Round 6 Feature Match: Hansel Aguero vs. Javier Barba
Welcome to Round 6 of TEAM YCS Las Vegas! We’re here with team 3 WCQ Champs & John – there’s Patrick Hoban, Hansel Aguero, and also John Wilkin is here. They’re facing Team Starslayer, who are looking to slay these star Duelists in this Match! They are Diego Santos, Joseph Alemania, and Javier Barba. For this Feature Match we’ve got Hansel Aguero from New York City, playing Ryzeal, up against Javier Barba from Fresno, CA, using Bystial Maliss.
Duel 1
Aguero won the dice roll and played first, with a hand of two Sword Ryzeal, Ice Ryzeal, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, and Droll & Lock Bird. Barba activated Mulcharmy Fuwalos, and Aguero negated it with Ash Blossom. He Normal Summoned Ice Ryzeal, and Barba used Dominus Impulse to negate it. Aguero Special Summoned Sword, and Barba had Infinite Impermanence for that. Aguero Xyz Summoned Ryzeal Duo Drive, and Barba had a second Infinite Impermanence!
Barba had just one card left in his hand, and drew a fresh one for the turn. He Set one in his back row.
Aguero drew Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit. He activated Duo Drive, and it finally resolved! He got Ryzeal Cross and Ext Ryzeal in his hand. He activated Cross, then Special Summoned Ext by sending Eclipse Twins to the Graveyard. Ext’s effect put Node Ryzeal in his hand. He Special Summoned his second Sword, which put Ice in his hand. Barba now activated Bystial Magnamhut, Special Summoning it and banishing Eclipse Twins, then activating Magnamhut’s effect to get a Dragon-type monster at the end of the turn. Aguero used Duo Drive and Ext to Xyz Summon a new Eclipse Twins, then Special Summoned Node. He used Eclipse Twins’s effect by detaching Ext. That gave him a Ryzeal in the Graveyard to use Node’s effect – he sent Eclipse Twins to the Graveyard to revive Ext. He stacked Ext and Node for Ryzeal Detonator, which attached Eclipse Twins as a material. Then he used Cross’s effect to recycle some Ryzeal monsters and draw a second Ghost Ogre. Detonator attacked over Magnamhut, and Sword attacked directly. In the End Phase, Magnamhut’s effect put Bystial Druiswurm in Barba’s hand.
Barba Normal Summoned Maliss <P> White Rabbit and activated its effect. Aguero responded with Ghost Ogre to destroy White Rabbit, and then White Rabbit’s effect put Maliss <C> TB-11 on the field. Barba then used Druiswurm’s effect in the hand, targeting his White Rabbit. Aguero Chained Detonator to destroy TB-11 before Druiswurm hit the field. White Rabbit was banished, and Barba paid 300 Life Points to Special Summon it. Aguero negated that with Cross, detaching Ext from his Detonator. Barba flipped Maliss <C> GWC-06 to Special Summon White Rabbit anyway, then used both his monsters to Link Summon Splash Mage. Druiswurm’s effect targeted Detonator, and Aguero Chained it to destroy Splash Mage. Detonator hit the Graveyard, but the detached Eclipse Twins activated to revive it and attach Duo Drive to it. Barba was completely out of cards, and knew this Duel was over!
Duel 2
Aguero had Effect Veiler, Mulcharmy Fuwalos, Artifact Lancea, Mulcharmy Meowls, and Nibiru, the Primal Being. He had everything to stop Barba, but no gas of his own – maybe the Mulcharmies could help. Barba Set a card in his back row, then Normal Summoned Maliss <P> Dormouse. Aguero responded to its effect with Effect Veiler, and Barba flipped TB-11. Aguero Chained to that with Mulcharmy Fuwalos. Barba Special Summoned Maliss <P> Chessy Cat, and Aguero drew Sword Ryzeal with Fuwalos. Dormouse resolved, banishing White Rabbit. He activated the banished White Rabbit, and Aguero Chained Meowls! White Rabbit hit the field, and Aguero drew Harpie’s Feather Duster with Meowls. White Rabbit’s effect put GWC-06 on the field. Barba thought a while before continuing into two Mulcharmy effects. He eventually used both monsters to Link Summon Haggard Lizardose, and Aguero drew Ryzeal Cross. Lizardose banished Chessy Cat from the Graveyard, and he Special Summoned it. Aguero drew Ice Ryzeal. Barba Link Summoned Maliss <Q> White Binder, letting Aguero draw Lightning Storm. Barba used White Binder to Set TB-11 on the field again. He then Set another back row and passed the turn.
