Top 32 Feature Match: Pakawat Pamornsut vs. Anthony Confletti
Only 32 Duelists remain here at YCS Niagara Falls, and we are now in the single-elimination rounds! Seated at Table 1 we have the Duelists that finished 1st and 32nd in the Swiss Rounds: Pakawat Pamornsut from New Brunswick, New Jersey finished in 1st Place and is facing off against Anthony Confletti from Leesburg, Virginia.
Pamornsut is already walking away with an oversized copy of Anotherverse Solaria for going undefeated in Swiss, and now he’s trying to keep his record pristine in the Top Cut. He’s had a fantastic weekend so far, but his opponent wasn’t going to make it easy for him: Confletti’s one of several Yubel Duelists who just made into the Top Cut with some tight Dueling in the first two rounds of competition today.
Both Duelists started shuffling up and were ready to go. They exchanged a good luck handshake to start the match
Pamornsut won the dice roll and opted to start the match. He started with Ghost Mourner & Moonlit Chill, Nibiru, the Primal Being, Infinite Impermanence, Centur-Ion Primera, and Centur-Ion Trudea.
Pamornsut started off by Normal Summoning Centur-Ion Primera. Confletti activated Effect Veiler, Pamornsut Set a card, and then ended his turn.
Confletti drew for his turn and started off with Nightmare Throne! He searched and Normal Summoned Dark Beckoning Beast and activated its effect, but was stopped by Infinite Impermanence. Confletti followed it up with Fiendsmith’s Tract, adding and discarding Fabled Lurrie. He activated and Special Summoned Lurrie and immediately Link Summoned Fiendsmith’s Requiem.
Confletti activated Fiendsmith’s Requiem and Special Summoned Lacrima the Crimson Tears, he activated Lacrima’s effect and sent Fiendsmith Engraver. Then he activated Requiem to equip Requiem to Lacrima. Confletti then activated Engraver and put Lurrie back into his Deck and Special Summoned the Engraver.
Confletti activated Engraver’s effect and sent Requiem and Primera to the Graveyard. Afterward, Pamornsut activated Nibiru, the Primal Being! He Summoned a 3000/3600 Primal Being Token in Defense Position and summoned his Nibiru in defense as well. Confletti activated One for One and sent Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring for Samsara D Lotus. On the summon, Pamornsut activated Ghost Mourner & Moonlit Chill to negate Samsara D Lotus. Confletti Set a card and passed his turn.
Pamornsut drew Emblema Oath for his turn. He Normal Summoned Centur-Ion Trudea and tried to use its effect but was stopped by Impermanence. Pamornsut continued with his Emblema Oath and placed Centur-Ion Primera as a Trap Card. He activated Primera and Special Summoned it. He then activated its effect as a monster and added Centur-Ion Bonds to his hand.
Pamornsut Synchro Summoned Centur-Ion Primera Primus using Primera and Trudea. He activated Primera Primus’ effect and added another copy of Emblema Oath. Pamornsut activated Centur-Ion Bonds and placed Centur-Ion Trudea as a Trap Card. He activated Trudea and Special Summoned it to the field. Pamornsut Synchro Summoned Centur-Ion Auxila using Trudea and Primera. Pamornsut activated Auxila’s effect and chained Bonds to place Centur-Ion Primera in his back row. Auxila got him Wake Up Centur-Ion.
Pamornsut activated Wake Up Centur-Ion, Special Summoning a Level 4 Centur-Ion Token. He then banished Wake Up to send Centur-Ion Phalanx from his Deck to the GY. Pamornsut used Phalanx’s effect to Special Summon back his Centur-Ion Primera Primus, then he Synchro Summoned Centur-Ion Legatia using Primus and his Token. Pamornsut activated Legatia’s effect to draw another Nibiru, the Primal Being, and destroyed the Primal Being Token.
Pamornsut sent Nibiru into the Samsara D Lotus, then attacked directly with Centur-Ion Auxila. When Pamornsut attacked with Centur-Ion Legatia, Confletti activated Lacrima the Crimson Tears to bring back Requiem. It was attacked and Pamornsut wiped out Confletti’s Life Points!
Confletti started the second Duel. In the Draw Phase, Pamornsut activated 2 copies of Mulcharmy Purulia. Seeing this, Confletti just passed without making any plays!
Pamornsut’s hand was Ghost Mourner & Moonlit Chill, Stand Up Centur-Ion, and Centur-Ion Gargoyle II. He drew Wake Up Centur-Ion for his turn.
Pamornsut started his turn with Stand Up Centur-Ion and sent Centur-Ion Gargoyle II to the Graveyard to place Centur-Ion Primera in his back row. He activated Primera’s effect to Special Summon itself, then chained Wake Up Centur-Ion’s effect to Special Summon a Level 4 Token. Pamornsut activated Primera’s effect and Confletti chained Infinite Impermanence. Pamornsut then banished Wake Up to try and send a card from his Deck to the GY but was stopped by Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring.
Pamornsut Synchro Summoned Centur-Ion Primera Primus using his Primera and Token, he activated Primus and added Emblema Oath. Pamornsut then activated Emblema and placed Centur-Ion Atrii as a Trap Card. He then activated and Special Summoned Atrii and drew a Centur-Ion Primera.
Pamornsut then used Primus and Atrii to Synchro Summon Centur-Ion Auxila, he activated Auxila and added Centur-Ion Bonds. He activated Centur-Ion Bonds and placed Centur-Ion Gargoyle II into his back row. Then, he activated Gargoyle and Special Summoned it as Level 8. Pamornsut Normal Summoned Primera and then Synchro Summoned Centur-Ion Legatia. He activated Legatia and chained Gargoyle. Pamornsut drew Effect Veiler with Legatia’s effect, he then banished Centur-Ion Bonds from his Graveyard and placed a monster in his back row. Pamornsut activated Gargoyle to Special Summon it and attacked directly with everything!
Pamornsut takes a swift 2-0 victory and sent his opponent “Pak”ing!
