Alexandre Lebel from Shawimigam, Quebec and Tyler Pinnow from Racine, Wisconsin are facing off in the final Swiss Round of this weekend’s Genesys Championship! Pinnow currently has a 9-2 record with his Regenesis Voiceless Voice Deck, while Lebel has an 8-3 record with his Chimera Hecahands Decks. Both players are clinging to hope for a Top 8 finish, but they’ll each need a victory in this Swiss Round in order to strengthen their odds of making that happen. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Lebel opened up Duel 1 with Illusion Gate, Hecahands Godos, Hecahands Ibtel, The Hidden Hecahands, and Mirror Swordknight.

He Normal Summoned Mirror Swordknight and Tributed it to activate its effect and Special Summon Big-Winged Berfomet from his Deck. He activated its effect to add Chimera Fusion and Gazelle the King of Mythical Claws from his Deck to his hand. Next, he activated Chimera Fusion. He fused Big-Winged Berfomet with Gazelle the King of Mythical Claws to Summon Chimera the King of Phantom Beasts. He activated the effects of Chimera, Gazelle, and Berfomet. He Special Summoned Swordknight, added Hecahands Yadel from his Deck to his hand, and was able to send a random card from Pinnow’s hand to the Graveyard in the End Phase with Chimera’s effect. He used Chimera Fusion’s effect in his Graveyard to return it to his hand. Next, he activated the effect of Ibtel in his hand to Special Summon Hecahands Gaigas from his Deck and return Ibtel to the Deck. He activated the effect of Gaigas to excavate the top 3 cards of Pinnow’s Deck and Special Summon Pinnow’s Royal Archfiend to his field before returning the other 2 cards to Pinnow’s Deck. He sent Gaigas and Royal Archfiend to the Graveyard to Summon Hecahands Jauzah in Defense Position. He activated its effect to add Ib’al-Hecahands from his Deck to his hand. Next, he activated the effect of Yadel in his hand. He added Yad’al-Hecahands from his Deck to his hand and returned Yadel to his Deck. He Set 3 cards to his back row and then ended his turn. In the End Phase, he sent Sauravis, Dragon Sage of the Voiceless Voice from Pinnow’s hand to his Graveyard thanks to the effect of the Chimera he activated earlier in the turn.

Pinnow Tributed Swordknight and Jauzah from Lebel’s field to Special Summon Lava Golem to his field in Defense Position. Next, he activated Regenesis Code to Special Summon Regenesis Sage from his Deck. He discarded Saffira, Dragon Queen of the Voiceless Voice to activate its effect. He sent Prayers of the Voiceless Voice from his Deck to his Graveyard and added Sauravis, the Ancient and Ascended from his Deck to his hand. In a new Chain, Lebel activated the effect of Hecahands Godos in his hand to Special Summon it. He used Godos’s effect to target the Saffira in Pinnow’s Graveyard and try to Special Summon it to his field. Pinnow Chained the effect of his Sage by sending Regenesis Dragon from his hand to his Graveyard to try to negate the activation of Godos’s effect; but Lebel Chained the effect of the Mirror Swordknight in his Graveyard to negate the Sage’s effect! Godos’s effect resolved to Special Saffira to Lebel’s field, and Pinnow conceded.

Duel Two

Pinnow started off Duel 2 by revealing Skull Guardian, Protector of the Voiceless Voice to Special Summon Regenesis Archfiend from his hand.

He activated the Archfiend’s effect to add Regenesis from his Deck to his hand and then activated it to add Regenesis Sage from his Deck to his hand. He Special Summoned the Sage and then Normal Summoned Lo, the Prayers of the Voiceless Voice. He used Lo’s effect to place Barrier of the Voiceless Voice from his Deck face-up on his field and then used Barrier’s effect to add Saffira from his Deck to his hand. He discarded Saffira to activate its effect. He sent Prayers of the Voiceless Voice from his Deck to his Graveyard and added Skull Guardian from his Deck to his hand. He banished Saffira from his Graveyard to perform a Ritual Summon. He Tributed Lo from his field to Special Summon Skull Guardian from his hand, then activated the effects of Skull Guardian and Lo. He Special Summoned Lo from the Graveyard and added Sauravis, the Ancient and Ascended from his Deck to his hand. He Set a card to his back row and then ended his turn.

