Round 2 Feature Match: David Frandle vs. Gregory Vecchi
We’re heading into Round 2 with two Decks boosted by Supreme Darkness! David Frandle is here from Toledo, Ohio, using a Dogmatika Deck augmented with the new Mitsurugi cards! He’s facing Gregory Vecchi, from Jacksonville, Florida. This is his first YCS, and he’s brought Fiendsmith White Forest!
Duel 1
Frandle won the dice roll, choosing to play first. He had a hand of Infinite Impermanence, Dogmatikalamity, Dogmatikamacabre, Dogmatikamatrix, and Dogmatika Ecclesia, the Virtuous. He began with Dogmatikamatrix, adding White Relic of Dogmatika to his hand. He played Dogmatikalamity, Ritual Summoning White Relic by using Herald of the Arc Light. Herald’s effect put Ame no Murakumo no Mitsurugi in his hand. He used Dogmatikamatrix’s effect, sending another Herald to the Graveyard, which put White Knight of Dogmatika in his hand. He played Dogmatikamacabre to Ritual Summon White Knight, banishing his two Heralds, then sent a third Herald to the Graveyard. Herald put Mitsurugi Ritual in his hand. He played that to Ritual Summon Ame no Murakumo, sending Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Kusanagi and Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Saji to the Graveyard. Saji and Kusanagi put Mitsurugi Prayers and Mitsurugi Ritual in his hand, respectively. He played Mitsurugi Ritual again, Tributing Ame no Murakumo to Ritual Summon Futsu no Mitama no Mitsurugi from his Deck! Ame no Murakumo added Mitsurugi Great Purification to his hand, then returned to the field. He Normal Summoned Ecclesia, and Vecchi had Effect Veiler. Frandle used Ame no Murakumo to make Vecchi also discard Silvy of the White Forest to make his effect resolve. Frandle activated White Knight’s effect, letting him see Vecchi’s Extra Deck and send Fiendsmith’s Requiem to the Graveyard, then send his own Garura, Wings of Resonant Life. Garura let him draw a card, a second Ame no Murakumo. He Set the rest of his hand in his back row.
Vecchi played Infinite Impermanence on Ame no Murakumo. He Normal Summoned Silva, and Frandle flipped Great Purification to negate and destroy it. Vecchi thought a moment, and conceded the Duel!
Duel 2
Vecchi began this time with Fiendsmith’s Tract, finding Fabled Lurrie and discarding it. He Special Summoned Lurrie and Link Summoned Fiendsmith’s Requiem, and used that to Special Summon Lacrima the Crimson Tears. Lacrima sent Fiendsmith Engraver to the Graveyard. He equipped Lacrima with Requiem, then used both cards to play Necroquip Princess. He Special Summoned Engraver by returning Lurrie to his Deck, then Xyz Summoned D/D/D Wave High King Caesar. He Special Summoned Elzette of the White Forest, sending Tales of the White Forest to the Graveyard. Elzette added Silvy to his hand, and Tales was Set on the field. He Special Summoned Silvy, adding Sinful Spoils of the White Forest to his hand. He used Elzette and Silvy to Synchro Summon Rciela, Sinister Soul of the White Forest, sending Sinful Spoils of the White Forest to the Graveyard to add Elzette, Azamina of the White Forest to his hand, and Sinful Spoils of the White Forest was Set. He Special Summoned Elzette Azamina. Frandle activated Nibiru, the Primal Being, Vecchi tried negating it with Caesar, and Frandle had Infinite Impermanence to negate Caesar! Everything was Tributed, and Vecchi got a 4800/3300 Primal Being Token in Defense Position for his trouble. Vecchi played Triple Tactics Thrust to find Dimensional Barrier, and Set two back row cards.
Frandle had a hand of Ultimate Slayer, Dogmatikalamity, and White Knight. He drew Ecclesia for the turn. He started with Dogmatikalamity, and Vecchi flipped Dimensional Barrier to shut down Ritual Summons for the turn. Frandle Normal Summoned Ecclesia to add Dogmatikamatrix to his hand. He activated it to add another Dogmatikalamity and a Dogmatikamacabre to his hand… and conceded! He couldn’t get through the massive Primal Being Token this turn, and had no way to stop Vecchi a second time on the following turn.
