Top Tables Update: Round 9

December 7th, 2024

We’re in today’s final Swiss Round of YCS Anaheim! Here’s the breakdown for the Decks that have risen to the top and are Dueling at the top 20 tables in Round 9!

14 Ryzeal Decks, plus 5 Fiendsmith Ryzeal Decks and 1 Melodious Ryzeal Deck are at the top 20 tables, which means that exactly half of the Decks at the top 20 tables in Round 9 are utilizing the new Ryzeal strategy from Crossover Breakers. Maliss Decks are popular as well, with 7 Duelists using a Maliss Deck, and 1 more Duelist using a Bystial Maliss Deck. Maliss Decks are right behind Ryzeal Decks as far as representation goes at the top 20 tables. Each of the other Decks have 2 or fewer Duelists piloting them at the top 20 tables. Fiendsmith Yubel, Azamina Snake-Eye Fire King, and pure Fiendsmith Decks each have 2 Duelists using them at the top 20 tables in Round 9. The remaining Decks – Azamina Snake-Eye Fiendsmith, Spright, Ritual Beast, Memento, Voiceless Voice, and Tenpai Dragon – each have only 1 Duelist at the top 20 tables using them.

The Top Tables updates throughout Day 1 of YCS Anaheim have repeatedly shown that Ryzeal Decks were the most dominant, with Maliss Decks trailing right behind. There’s no doubt that the recent release of Crossover Breakers completely revolutionized competitive Dueling. Decks that were dominant a week ago appear to be struggling to keep up, but the results aren’t in quite yet. Although Ryzeal and Maliss Decks are ahead by the numbers, previously competitive Decks are still present to challenge them. Many Duelists using older strategies selected tech cards to help give them the edge against the new Ryzeal and Maliss Decks. As the tournament concludes tomorrow, we’ll see if those Duelists’ choices will allow them to take home the YCS trophy, or if a new strategy from Crossover Breakers will instead prevail.
