Alexandre Bujold and Jimmy Clouet are both from Québec City, Québec and both currently have 4-1 records in the Genesys Main Event at YCS Montréal! Now, they’re facing off against one another in this Round 6 Feature Match. Bujold is using an Exosister Deck, which has been popular in the Genesys Format. Clouet is using a Blitzclique Deck. Even though Blitzclique Decks were weakened by a recent points update following the Deck’s dominance in the Genesys Main Event at the North America World Championship Qualifier, Blitzclique Duelists are proving this weekend that the Blitzclique strategy is still one of the most powerful in the Genesys Format. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Clouet started off Duel 1 by Setting a card to his back row and then activating the effect of Grain Blitzclique, targeting his own back row card for destruction.

Bujold Chained the effect of Dimension Shifter in his hand! Grain destroyed Blitzclique Alternator, which was banished, and then Special Summoned itself to the field. Clouet Set a card to his back row and then ended his turn.

Bujold drew Ichiki Sayori-Hime and added it to his hand of Exosister Pax, Dark Hole, Exosister Stella, and another Ichiki Sayori-Hime. He activated Dark Hole to destroy Grain, and then activated Exosister Pax. He paid 800 Life Points to add Exosister Martha from his Deck to his hand and then activated Martha’s effect in his hand. He Special Summoned it to his field, alongside Exosister Elis from his Deck. Next, he used the effect of Ichiki Sayori-Hime to gain a Normal Summon that he used to Summon Sayori-Hime. He activated its effect on the field to add Exosister Sophia from his Deck to his hand. Next, he combined Sayori-Hime with Elis to Xyz Summon Exosister Mikailis. He detached an Xyz Material from Mikailis to activate its effect and add Exosister Returnia from his Deck to his hand. Next, he used an effect to banish Dimension Shifter from his Graveyard, allowing him to use Martha’s effect to Xyz Summon Exosister Karmael using Martha as an Xyz Material. He activated Karmael’s effect to be able to Set a Trap Card from his Deck in the End Phase. Next, he Normal Summoned Exosister Stella and used Stella’s effect to Special Summon Exosister Sophia from his hand. He activated Sophia’s effect to draw a card and then combined Sophia with Stella to Xyz Summon Exosister Kaspitell. He detached an Xyz Material from Kaspitell to add Exosister Martha from his Deck to his hand. He combined Kaspitell with Mikailis to Xyz Summon Exosisters Magnifica and used its effect to banish Clouet’s face-down Mystical Space Typhoon. Bujold entered his Battle Phase, and then Magnifica attacked directly twice, inflicting 2800 points of damage each time. A direct attack from Exosister Karmael wiped out the rest of Clouet’s Life Points!

Duel Two

Clouet started off Duel 2 by activating Foolish Burial Goods to send Blitzclique Alternator from his Deck to his Graveyard. He activated its effect by banishing it from his Graveyard to add Hideout in the Sky, Coulomb from his Deck to his hand. He activated Coulomb and used its effect. He Special Summoned a Mech Beast Token to Bujold’s field and then added Surge Blitzclique from his Deck to his hand. He Normal Summoned Surge and then activated Offerings to the Doomed to destroy the Mech Beast Token. He used Surge’s effect to add Crackle Blitzclique from his Deck to his hand. He Set 2 cards to his back row and then ended his turn.

Bujold drew Ichiki Sayori-Hime and added it to his hand of Exosister Sophia, Exosister Elis, Cosmic Cyclone, Exosister Pax, and Exosister Vadis.

He activated Pax in the Standby Phase by paying 800 Life Points and added Exosister Martha from his Deck to his hand. Next, he entered his Main Phase and activated the effect of the Martha in his hand. He Special Summoned it alongside Exosister Elis from his Deck. He Special Summoned Elis from his hand next, and then combined both copies of Elis to Xyz Summon Exosister Mikailis. He detached an Xyz Material from Mikailis to activate its effect, and Clouet Chained the effect of Crackle in his hand. Bujold then Chained the effect of Mikailis, targeting Surge. Clouet Chained his face-down Blitzclique Alternator, but Bujold Chained Cosmic Cyclone and paid 1000 Life points to banish the Alternator! Surge was banished, Mikailis was destroyed, and Crackle Special Summoned itself to the field. Next, Bujold used Ichiki Sayori-Hime’s effect to get an additional Normal Summon that he used to Summon it. He activated its on-field effect to add Exosister Stella from his Deck to his hand. Next, he Normal Summoned Exosister Stella and used Stella’s effect to Special Summon Exosister Sophia from his hand. He used Sophia’s effect to draw Aratama from his Deck and then combined Sophia and Stella to Xyz Summon Exosister Karmael. He activated its effect to Set a Trap from his Deck in the End Phase, and Clouet Chained the effect of Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit from his hand; but Bujold Chained the effect of Karmael to change Ghost Ogre’s effect to add Sophia from Bujold’s Graveyard to his hand. Since a card left his Graveyard, he was able to activate Martha’s effect to Xyz Summon Exosister Kaspitell using Martha as an Xyz Material. He detached an Xyz Material from Kaspitell to add Exosister Martha from his Deck to his hand. Next, he combined Kaspitell with Karmael to Xyz Summon Exosisters Magnifica. He entered his Battle Phase and attacked Crackle with Sayori-Hime, destroying his own Sayori-Hime in battle and losing 1200 Life Points in the battle. Next, Magnifica attacked and destroyed Crackle. Magnifica attacked directly next, dropping Clouet down to 4400 Life Points. He then used Magnifica’s effect to banish Clouet’s face-down Simultaneous Equation Cannon and entered Main Phase 2. He Set Vadis and then entered his End Phase. In the End Phase, he Set Exosister Returnia from his Deck with the effect of Karmael that activated earlier in the turn.

Clouet skipped his next Draw Phase and then conceded with no way to turn the Duel around.
