Round 7 Feature Match: Chancy Wigglestove vs. James Neumann
We’re in Round 7 of TEAM YCS Las Vegas! In this Swiss Round, Team Bobby’s Bench is facing off against Team Last Minute. Anandeth Sinhradsvong, Mustapha Ghanem, and James Neumann say they weren’t good enough to make it onto their friend Bobby’s team, so they formed their own team and called it “Bobby’s Bench”. Zachary Bishop, Angel Ascencio, and Chancy Wigglestove didn’t have a team until about 3 minutes before the registration deadline, so they joined together and formed “Team Last Minute”. Both teams are currently 5-1 in the tournament. This Feature Match will focus on the Match between Chancy Wigglestove running a Ryzeal Deck and James Neumann with his Maliss Deck. It’s time to Duel!
Duel One
Neumann chose to go first and passed his turn with no play.
Wigglestove opened up Duel 1 with Pot of Desires, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, Bonfire, Ext Ryzeal, and Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion.
He drew Nibiru, the Primal Being and then Special Summoned Ext Ryzeal from his hand by sending Eclipse Twins from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard. He added Sword Ryzeal to his hand with the effect of Ext and then Special Summoned Sword. He used Sword’s effect to add Ice Ryzeal from his Deck to his hand. Neumann activated the effect of Mulcharmy Fuwalos, but Wigglestove negated it by activating the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Next, Wigglestove activated Pot of Desires. He banished the top 10 cards of his Deck face-down (including 2 copies of Ryzeal Cross) to draw Mulcharmy Fuwalos and Metaltronus from his Deck. He combined Ext with Sword to Xyz Summon Ryzeal Detonator and used its effect to attach Eclipse Twins from his Graveyard as an Xyz Material. He attacked directly with Detonator and then activated Bonfire to add Ext Ryzeal from his Deck to his hand. He Set Metaltronus before ending his turn.
Neumann activated Metaltronus to Special Summon a Ryzeal Detonator from his Extra Deck, negate the effects of Wigglestove’s Detonator, and banish both Detonators face-down. Next, he Normal Summoned Maliss <P> White Rabbit and activated its effect. Wigglestove Chained his own Metaltronus, but Neumann Chained Dominus Impulse to negate Metaltronus. Neumann Set Maliss <C> GWC-06 from his Deck with White Rabbit’s effect. Wigglestove activated the effect of Mulcharmy Fuwalos, and Neumann pressed on! He sent White Rabbit to the Graveyard to Link Summon Link Decoder, allowing Wigglestove to draw a card, and then Neumann Special Summoned Bystial Baldrake from his hand by banishing White Rabbit from the Graveyard. He activated White Rabbit’s effect to Special Summon it, and Wigglestove Chained the effect of another Fuwalos in his hand. Next, Neumann Link Summoned Maliss <Q> Red Random, allowing Wigglestove to draw 2 more cards. Neumann activated the effects of Red Random and Link Decoder as Chain Links 1 and 2 respectively. He Special Summoned the Link Decoder back to the field and added Maliss in Underground from his Deck to his hand. He activated the Maliss in Underground and used its effect to banish Maliss <P> Dormouse from his Deck. He paid 300 Life Points to Special Summon Dormouse from banishment and then used its on-field effect to banish Maliss <P> Chessy Cat from his Deck and increase his monsters’ ATK. Next, he used Chessy Cat’s effect to Special Summon it from banishment. He sent Red Ransom, Dormouse, and Link Decoder to the Graveyard to Link Summon Maliss <Q> White Binder, allowing Wigglestove to draw 2 more cards, and then used White Binder’s effect to target his own Red Ransom and White Rabbit in the Graveyard, as well as Wigglestove’s Eclipse Twins, and try to banish them. Wigglestove Chained Infinite Impermanence to try to negate White Binder’s effect, and Neumann flipped GWC-06 by banishing White Binder. Wigglestove Chained Ghost Belle’s effect to negate the effect of GWC-06, and White Binder’s effect resolved. Neumann Special Summoned his White Binder and Red Ransom back to the field with their effects, and when Neumann entered his Battle Phase to try to win the Duel, Wigglestove activated the effect of Nibiru, the Primal Being! All monsters on the field were Tributed, and Neumann was left with just a Primal Being Token! Neumann desperately activated Allure of Darkness with no cards in his hand, and banished a White Rabbit from his hand after drawing 2 cards.
