Round 5 Feature Match: Justin Singh vs. Matthew Lin
We are already halfway through Day 1 here at YCS Niagara Falls! Both of our featured Duelists here are undefeated at the moment and looking to keep that record going.
Justin Singh is from Cincinnati, Ohio, and Matthew Lin is from Toronto, Ontario. Singh is one of our Bounty Duelists this weekend and has accumulated quite a few packs so far in this event!
Lin won the dice roll and opted to start the Duel.
During the Draw Phase, Singh activated Mulcharmy Fuwalos. Lin Normal Summoned Fire King Courtier Ulcanix, activated its effect and destroyed Snake-Eye Oak in his hand and added Legendary Fire King Ponix. He then activated Ponix’s effect and Special Summoned it and added then activated Fire King Sanctuary to fetch Fire King Island. Lin activated Island’s effect and destroyed Ponix to add and trigger Sacred Fire King Garunix. He Special Summoned and activated Garunix’s effect and destroyed Fire King Avatar Arvata in his Deck.
Lim then activated Arvata’s effect and Special Summoned back his Ponix. He Link Summoned Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames with all three and Singh drew Gimmick Puppet Rouge Doll. Lim activated his Promethean Princess’ effect and Special Summoned back his Arvata. He ended his turn.
Singh had Foolish Burial, Gimmick Puppet Little Soldiers, Terraforming, and 2 copies of Gimmick Puppet Rouge Doll in his hand, he drew Crystal Beast Cobalt Eagle for his turn.
He activated Foolish Burial and sent Gimmick Puppet Terror Baby to the Graveyard. He activated Terror Baby’s effect but Lim negated it with Arvata. Singh followed up with Terraforming for Mansion of the Dreadful Dolls. Lim activated Droll & Lock Bird!
Singh activated Mansion of the Dreadful Dolls and then activated Gimmick Puppet Rouge Doll in his hand, revealing Gimmick Puppet Fantasix Machinix, the effect was stopped by Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! Singh Set Gimmick Puppet Little Soldier and passed his turn.
Lim drew for his turn and activated Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye by sending Fire King Sanctuary to the Graveyard. He Special Summoned Snake-Eye Ash and used its effect to get Snake-Eyes Poplar. Lim Special Summoned Poplar, then used it to Link Summon Relinquished Anima. He activated Poplar’s effect to place it in the Spell & Trap Zone, then activated Ash and sent Poplar to get Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon.
Lim Link Summoned Hiita the Fire Charmer, Ablaze with Anima and Flamberge Dragon, then activated Flamberge’s effect and Special Summoned back Snake-Eye Oak and Legendary Fire King Ponix. He used Oak’s effect to bring back Ash. Lim then Link Summoned Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames with Hiita and Oak. He activated Promethean Princess’ effect and brought back his Flamberge Dragon, then Linked the two of them for Salamangreat Raging Phoenix! He then Link Summoned Worldsea Dragon Zealantis! Knowing what was about to happen, Singh conceded the first Duel!
Singh opted to start the second Duel. He opened Gimmick Puppet Little Soldier, 2 Gimmick Puppet Rouge Doll, Mansion of the Dreadful Dolls, and Gimmick Puppet Cattle Scream.
In the Draw Phase, Lim activated Mulcharmy Purulia. Singh activated Rouge Doll and revealed Gimmick Puppet Fantasix Machinix, Lim chained Mulcharmy Fuwalos! Singh Special Summoned Rouge Doll from his hand and Dreary Doll from his Deck. He then Normal Summoned Little Soldiers and activated its effect, sending Bisque Doll to change Little Soldiers Level. Singh activated Bisque Doll by banishing it from the Graveyard. Then, he Xyz Summoned Gimmick Puppet Fantasix Machinix and activated its effect, but was stopped by Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring.
Singh activated Mansion of the Dreadful Dolls and searched for Terror Baby. Then, Lim activated Droll & Lock Bird! Singh then activated Cattle Scream, he detached the Rouge Doll from his Xyz and Summoned Cattle Scream, then added back Rouge Doll with his effect. Singh Xyz Summoned Number 15: Gimmick Puppet Giant Grinder with Cattle Scream and Little Soldiers and ended his turn.
Lim drew for turn. He activated Bonfire and searched for Snake-Eye Ash. Lim Normal Summoned and activated Ash to add and activate Snake-Eyes Poplar. Poplar was Special Summoned and Lim activated it to add Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye. He then Link Summoned Relinquished Anima with Poplar. Lim activated Poplar to push itself to the Spell & Trap Zone, then activated Ash sending Poplar for Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon. He linked Anima and Flamberge for Dharc the Dark Charmer, Gloomy. Lim then activated Flamberge Dragon’s effect to Special Summon back his Snake-Eye Ash and Poplar, then he activated Dharc to Special Summon back Singh’s Gimmick Puppet Dreary Doll.
Lim Link Summoned Knightmare Phoenix using Dreary Doll and Dharc and activated its effect to destroy Singh’s Mansion of the Dreadful Dolls. Then, he Link Summoned Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames with Phoenix and Snake-Eye Ash. Lim brought back Flamberge Dragon with Promethean Princess, then used Flamberge’s effect to push Fantasix to the back row. He Link Summoned Salamangreat Raging Phoenix with Princess and Poplar, then Worldsea Dragon Zealantis with Raging Phoenix.
Thanks to Zealantis, Lim was able to activate Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames, which destroyed his Flamberge Dragon and Singh’s face-down Giant Grinder. Since Flamberge was destroyed, Lim activated and Special Summoned Raging Phoenix and it was over!
Matthew Lin takes a quick 2-0 victory over Justin Singh and remains undefeated with his Fire King Snake-Eye Deck! As an added bonus, he gets to claim Singh’s bounty of 12 Turbo Packs!
