Round 6 Feature Match: Kuan Hao David Huang vs. Jonathan Lopez
Round 6 is about to begin, and we’ve got a Crossover Breakers Feature Match! Jonathan Lopez, from Compton, California, is playing a mix of Melodious and Ryzeal! He’s facing Kuan Huang, from Queens, New York, using Maliss!
Duel 1
Huang won the dice roll and played first, with a hand of Maliss <C> GWC-06, Dominus Impulse, Maliss <P> Chessy Cat, Bystial Magnamhut, and Maliss <C> TB-11. He Normal Summoned Chessy Cat and activated its effect, but Lopez used Infinite Impermanence to negate it. Huang Link Summoned Link Decoder, then activated Magnamhut’s effect. He banished Chessy Cat and Special Summoned Magnamhut, activating both cards’ effects. He Special Summoned Chessy Cat, then Set TB-11. He Link Summoned Maliss <Q> Red Ransom, which added Maliss in Underground to his hand, and Link Decoder returned to the field. He flipped up TB-11, banishing Red Ransom to Special Summon Maliss <P> Dormouse. He Special Summoned Red Ransom with its own effect, which also banished Dotscaper from his Deck. He Special Summoned Dotscaper with its effect. He used Link Decoder, Dotscaper, and Dormouse to Link Summon Maliss <Q> White Binder, which banished TB-11 and Dormouse from his Graveyard. He Special Summoned Dormouse, then used its effect to banish Maliss <P> White Rabbit from his Deck and Special Summon that too. White Rabbit Set Maliss <C> MTP-07 on the field with its effect. He used Dormouse, White Binder, and Red Ransom to Link Summon Firewall Dragon Darkfluid – Neo Tempest Terahertz! He Set GWC-06, then activated Maliss in Underground. He used it to banish Chessy Cat from the Deck. In the End Phase, Darkfluid sent Cyberse Desavewurm to the Graveyard. (Magnamhut should have added a Dragon-type monster to Huang’s hand, but the effect was missed by both players.)
Lopez Special Summoned Ext Ryzeal, sending Mereologic Aggregator to the Graveyard. He activated the effects of Ext and Aggregator, targeting Terahertz with Aggregator’s effect, and Huang Chained Terahertz’s to send Code of Soul to the Graveyard. Ext added Node Ryzeal to Lopez’s hand. He Special Summoned Sword Ryzeal, which added Ice Ryzeal to his hand. He Xyz Summoned Ryzeal Detonator, activating its effect to gain an Xyz Material. Huang activated MTP-07, and Lopez Chained the effect of Detonator targeting White Rabbit. Huang Chained GWC-06. Huang Special Summoned White Binder, White Rabbit was destroyed, Huang added Dormouse to his hand, and Detonator was banished. In a new Chain, White Binder banished Dormouse from Huang’s Graveyard and both of the Ryzeals in Lopez’s Graveyard. He then Special Summoned the banished Dormouse. Lopez Normal Summoned Ice Ryzeal and activated its effect, and Huang used Dominus Impulse to negate and destroy it. Lopez Special Summoned Node Ryzeal, and Huang activated Code of Soul, letting him use all his monsters to Link Summon Maliss <Q> Hearts Crypter! It returned TB-11 to his Deck to banish Node. Lopez didn’t see a way to play through this turn, and knew the Dormouse in Huang’s hand would lead to the end of this Duel. He conceded to save time.
Duel 2
Lopez played first, and Huang immediately activated Mulcharmy Fuwalos. Lopez had Triple Tactics Thrust, and Huang Chained Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring – but Lopez had Called by the Grave! Thrust Set Simul Archfiends to his field, and he Set one more card.
Huang drew MTP-07 and added it to his hand of Gold Sarcophagus, Allure of Darkness, and Dormouse. He used Allure to draw Bystial Druiswurm and Infinite Impermanence, banishing Dormouse. He Special Summoned Dormouse and activated its effect, but Lopez had Infinite Impermanence. Huang Link Summoned Linguriboh, then activated Gold Sarcophagus… in the Infinite Impermanence column! Sarcophagus was negated, and Lopez would survive another turn. Huang sent Linguriboh to attack directly, then Set his Trap Cards, with his Infinite Impermanence in the same column as Simul Archfiends.
Lopez Set a back row card and passed.
Huang drew Magnamhut. He Special Summoned it by banishing Dormouse, and activated both monsters’ effects. He Special Summoned Dormouse, which banished White Rabbit from the Deck to power up his Maliss monsters for the rest of the turn. He Special Summoned the banished White Rabbit, and its effect let him Set GWC-06. He used Dormouse, White Rabbit, and Magnamhut to Link Summon Hearts Crypter. Linguriboh and Hearts Crypter attacked directly. Then he flipped up GWC-06, banishing Hearts Crypter. Huang flipped Simul Archfiends, and Huang used Linguriboh to negate it. Huang Special Summoned White Rabbit with GWC-06, then Special Summoned Hearts Crypter with its own effect, doubling its ATK! That was more than enough to wipe out Lopez’s remaining Life Points!
