Things are heating up as we approach the end of our first day in the Remote Duel YCS! Cesar Gonzalez Rodriguez, from Puerto Rico, is here playing a pure Kashtira strategy. He’s facing Mahmut Sungurlu, from Turkey, using Labrynth!

Duel 1

Sungurlu won the die roll. In the Draw Phase, Rodriguez used Dimension Shifter. Sungurlu responded with Arias the Labrynth Butler and Labrynth Chandraglier, discarding a Trap Trick. Sungurlu Set Welcome Labrynth with Chandraglier, and Trap Trick with Arias. Still in the Draw Phase, Sungurlu Special Summoned Lady Labrynth of the Silver Castle. He then flipped Trap Trick and Chained Lady’s effect to Set Ice Dragon’s Prison. Trap Trick banished a Big Welcome Labrynth to Set another copy of Big Welcome. He activated Big Welcome to Special Summon Lovely Labrynth of the Silver Castle, returning Lady to his hand. He activated Lovely and the Chandraglier in his Graveyard, and Rodriguez responded with Infinite Impermanence to negate Lovely. Finally… Sungurlu finished his Draw Phase! He passed the turn.

Rodriguez started with Pressured Planet Wraitsoth, adding Kashtira Unicorn to his hand. He Special Summoned Unicorn. Sungurlu flipped Welcome Labrynth, and then Chained Lady’s effect to Special Summon it from his hand. Welcome Special Summoned Arianna the Labrynth Servant, and Rodriguez negated it with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Sungurlu revived Arias. In a new Chain, Unicorn let him banish Chaos Angel face-down from Sungurlu’s Extra Deck. Rodriguez continued, activating Unicorn’s effect to put Kashtiratheosis to his hand. He played it to Special Summon Scareclaw Kashtira in Defense Position. He played Kashtira Birth, then Normal Summoned Kashtira Fenrir thanks to Birth. Fenrir put Kashtira Riseheart in his hand. He Special Summoned Riseheart and activated its effect to become Level 7, banishing Kashtira Ogre from his Deck and three cards from the top of Sungurlu’s Deck. He activated Birth to Special Summon Ogre, activating its effect to add Kashtira Preparations to his hand. He moved to the Battle Phase. He attacked with everything, with his monsters strengthened by Wraitsoth. Fenrir’s effect banished Arias, and Sungurlu’s remaining monsters were destroyed by battle. Ogre’s effect let him manipulate the top of Sungurlu’s Deck. In Main Phase 2, Rodriguez used Ogre and Riseheart to Xyz Summon Kashtira Shangri-Ira. He Set his last card, Preparations.

In the Draw Phase, Rodriguez flipped Preparations. In the Standby Phase, he used Shangri-Ira to Special Summon a second Fenrir. He then used Wraitsoth to destroy Sungurlu’s Set Ice Dragon’s Prison. Sungurlu had lost almost all his cards, with no way to battle through the Kashtira army!

Duel 2

The second Duel started much the same, with Rodriguez playing Dimension Shifter and Sungurlu Chaining Arias. Arias Special Summoned Lovely. Sungurlu Set two back row cards.

Rodriguez had Lightning Storm! He chose Spells and Traps, and Sungurlu flipped Trap Trick, then flipped Ice Dragon’s Prison on Dimension Shifter. Trap Trick banished a Big Welcome to Set another Big Welcome. Then, everything was destroyed by Lightning Storm and banished due to the lingering Dimension Shifter effect.

Rodriguez Special Summoned Unicorn and added Kashtiratheosis to his hand. He used that to Special Summon Riseheart. Riseheart banished Fenrir to become Level 7. He activated Birth to Special Summon Fenrir. Fenrir put Ogre in his hand. He Normal Summoned Ogre. He moved to the Battle Phase, and that was enough to end the Match!