Wigglestove Normal Summoned Ice Ryzeal and activated its effect, but Neumann flipped Dominus Impulse to negate the effect and destroy Ice. Next, Wigglestove Special Summoned Ext Ryzeal from his hand by sending an Eclipse Twins from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard. He sent Pot of Prosperity from his hand to his Graveyard to Special Summon Ice Ryzeal next, and Neumann conceded.
A key activation of Nibiru, the Primal Being allows Wigglestove to win the first Duel by stopping Neumann in his tracks!
Duel Two
Neumann started off Duel 2 by Setting 2 cards to his back row and passing his turn.
Wigglestove drew Infinite Impermanence and added it to his hand of Ice Ryzeal, Mulcharmy Meowls, another Infinite Impermanence, and 2 copies of Effect Veiler. As Wigglestove began his turn, the Duelists learned that each team had secured 1 Match victory, so it all came down to this last Match! Wigglestove consulted his teammate about his next play, and ultimately decided to Normal Summon Ice Ryzeal. He activated Ice’s effect and Neumann flipped Metaltronus! He Special Summoned Ryzeal Detonator and negated the Ice Ryzeal’s effect. Wigglestove Set 2 cards to his back row and passed, and Neumann activated Maliss <C> MPT-07 in the End Phase to add Maliss <P> Dormouse from his Deck to his hand.
Neumann Normal Summoned Dormouse and Wigglestove flipped Infinite Impermanence to negate its effect. Next, Neumann sent Dormouse to the Graveyard to Link Summon Linguriboh. He Special Summoned Bystial Druiswurm from his hand by banishing Dormouse from his Graveyard and then Special Summoned Dormouse back to his field with its effect by paying 300 Life Points. Neumann sent Dormouse, Druiswurm, and Detonator to the Graveyard to Link Summon Maliss <Q> Red Ransom and activated its effect, but lost out to Wigglestove’s Effect Veiler. Neumann activated Triple Tactics Thrust next, adding Gold Sarcophagus from his Deck to his hand. He activated Triple Tactics Talent to return a card from Wigglestove’s hand to his Deck, and Wigglestove conceded.
The Match is going to a third and final Duel that will determine the fate of these two teams in Round 7!
Duel Three
Wigglestove opened up Duel 3 with Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion, Infinite Impermanence, Pot of Desires, Ryzeal Cross, and Nibiru, the Primal Being. He activated Pot of Desires by banishing the top 10 cards of his Deck face-down and drew another Infinite Impermanence and an Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. He ended his turn with nothing on his field.
Neumann Set a card to his back row and passed.
Wigglestove drew Ice Ryzeal! He Normal Summoned it and activated its effect. Neumann flipped Metaltronus and Wigglestove Chained Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to negate it! Wigglestove Special Summoned Sword Ryzeal from his Deck with Ice’s effect and used Sword’s effect to add Ext Ryzeal from his Deck to his hand. Next, he Special Summoned Ext from his hand by sending a Detonator from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard and used the effect of Ext to add Node Ryzeal from his Deck to his hand. He activated Ryzeal Cross and when Neumann Chained the effect of the Bystial Magnamhut in his hand, Wigglestove negated it with the effect of Ghost Belle. Wigglestove Xyz Summoned Ryzeal Duo Drive next and used its effect to attach an extra Xyz Material to it from the Graveyard. Then he activated its effect to detach 2 Xyz Materials from it and add 2 more Ryzeal monsters from his Deck to his hand. He Special Summoned Node from his hand and activated its effect by sending a Sword from his hand to his Graveyard. Neumann negated the Node’s effect by activating Dominus Impulse from his hand. Next, Wigglestove used the effect of Cross to return 2 cards from his Graveyard to his Deck and draw Bonfire. He sent Bonfire from his hand to his Graveyard to Special Summon Ice Ryzeal from his hand and then combined Node with Ice to Xyz Summon Number 60: Dugares the Timeless. He detached both Xyz Materials from Dugares to double the ATK of Duo Drive by giving up his next turn’s Battle Phase. Attacks from Duo Drive, Ice, and Dugares wiped out all of Neumann’s Life Points!
Chancy Wigglestove takes a 2-1 victory and secures the win for his team. Team Last Minute advances with a 6-1 record!
