We’re in Round 3, and the VIP Duelists have entered the fray!

We’ve got Grant Zelinka here, from Bakersfield, California, playing a Magistus Fairy Tail Deck. He’s facing our VIP Duelist Allen Vera, using a K9 Dark Time Wizard Deck. Vera earned his VIP status on his home turf at Cool Stuff Games in Miami. That means he got a bye in Rounds 1 and 2 today, plus special seating in the VIP area. That hard work paid off, but now it’s time to Duel!

Duel 1

Vera won the dice roll and chose to play first. He had a hand of Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit, Graceful & Skull Dice, K9-X Forced Release, Mulcharmy Fuwalos, and Radiant Typhoon Swen.

He Special Summoned Swen and added Radiant Typhoon Chant to his hand. He activated Chant to add Radiant Typhoon Eldam to his hand. He Special Summoned Eldam and added Mystical Space Typhoon. He stacked his monsters for M-X-Saber Invoker, using it to Special Summon Swiftwind Panther Warrior. He used the Panther to Tribute his Fuwalos and Special Summon Alligator’s Dragon Knight. That let him add Dark Time Wizard and Foolish Graverobber to his hand, then discarded Graceful & Skull Dice. He activated Dark Time Wizard to add another Alligator’s Dragon Knight to his hand, then Special Summoned it. He used both Dragon Knights to Xyz Summon K9-17 “Ripper”, which added K9-17 Izuna to his hand. He used Invoker and Panther to Link Summon I:P Masquerena, then Set all his spells and traps. In the End Phase, he added Dark Time Wizard from his Graveyard to his hand.

Zelinka started with Fairy Tail Ball, and Vera flipped Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy it before it could resolve. Zelinka Normal Summoned Fairy Tail – Luna and activated its effect, and Vera banished Graceful & Skull Dice from his Graveyard for its effect. Zelinka Chained Super Polymerization! He discarded Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, fusing Luna and Ripper into Magistus Chorozo! Vera’s Dice rolled a 6, but Luna was no longer on the field. Luna’s effect then put Genia of the Ring in Zelinka’s hand. He Special Summoned Genia from his hand, and Vera Special Summoned Izuna from his hand. Izuna sent K9-ØØ Lupis to Vera’s Graveyard, and he Special Summoned that. He used Lupis’s effect to let him Xyz Summon a new Ripper. Then, Vera flipped Foolish Graverobber to send a new Graceful & Skull Dice to the Graveyard, then Special Summoned Alligator’s Dragon Knight. That let him add Dark Time Wizard and his third Graceful & Skull Dice to his hand, discarding the Dice. He now used Masquerena’s effect, using it and Dragon Knight to Link Summon S:P Little Knight and banish Genia. Zelinka activated Spenta, the Magistus Sealer’s effect, and Vera negated it with Ripper. Zelinka passed, and Vera banished Foolish Graverobber from his Graveyard to Set a copy of his Dice.

Vera drew Panther and Normal Summoned it. Zelinka’s plays had all been interrupted and he knew this Duel was about to be over – he conceded!

Duel 2

Vera began the second Duel with Lupis, Graceful & Skull Dice, Eldam, and two copies of Alligator’s Dragon Knight.

Zelinka started this Duel with Spell Power Mastery to add Regulus, the Prince of Endymion to his hand. He Special Summoned Regulus by revealing  Fairy Tail – Snow in his hand, taking 1200 damage. Regulus then added Empire of Endymion to his hand. He played Empire to add Verre, the Maid of Endymion to his hand. He Special Summoned Verre and added Verre Magic – Lacrima of Light to his hand. He Xyz Summoned Fairy Tail – Wiccat, using its effect to send Fairy Tail – Matchgiru and Tails of the Fairy Tails to the Graveyard. He Special Summoned Matchgiru, which added Fairy Tail Ball to his hand. He activated that to add Fairy Tail – Luna to his hand. He equipped Tails of the Fairy Tails from his Graveyard, then used its effect to fuse Matchgiru and Wiccat into Teller of Fairy Tails.