Duel 3
Frandle started the final Duel with Ame no Murakumo, Infinite Impermanence, Nibiru, and two copies of Triple Tactics Talent. He laughed as he passed the turn.

David Frandle
Vecchi started with WANTED: Seeker of Sinful Spoils to get Diabellstar the Black Witch. He sent Harpie’s Feather Duster to the Graveyard to Special Summon Diabellstar, which Set Deception of the Sinful Spoils on the field. He flipped it up, Tributing Lacrima from his hand to add The Hallowed Azamina to his hand. He played it, sending Deception to the Graveyard to Special Summon Azamina Mu Rcielago, and used that to add Sinful Spoils of the White Forest to his hand. He used the Graveyard effect of The Hallowed Azamina, returning Mu Rcielago to the Extra Deck to put Hallowed back in his hand. He played it again, sending a WANTED to the Graveyard to Special Summon Azamina Illia Silvia. He used WANTED’s Graveyard effect, returning Deception to the Deck to draw a new card. Next, he discarded Fiendsmith Engraver to find Fiendsmith’s Tract, and used that to find and discard Fabled Lurrie. Lurrie hit the field, and Frandle said, “And you’re gonna attack with Lurrie!” to no avail.
Vecchi Special Summoned Engraver from the Graveyard, returning Lacrima to the Deck. Frandle used Infinite Impermanence on Illia Silvia, then activated Nibiru! Just like the last Duel, Vecchi’s field was cleared, leaving him with a 6200/6300 Primal Being Token in Defense Position. Vecchi had Triple Tactics Thrust just like the last Duel! He added Triple Tactics Talent to his hand and played it to draw two fresh cards. He Normal Summoned Silvy, adding Tales of the White Forest to his hand. He sent Tales to the Graveyard to Special Summon Elzette! He added Elzette Azamina to his hand. He Synchro Summoned Rciela, sending Sinful Spoils of the White Forest to the Graveyard to put Rucia of the White Forest to his hand. Sinful Spoils of the White Forest was Set. He Special Summoned Elzette Azamina, and Synchro Summoned Diabell, Queen of the White Forest!

Gregory Vecchi
Diabell returned Tales to the hand, and Elzette Azamina found Deception. He Special Summoned Rucia, then activated Deception. He Special Summoned Silvy from the Graveyard by returning Rciela to the Extra Deck. He used Rucia’s effect, sending Tales to the Graveyard to draw a card, and then Set Tales with its effect. He activated it to add Astellar of the White Forest to his hand. He used Rucia and Silvy to Link Summon S:P Little Knight, Set one card in his back row, and passed.
Frandle drew Dogmatikalamity. He used Nibiru to Xyz Summon Super Starslayer TY-PHON – Sky Crisis. He tried using its effect, but Vecchi had Infinite Impermanence. Frandle sent TY-PHON to attack Diabell, and Vecchi played Sinful Spoils of the White Forest! He fused Astellar, S:P Little Knight, and the Primal Being Token into Guardian Chimera. Both players forgot about Infinite Impermanence negating TY-PHON, so Vecchi didn’t activate Guardian Chimera’s effect. TY-PHON destroyed Diabell in battle. In Main Phase 2, Frandle Set a copy of Talents.
Vecchi Special Summoned Silvy from the Graveyard, then returned Hallowed from the Graveyard to his hand. He played Hallowed, sending Deception to the Graveyard for Mu Rcielago, which added Elzette Azamina to the hand. He Special Summoned it, then Synchro Summoned Silvera, Wolf Tamer of the White Forest. It flipped TY-PHON face-down. Guardian Chimera destroyed TY-PHON in battle, then Mu Rcielago and Silvera dropped Frandle to 3600 Life Points.
Frandle drew Dogmatikamacabre. With multiple Ritual Spells and no matching monsters, he offered the handshake!
