Round 5 Feature Match: Aldo Lazaro vs. Eion VanTull
Team Delinquent Duo Drives and Team Bludhaven Boys are both currently 4-0 at TEAM YCS Las Vegas. Now, they’re facing off in this Round 5 Feature Match! Christopher LaStarria, Willie Newsome Jr., and Eion VanTull on Team Bludhaven Boys are Dueling against Dawson Boger, George Babamirza, and Aldo Lazaro on Team Delinquent Duo Drives. We’ll be focusing on the Match between Eion VanTull and Aldo Lazaro for this Feature Match. VanTull is using a Yubel Deck, while Lazaro is using a Fiendsmith Ryzeal Deck. It’s time to Duel!
Duel One
Lazaro opened up Duel 1 with Infinite Impermanence, Mulcharmy Fuwalos, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, Droll & Lock Bird, and Fiendsmith’s Tract.
He activated the Tract and added a Fabled Lurrie from his Deck to his hand and discarded it. He Special Summoned it from his Graveyard with its effect, prompting VanTull to activate the effect of Mulcharmy Fuwalos. Lazaro Link Summoned Fiendsmith’s Requiem, and VanTull drew a card off of Fuwalos’s effect. He ended his turn with only the Requiem on his field.
VanTull activated the effect of another Fuwalos in his own Draw Phase and then returned a Samsara D Lotus and Yubel – Terror Incarnate from his hand to his Deck to Special Summon Phantom of Yubel. Next, he activated Opening of the Spirit Gates and used its effect to add Dark Beckoning Beast from his Deck to his hand. He Normal Summoned it and then used its effect to add another Opening of the Spirit Gates from his Deck to his hand. He Normal Summoned the Samsara D Lotus. Lazaro Tributed Requiem to activate its effect, then activated the effect of the Fuwalos in his hand. VanTull Tributed his Phantom of Yubel to change the Fuwalos’s effect and destroy Spirit of Yubel from his Deck. Lazaro Special Summoned Lacrima the Crimson Tears from his Deck with Requiem’s effect, and VanTull drew a card thanks to his Fuwalos’s effect. Lazaro used Lacrima’s effect to send Fiendsmith in Paradise from his Deck to his Graveyard, and VanTull Special Summoned Yubel from his Deck with his destroyed Spirit of Yubel’s effect. Next, VanTull Tributed his Lotus to use its effect, but lost out to Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. VanTull sent Yubel and Dark Beckoning Beast to the Graveyard to Link Summon Unchained Soul Lord of Yama next, and used its effect to add Unchained Soul of Sharvara from his Deck to his hand. Lazaro activated the effect of Droll & Lock Bird, preventing VanTull from adding any more cards from his Deck to his hand during the turn. Next, VanTull discarded Opening of the Spirit Gates to activate the effect of the one on his field and Special Summon Spirit of Yubel from his Graveyard. He used its effect to Set Nightmare Pain from his Deck to his field and then used his Opening’s effect to add an Opening from his Graveyard to his hand. He sent Yama and Spirit of Yubel to the Graveyard to Link Summon Moon of the Closed Heaven and Lazaro banished Fiendsmith in Paradise from his Graveyard. He sent Fiendsmith’s Desirae from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard and used its effect to try to send Moon to the Graveyard; but VanTull Chained Sharvara’s effect to destroy his own Moon and Special Summon Sharvara from his hand. Next, he used Yama’s effect to banish Yama from the Graveyard and Special Summon back the destroyed Moon. He sent Moon to the Graveyard to Link Summon Requiem and then Tributed Requiem to Special Summon Lacrima the Crimson Tears from his Deck. He used Lacrima’s effect to send Fiendsmith Engraver from his Deck to his Graveyard and then equipped Lacrima with Fiendsmith’s Requiem. Next, he returned Moon from his Graveyard to his Extra Deck to Special Summon Fiendsmith Engraver and sent Requiem and Lacrima to the Graveyard to Special Summon Necroquip Princess. He sent Sharvara and Engraver to the Graveyard to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Sequence. He activated the effect of Sharvara, and Lazaro had seen enough! He conceded, and moved on to the second Duel!

Duel Two
Lazaro opened up Duel 2 with Fiendsmith Engraver, Sword Ryzeal, Ext Ryzeal, Fiendsmith in Paradise, and Fabled Lurrie. He Normal Summoned Lurrie, prompting VanTull to activate the effect of Mulcharmy Fuwalos in his hand. Next, Lazaro Link Summoned Fiendsmith’s Requiem, allowing VanTull to draw a card from Fuwalos’s effect. Lazaro Special Summoned Ryzeal Ext from his hand next, by sending Eclipse Twins from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard. Next, he Special Summoned Sword and used its effect to add Ice Ryzeal from his Deck to his hand. He activated the effect of Fiendsmith Engraver to discard it and add Fiendsmith’s Tract from his Deck to his hand. He activated Tract to add another Engraver from his Deck to his hand and discard Fiendsmith in Paradise. He used Ext and Sword to Xyz Summon Ryzeal Detonator, and VanTull drew another card from Fuwalos’s effect. Next, Lazaro used his Detonator’s effect to attach Eclipse Twins to it as an Xyz Material.