Zelinka Normal Summoned Luna to add another Luna to his hand. Then he used Luna to Link Summon Artemis, the Magistus Moon Maiden, which let him activate Lacrima of Light to send Witchcrafter Genni to the Graveyard. He used Genni’s effect in the Graveyard to apply Lacrima of Light’s effect, letting him Special Summon Zoroa, the Magistus of Flame. He used Zoroa’s effect to equip Ninaruru, the Magistus Glass Goddess, then used Zoroa and Artemis to Link Summon Endymion, the Crescent Magistus. It equipped Artemis, and Artemis’s effect let him add Crowley, the Gifted Magistus to his hand. He Special Summoned Crowley, using its effect to fuse Endymion with Crowley into Zoroa, the Magistus Verethragna. He used Zoroa’s effect to equip Artemis. He Set one back row card to finish.

Vera drew Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. In the Draw Phase, he activated Graceful & Skull Dice, rolling an 8 to reduce Zelinka’s monsters by 1600 ATK and DEF. He Normal Summoned Eldam, and Zelinka hit it with Ash Blossom. Vera activated Lupis’s effect in his hand, and Zelinka used Zoroa to negate Lupis and destroy Eldam. Vera Special Summoned Alligator’s Dragon Knight (revealing the second Dragon), and Zelinka negated and destroyed it with Teller of Fairy Tails. Facing interruptions at every turn, Vera conceded!

Duel 3

Vera began the final Duel with Solemn Accusation, Dark Time Wizard, Mystical Space Typhoon, Skull Meister, and Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring.

He activated Dark Time Wizard, and Zelinka negated it with Ash Blossom. Vera Set Accusation and MST.

Zelinka Special Summoned Regulus by revealing Genni, the Maid of Endymion, and took 300 damage. He activated Empire, and Vera used Ash Blossom. Zelinka Normal Summoned another Regulus, then Xyz Summoned Wiccat. He used its effect to send Matchgiru and Tails of the Fairy Tails to the Graveyard. He tried to Special Summon Matchgiru, and Vera negated it with Skull Meister. Zelinka equipped Tails from the Graveyard and tried to Fusion Summon, but Vera destroyed Tails with MST.  Zelinka attacked directly with Wiccat to finish his turn.

Vera had no cards in hand, and drew Radiant Typhoon Vison – he decided to channel his inner Joey and gamble by activating it! He drew Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit and Radiant Typhoon Eldam, discarding the Eldam. He passed.

Zelinka Normal Summoned Witchcrafter Genni. He activated Matchgiru’s effect to Special Summon it from the Graveyard, and used its effect to add Fairy Tail Ball. He activated Ball, and Vera flipped Solemn Accusation, paying 1500 Life Points to negate and destroy it. Zelinka used Genni to Link Summon Artemis, and used that and Matchgiru to Link Summon Endymion, the Crested Magistus. He used its effect, and Vera destroyed Endymion with Ghost Ogre! Zelinka simply sent Wiccat to attack directly, dropping Vera to 2800 Life Points.

Vera had no cards in hand or on the field, and drew Swiftwind Panther Warrior! He Normal Summoned it, using its effect to Tribute it and Special Summon Alligator’s Dragon Knight (Note: Swiftwind Panther Warrior must Tribute another monster, not itself. Unfortunately, this was not caught by either Duelist during the Duel). He used Dragon Knight’s effect to add Dark Time Wizard and Foolish Graverobber, discarding the latter. He activated Dark Time Wizard and flipped a heads to destroy Wiccat, dealing 925 damage! He Tributed Dragon Knight to bring forth Red-Eyes Black Dragon Exceed! That let him Special Summon Eldam from the Graveyard, which added Swen to his hand. He Special Summoned Swen thanks to the MST in his Graveyard, and added Chant. He sent everything to attack directly, dropping Zelinka to 475 Life Points! He stacked Swen and Eldam for Totem Bird, then activated Chant to add MST to his hand, and Set it. He banished Foolish Graverobber to Set Dark Time Wizard. Before the Main Phase ended, Zelinka activated Nibiru, the Primal Being! Totem Bird was Tributed, but Red-Eyes was unaffected. Vera received a 1400 ATK/1700 DEF Primal Being Token.

Zelinka sent Nibiru to destroy the Primal Being Token in battle. In the End Phase, Vera flipped Dark Time Wizard to add Alligator’s Dragon Knight to his hand, then returned Dark Time Wizard to his hand.

Vera drew Radiant Typhoon Vision. He Special Summoned Alligator’s Dragon Knight, and Zelinka negated it with Ash Blossom. However, it still had the ability to attack directly, wiping out Zelinka’s final Life Points!

Allen Vera takes this Match with K9 Dark Time Wizard!