As the turn ended, Team Starslayer’s Joseph Alemania defeated John Wilkin of team 3 WCQ Champs & John. The stakes for this Match just got more serious.
Aguero drew Node Ryzeal, and Barba flipped GWC-06 to Special Summon White Rabbit. White Rabbit put Maliss <C> MTP-07 on the field. Aguero moved to the Main Phase and started with Lightning Storm to wipe out spells and traps. Barba Chained TB-11 and MTP-07, banishing White Binder to flip his trap the same turn it was Set. MTP-07 put Dormouse in his hand, and TB-11 Special Summoned Chessy Cat. Lightning Storm then destroyed Barba’s Set Metaltronus. In a new Chain, Barba paid 900 Life Points to Special Summon White Binder and draw a card. White Binder then banished the Chessy Cat in his Graveyard, which he also Special Summoned. Aguero continued with Ice Ryzeal to Special Summon Sword Ryzeal, and Sword to add Ext Ryzeal to his hand. He Special Summoned Ext by sending Ryzeal Duo Drive to the Graveyard, and Ext put another Sword in his hand. He activated Cross, then used Sword and Ext to Xyz Summon Duo Drive. It attached the other Duo Drive from his Graveyard as a material, then its effect let him detach two materials to add Ext and Ice to his hand. He Special Summoned Sword, followed by Node. He moved to the Battle Phase, sending Duo Drive to defeat White Binder in battle. Node, Sword, and Ice destroyed all of Barba’s other Maliss monsters. In Main Phase 2, Aguero stacked Ice and Sword for Eclipse Twins. He used Node’s effect to send Eclipse Twins to the Graveyard and revive Sword. Barba Chained Bystial Magnamhut to banish Eclipse Twins, and then Chained Infinite Impermanence to negate Node! Impermanence resolved, and Aguero detached Duo Drive’s last material for Ryzeal Cross to negate Magnamhut. He sent Duo Drive to the Graveyard to Special Summon Ice from his hand, and stacked it with Node for Ryzeal Detonator in Defense Position. It attached Eclipse Twins as a material. He then used Cross’s effect to put back two Ryzeal monsters and draw Effect Veiler.
At the start of Barba’s turn, he used Artifact Lancea to shut down Barba’s banishing effects! Barba Chained Magnamhut’s effect to banish White Binder in response, but Magnamhut was negated once again by Ryzeal Cross. Barba Normal Summoned Dormouse, but couldn’t use its effect due to Lancea. He passed the turn.
Aguero drew another Lightning Storm. He Special Summoned Ext by sending a second Eclipse Twins to the Graveyard. He activated Ext as Chain Link 1 and Eclipse Twins as Chain Link 2. At Chain Link 3, Barba used Magnamhut to banish Eclipse Twins and Special Summon itself. Eclipse Twins resolved, bringing Duo Drive back to the field with a second Duo Drive attached. Finally, Ext put Sword in Aguero’s hand. Duo Drive attached Ice as a material, and Magnamhut’s effect activated. Aguero Chained Detonator’s effect to destroy Magnamhut. He Special Summoned Sword to find a new Ice. He stacked the Ext and Sword for Starliege Photon Blast Dragon. Then he used Cross to draw another Effect Veiler. He used Duo Drive’s effect, detaching Photon Blast’s materials to find the Node and Ext he’d just returned with Cross. He Normal Summoned Ice, brought another Ext to the field, and Xyz Summoned Castel, the Skyblaster Musketeer. It shuffled Dormouse into the deck. Detonator moved to Attack Position. Aguero attacked with everything to take this Match!
That evened the score between the teams – it all came down to Aguero’s team mate Patrick Hoban vs. Barba’s team mate Diego Santos. The Match was running long, and the timer ran out – that Match ended in a draw! With one Match win for each team, the final result was a draw for each team!