VanTull entered his Main Phase and then used Forbidden Droplet!
He sent a Mulcharmy Purulia and Droll & Lock Bird from his hand to his Graveyard to negate the effects of Requiem and Detonator and halve their ATK. Next, he activated Nightmare Throne and used its effect to add Dark Beckoning Beast from his Deck to his hand. He Normal Summoned it and used its effect to add Opening of the Spirit Gates from his Deck to his hand. He activated the Opening and added another Dark Beckoning Beast from his Deck to his hand with its effect. Next, he Normal Summoned it thanks to his first Dark Beckoning Beast’s effect and sent his 2 monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon Unchained Soul Lord of Yama and activate its effect. Lazaro banished Fiendsmith in Paradise from his Graveyard and sent Desirae from his Extra Deck to the Graveyard. Yama added Sharvara from VanTull’s Deck to his hand, and then Desirae’s effect sent Yama to the Graveyard. Next, VanTull discarded Spirit of Yubel to Special Summon it with the effect of Opening of the Spirit Gates, and used Spirit of Yubel’s effect to Set Nightmare Pain from his Deck to his field. He flipped it up and activated its effect. He destroyed Spirit of Yubel and added Gruesome Grave Squirmer from his Deck to his hand. Next, he Special Summoned Yubel with Spirit’s effect. He activated Gruesome Grave Squirmer’s effect to Special Summon it from his hand and destroy Yubel. He used Yubel’s effect to Special Summon Yubel – Terror Incarnate from his Deck and then sent Terror Incarnate and Gruesome Grave Squirmer to the Graveyard to Link Summon Moon of the Closed Heaven. He Special Summoned Phantom of Yubel from his Extra Deck next by returning 2 cards from his Graveyard to his Deck, and then sent Moon to the Graveyard to Link Summon Requiem. He Tributed Requiem to Special Summon Lacrima and used Lacrima’s effect to send Fiendsmith Engraver from his Deck to his Graveyard. Next, he used Requiem’s effect in his Graveyard to equip it to his Lacrima. He sent Requiem and Lacrima to the Graveyard to Special Summon Necroquip Princess and then returned Moon from his Graveyard to his Extra Deck to Special Summon Engraver from his Graveyard. Next, he activated Triple Tactics Talent. Lazaro revealed his hand of Ice Ryzeal and Engraver, and VanTull returned the Ice Ryzeal to Lazaro’s Deck. VanTull sent Engraver and Necroquip Princess to the Graveyard to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Sequence. He used its effect and returned Requiem, Engraver, and Lacrima from his Graveyard to his Deck to Special Summon Fiendsmith’s Desirae. He banished Gruesome Grave Squirmer from his Graveyard to Special Summon Spirit of Yubel and then Special Summoned Sharvara from his hand by destroying Spirit. He used the effects of the Yama in his Graveyard and the Spirit of Yubel. He Special Summoned Yubel with Spirit’s effect and Special Summoned Spirit of Yubel back to the field with Yama’s effect. Next, he sent Sequence and Sharvara to the Graveyard to Link Summon Unchained Soul of Rage. He equipped Desirae with the Sequence in his Graveyard and then entered his Battle Phase! He attacked Detonator with Yubel, and Lazaro lost 1500 Life Points due to Nightmare Pain. Phantom of Yubel and Spirit of Yubel attacked next, with each attack inflicting 1500 more points of damage to Lazaro’s Life Points. Next, Desirae attacked and destroyed Detonator, and then Unchained Soul of Rage attacked and destroyed Requiem. Lazaro dropped down to 700 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, VanTull Xyz Summoned Varudras, the Final Bringer of the End Times before ending his turn.
Lazaro drew a card and then Special Summoned Engraver from his Graveyard by returning Desirae from his Graveyard to his Extra Deck. He activated Requiem’s effect to try to equip it to Engraver, and VanTull negated the effect with Varudras, and then destroyed Engraver by using Varudras’s effect again. Next, Lazaro discarded an Engraver from his hand to add Fiendsmith’s Tract from his Deck to his hand. He activated it to add Lacrima the Crimson Tears to his hand and discard Droll & Lock Bird. He Normal Summoned Lacrima and used its effect to send Fiendsmith Engraver from his Deck to his Graveyard. He was entered his Battle Phase, and Lacrima was forced to attack Phantom of Yubel due to the effect of Nightmare Pain! Lazaro took 1200 Life Points as a result of the battle and was wiped out of the Duel!
