Adam Gilbert from Rapid City, South Dakota and Johnathan Gochenour from Stanley, Virginia are both 7-2 in the Genesys Championship this weekend. Now, they’re Dueling against one another in this Round 10 Feature Match! Gilbert is using a HERO Deck, while Gochenour is using an Invoked Deck boosted by new Aleister support from Chaos Origins. Only one of these Duelists can advance with an 8-2 record and increase their chances for a Top 8 finish. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Gochenour won the die roll and chose to go second.

Gilbert opened up Duel 1 with Elemental HERO Neos, Neo-Spacian Grand Mole, Elemental HERO Stratos, Miracle Ejector, and Elemental HERO Spirit Neos.

He activated the effect of Miracle Ejector in his hand by sending Neo-Spacian Dark Panther from his Deck to his Graveyard and Special Summoned the Ejector. He used its effect to add EN – Engage Neo Space from his Deck to his hand and then activated it. He sent Grand Mole from his hand and Elemental HERO Shadow Mist from his Deck to his Graveyard to Special Summon Elemental HERO Spirit Neos from his Deck and add Polymerization from his Deck to his hand. In a new Chain, he activated the effects of Spirit Neos and Shadow Mist. He added EN Wave to his hand with Spirit Neos’s effect and added Masked HERO Dusk Crow from his Deck to his hand with Shadow Mist’s effect. Next, he activated EN Wave. He activated Polymerization next, fusing Miracle Ejector with Neos to Summon Elemental HERO Flame Wingman – Infernal Rage. He activated the effects of Infernal Rage and EN Wave, prompting Gochenour to Chain the effect of Effect Veiler to negate the Infernal Rage’s effect. EN Wave’s effect resolved to Special Summon Neo-Spacian Aqua Dolphin from the Deck in Attack Position. He activated its effect by discarding Spirit Neos and looked at Gochenour’s hand. He had Aleister the Reminiscent, D.D. Crow, and 2 copies of Invocation in his hand. Aqua Dolphin sent the Aleister to the Graveyard and inflicted 500 points of damage to Gochenour’s Life Points. Next, Gilbert Normal Summoned Elemental HERO Stratos and used its effect to add Elemental HERO Liquid Soldier from his Deck to his hand. He Special Summoned Dusk Crow from his hand by banishing Shadow Mist from his Graveyard. He added Masked HERO Furnace from his Deck to his hand with Dusk Crow’s effect. He activated Furnace’s effect in his hand. He added Polymerization from his Deck to his hand and then discarded Furnace. He activated the Polymerization to fuse the Stratos on his field with the Liquid Solider in his hand and Summon Elemental HERO Sunrise. He activated the effects of Sunrise and Liquid Soldier. He added Miracle Fusion from his Deck to his hand and then drew Favorite Contact and A HERO Lives from his Deck before discarding A HERO Lives. He Set Favorite Contact and then ended his turn.

Gochenour drew a card and then Gilbert activated Favorite Contact in the Draw Phase! He returned Aqua Dolphin from his field and Grand Mole, Dark Panther, and Neos from his Graveyard back to the Deck and Summoned Elemental HERO Cosmo Neos, preventing Gochenour from activating cards on the field during the turn! Gochenour considered the cards in his hand for a moment and then conceded, realizing there was no way for him to win.

Duel Two

Gochenour Set a card to his back row and ended his turn with no other play!

Gilbert opened up Duel 2 with Masked HERO Dusk Crow, EN Shuffle, A HERO Lives, Elemental HERO Shadow Mist, and Gadara, the Mystery Dust Kaiju. He drew Forbidden Droplet and then activated A HERO Lives by paying 4000 Life Points! He Special Summoned Elemental HERO Stratos from his Deck and used its effect to add Miracle Ejector from his Deck to his hand. He activated Ejector’s effect and Special Summoned it from his hand by sending Neo-Spacian Grand Mole from his Deck to his Graveyard. Next, he used Ejector’s effect to add EN – Engage Neo Space from his Deck to his hand. He activated it by sending Shadow Mist from his hand and Aqua Dolphin from his Deck to the Graveyard. He Special Summoned Spirit of Neos from his Deck and added Polymerization from his Deck to his hand. He activated the effects of Spirit of Neos and Shadow Mist. He added Favorite Contact from his Deck to his hand with Spirit Neos and added Masked HERO Furnace from his Deck to his hand with Shadow Mist’s effect. Next, he activated Spirit Neos’s effect to try to shuffle it back into his Deck and replace it with Elemental HERO Neos; but Gochenour Chained Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit to destroy the Spirit Neos instead. Next, Gilbert activated EN Shuffle. He returned Miracle Ejector to his Deck to Special Summon Elemental HERO Stratos and used Stratos’s effect to add another Stratos from his Deck to his hand. He Special Summoned Dusk Crow from his hand by banishing Shadow Mist from his Graveyard next, and used Dusk Crow’s effect on the field to add Masked HERO Fountain from his Deck to his hand. He activated Fountain’s effect in his hand to Special Summon Elemental HERO Stratos from his hand. He used the newly Summoned Stratos’s effect to add Elemental HERO Neos from his Deck to his hand. He activated Polymerization next, fusing Dusk Crow with Fountain to Summon Contrast HERO Chaos. He then used Fountain’s effect to Set Mask Change from his Deck to his Spell & Trap Card Zone. He activated the effect of Furnace in his hand next, adding Polymerization from his Deck to his hand and discarding Furnace. He activated Polymerization and fused Stratos from the field with Neos in his hand. He Summoned Infernal Rage in Attack Position. He activated its effect and Tributed it to Special Summon Elemental HERO Sunrise from his Extra Deck. He activated Sunrise’s effect to add Miracle Fusion from his Deck to his hand. He activated Miracle Fusion next. He banished Fountain and Dusk Crow from his Graveyard to Special Summon another Contrast HERO Chaos. He attacked directly with his HERO monsters, and there was nothing Gochenour could do to stop them!
