Attack Point Trident Dragion that can attack three times, despite his opponent resolving Ghost Sister & Spooky Dogwood, Townsend was able to make a direct attack and win the Duel!

Townsend uses his Trident Dragion with 6000 Attack Points to attack multiple times and win the Duel!

Townsend will be moving on here this afternoon at YCS Sacramento with a perfect 3-0 record!
