Top 16 Feature Match: Matthew David Beck vs. Ulises Remigio Aispuro
We’re almost there! We’ve entered the Top 16 here at YCS Anaheim, but only one player can be named the winner. Maliss and Ryzeal are two brand new themes introduced in Crossover Breakers, and they are everywhere here in the Top 16, including this Feature Match! On one hand, we have Matthew David Beck piloting the Ryzeal strategy, with a Fiendsmith engine splashed in. On the other hand, we have Ulises Remigio Aispuro playing the Maliss strategy. Which of these players will emerge victorious and move on to the Top 8? Let’s find out! It’s time to Duel!
Duel 1
Beck won the die roll and chose to go first! His opening hand contained Bonfire, Ryzeal Cross, Crossout Designator, Fiendsmith’s Tract, and Ext Ryzeal. During the Standby Phase, AIspuro activated the effects of Dimension Shifter and Mulcharmy Purulia from his hand! Beck began by activating Bonfire, adding Ice Ryzeal to his hand. He Normal Summoned Ice and activated its effect. Aispuro Chained Infinite Impermanence, but Beck activated Crossout Designator, negating Impermanence! He resolved Ice’s effect to Special Summon Sword Ryzeal, then used Sword to add another copy of Ice to his hand. He then used Ice and Sword to Xyz Summon Ryzeal Detonator, activated Ryzeal Cross, then ended his turn.

Aispuro started by activating Gold Sarcophagus, banishing Maliss <P> White Rabbit from his Deck. He attempted to activate White Rabbit’s effect to Special Summon it, but on resolution, Beck used Ryzeal Cross to negate it. Aispuro then activated Maliss in Underground, but Beck Chained the effect of Detonator to destroy it. Aispuro Normal Summoned EM:P Meowmine, used it to Link Summon Linguriboh, and then ended his turn.
Beck drew Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit for turn! He began by activating Fiendsmith’s Tract, adding Fabled Lurrie to his hand and discarding it, then Special Summoning Lurrie and using it to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Requiem. He activated Requiem’s effect, Tributing it to Special Summon Lacrima the Crimson Tears and sending Fiendsmith Engraver to the Graveyard. Next, he Special Summoned Ext Ryzeal by sending Ryzeal Duo Drive to the Graveyard and searched for Sword Ryzeal. He used Ice and Ext to Xyz Summon another Duo Drive, attached Duo Drive to it as a material, and used Duo Drive’s effect to add Ryzeal Plugin and Node Ryzeal to his hand.
Next, Beck activated the effect of Engraver in his Graveyard, Special Summoning it by returning Lurrie to the Deck. He equipped it with Requiem from the Graveyard, then Special Summoned Node Ryzeal. He activated Node’s effect, sending Requiem to the Graveyard to Special Summon Ext, used Ext and Node to Xyz Summon Number 60: Dugares the Timeless, and activated Dugares’s effect to double Detonator’s Attack Points! He entered the Battle Phase with a field full of Xyz Monsters to reduce Aispuro’s Life Points to zero and win the first Duel!

Duel 2
Beck’s opening hand contained Artifact Lancea, Effect Veiler, Ice Ryzeal, Fabled Lurrie, and Crossout Designator. During the Draw Phase, Beck activated Artifact Lancea from his hand!

Aispuro started by activating Cynet Mining, discarding Maliss <C> GWC-06 to add EM:P Meowmine to his hand. He Normal Summoned Maliss <P> White Rabbit and activated its effect, Setting Maliss <C> MTP-07 from his Deck. He used White Rabbit to Link Summon Linguriboh, Special Summoned Meowmine, then used the two monsters to Link Summon Splash Mage. He activated Splash Mage’s effect, but Beck Chained Effect Veiler! Aispuro Set 1 card to his back row and ended his turn.
Beck started by Normal Summoning Ice Ryzeal and activating its effect. AIspuro Chained Infinite Impermanence, attempting to negate Ice’s effect, but Beck Chained Crossout Designator! Aispuro realized he would not be able to survive Beck’s upcoming flood of Xyz Monsters, and conceded.

Beck takes the victory, and will be moving on to the Top 8 here at YCS Anaheim!