Lebel drew Ib’al-Hecahands and added it to his hand of Illusion Gate, Hecahands Yadel, Gazelle the King of Mythical Claws, and 2 copies of Mirror Swordknight. He activated the effect of Hecahands Yadel in his hand. He added The Hidden Hecahands from his Deck to his hand and then shuffled Yadel back into his Deck. He Set Ib’al-Hecahands face-down and then activated The Hidden Hecahands by sending Ib’al-Hecahands from his field to his Graveyard as a cost. Pinnow used his Sage’s effect by sending his Archfiend to the Graveyard so that he could negate the activation of The Hidden Hecahands and destroy it. Next, Lebel activated Illusion Gate by paying 4000 Life Points, and Pinnow negated its activation with Skull Guardian’s effect. Lebel Normal Summoned Mirror Swordknight next, and Tributed it to activate its effect; but Pinnow Chained Draco-Utopian Aura to negate the activation of its effect. Lebel immediately conceded!

Duel Three

Lebel opened up Duel 3 with Hecahands Godos, Yad’al Hecahands, Mirror Swordknight, Chimera Fusion, and Change of Heart. He Normal Summoned Swordknight and Tributed it to Special Summon Big-Winged Berfomet from his Deck. He used its effect to add Gazelle the King of Mythical Claws and Chimera Fusion from his Deck to his hand. He activated Chimera Fusion to fuse Berfomet with Gazelle and Summon Chimera the King of Phantom Beasts. He activated the effects of Chimera, Gazelle, and Berfomet. He used Chimera’s effect to send a card from Pinnow’s hand to his Graveyard in the End Phase, Special Summoned Mirror Swordknight, and added Hecahands Ibtel from his Deck to his hand. He activated Ibtel’s effect in his hand by revealing it. He Special Summoned Hecahands Gaigas and used its effect. He excavated 3 cards from Pinnow’s Deck and Special Summoned an excavated Regenesis Dragon to his field. He Set 3 cards to his back row and then attempted to end his turn; but Pinnow kept him in his Main Phase and activated the effect of Dogmatika Fleurdelis, the Thunderbolt in his hand. He Special Summoned it and then activated its on-field effect, but lost out when Lebel banished Mirror Swordknight from his field to negate Dogmatika Fleurdelis’s effect. Next, while still in his Main Phase, Lebel activated Change of Heart to take control of Dogmatika Fleurdelis! He sent it to the Graveyard along with Gaigas to Special Summon Hecahands Jauzah from his Extra Deck and then used its effect to add Ib’al Hecahands from his Deck to his hand. He Set it face-down and then finally entered his End Phase. He sent Lava Golem from Pinnow’s hand to his Graveyard with the previously activated effect of his Chimera.

Pinnow activated Ultimate Slayer targeting Jauzah by sending Garura, Wings of Resonant Life from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard. Lebel Chained Chimera Fusion and fused together Chimera with Jauzah to Summon Berfomet the Mythical King of Phantom Beasts. In a new Chain, Pinnow activated Garura’s effect to draw a card, and Lebel Chained Berfomet’s effect to send Mirror Swordknight from his Deck to his Graveyard. In a new Chain, Pinnow banished Chimera from his Graveyard to Special Summon Jauzah from the Graveyard in Defense Position. Next, Pinnow discarded Saffira from his hand to activate its effect. He sent Prayers of the Voiceless Voice from his Deck to his Graveyard to add Skull Guardian to his hand, prompting Lebel to Special Summon Godos from his hand. He used Godos’s effect to Special Summon Saffira from Pinnow’s Graveyard. Next, Pinnow revealed Skull Guardian from his hand to Special Summon Regenesis Archfiend from his hand. He entered his Battle Phase and then attacked Regenesis Dragon with Regenesis Archfiend, destroying both monsters. He Set a card to his back row and then ended his turn.

Lebel drew Gazelle the King of Mythical Claws and then used Chimera Fusion’s effect to return Chimera Fusion from his Graveyard to his hand. He switched all of his monsters into Attack Position and then entered his Battle Phase. He declared a direct attack with Saffira, and Pinnow flipped Regenesis Birth. Lebel Chained Yad’al Hecahands to negate the activation of Regenesis Birth and destroy it, causing Pinnow to immediately concede.
