We’re back with more Genesys action at YCS Montréal! Joseph Intrieri traveled here from Ghent, New York, with his Magnet Warrior Deck! His opponent is Alexandre Lebel, from Shawinigan, Quebec, playing Chimera Hecahands!

Duel 1

Intrieri won the dice roll and played first, with a hand of Magnet Warrior Sigma Plus, Magnet Bonding, Book of Eclipse, Mulcharmy Purulia, and Skull Meister. He led with Bonding to add Beta the Electromagnet Warrior, and Normal Summoned it. Beta’s effect added Magnet Warrior Sigma Minus to his hand. He used Sigma Minus’s effect, fusing it with Sigma Plus for Conduction Warrior Plasma Magnum. Lebel had Skull Meister to negate Sigma Plus, and Plasma Magnum added Magnet Induction to Intrieri’s hand. He played Induction to Special Summon Epsilon the Magnet Warrior, sending Magnet Warrior Omega Plus to the Graveyard, then Special Summoned Sigma Minus from the Graveyard. He used Sigma Minus’s effect to send Tellusion the Magna Warrior to the Graveyard. He stacked Epsilon and Sigma Minus for Number 60: Dugares the Timeless. Its effect let him draw Conduction Warrior Linear Magnum Plus Minus and Infernal Punisher, and he discarded Purulia. He used Dugares to Xyz Summon Xyz Armor Fortress, which added Full-Armored Xyz to his hand. He activated Infernal Punisher to add Duoterion to his hand. He used that to add a new Magnet Bonding to his hand. He destroyed Beta to Special Summon Omega Plus from his Graveyard. He Special Summoned Tellusion by banishing Sigma Minus and Sigma Plus. He Set all his spells and traps to finish the turn.

Lebel Normal Summoned Gazelle the King of Mythical Claws, which added Chimera Fusion to his hand. He activated it, and Intrieri Chained Tellusion’s effect targeting Gazelle. Lebel Chained a second Chimera Fusion! Intrieri Chained Full-Armored Xyz, upgrading his Fortress into Full Armored Dark Knight Lancer! Lebel fused Gazelle and Big-Winged Berfomet into Chimera the King of Phantom Beasts, then fused that with Hecahands Yadel into Berfomet the Mythical King of the Phantom Beasts. In a new Chain, Lebel’s monster effects activated. Big-Winged Berfomet Special Summoned Yadel, Berfomet the Mythical King sent Mirror Swordknight to the Graveyard, and Gazelle added Hecahands Ibtel to his hand. Lebel returned Chimera Fusion from his Graveyard to his hand. He used Ibtel’s effect to Special Summon Hecahands Gaigas, returning Ibtel to the Deck. Intrieri now used the effect of Full-Armored Xyz in the Graveyard, equipping Dugares to Dark Knight Lancer. He activated Dark Knight Lancer’s effect, Lebel Chained Mirror Swordknight from the Graveyard, and Intrieri negated it with his Skull Meister. Dark Knight Lancer attached Gaigas as a material. Lebel stacked Yadel with Berfomet for Dhampir Vampire Sheridan, and Intrieri activated Tellusion’s effect, then Chained Omega Plus to flip Sheridan face-down. Tellusion brought Omega Plus and Sigma Minus back to the field. With his only monster subdued, Lebel conceded!

Duel 2

Lebel played first this time. Intrieri had a hand of Mulcharmy Purulia, D.D. Crow, Skull Meister, Sigma Plus, and Omega Plus.

Intrieri made the first move, activating Mulcharmy Purulia at the start of the turn. Lebel played Small World, banishing Yadel from his hand and Hecahands Godos from his Deck, adding Mirror Swordknight to his hand. He Normal Summoned it, letting Intrieri draw Duoterion thanks to Purulia. Lebel used his Swordknight to Special Summon Big-Winged Berfomet, which put Gazelle and Chimera Fusion in his hand. He played Chimera Fusion, fusing Berfomet and Gazelle into Chimera the King of Phantom Beasts. Lebel activated the effects of Gazelle, Berfomet, and Chimera. Mirror Swordknight came back to the field, and he added Ibtel to his hand. In the End Phase, Chimera’s effect would take a card from Intrieri’s hand. Lebel tried returning Chimera Fusion to his hand, and Intrieri banished it with D.D. Crow. Lebel used Ibtel’s effect to Special Summon Gaigas, returning Ibtel to the Deck. He used Gaigas’s effect, stealing a Duoterion from Intrieri’s Deck. He used Duoterion and Gaigas to bring Hecahands Jauzah to the field. He added The Hidden Hecahands to his hand, then Set a card. He used Hidden to send his Set Change of Heart to the Graveyard, and added Yadel to his hand and Set Yad’al-Hecahands. He used Yadel’s effect to add Ib’al-Hecahands to his hand. He Set it and passed the turn. In the End Phase, Intrieri was made to discard his Duoterion.

Intrieri drew Conduction Warrior Linear Magnum Plus Minus. Lebel wasted no time activating his Mirror Swordknight’s effect, bringing Big-Winged Berfomet to the field. That put a Gazelle in his hand. Intrieri activated Sigma Minus’s effect to Fusion Summon, and Lebel flipped Ib’al to negate and take control of it. Intrieri Special Summoned Conduction Warrior Linear Magnum Plus Minus by sending Sigma Plus and Beta the Electromagnet Warrior to the Graveyard. He tried using Sigma Plus to Special Summon Beta, but Lebel had Skull Meister just like the last Duel. Intrieri didn’t see a way to play through this situation, and conceded!

Duel 3

Intrieri played first for the final Duel, with a hand of Full-Armored Xyz, Cosmic Cyclone, Conduction Warrior Linear Magnum Plus Minus, and two copies of D.D. Crow.

He Special Summoned Plus Minus by sending Sigma Plus and Beta the Electromagnet Warrior to the Graveyard. He used Sigma Plus’s effect to Special Summon Beta, and Lebel didn’t have Skull Meister this time! Beta hit the field and added Sigma Minus to his hand. He used its effect, and Lebel Chained Mulcharmy Fuwalos. Intrieri fused Sigma Minus with Plus Minus into Conduction Warrior Plasma Magnum, using its effect to add Magnet Bonding to his hand. He played Bonding to add Epsilon to his hand. He then used Plasma’s effect, sending Tellusion to the Graveyard to Normal Summon Epsilon. Epsilon’s effect sent Omega Plus to the Graveyard and brought Sigma Minus back to the field. He stacked Sigma Minus and Epsilon for Battlin’ Boxer King Dempsey, and used its effect to add Courageous Crimson Chevalier Bradamante to his hand. He used Bradamante’s effect to equip Xyz Lay to Dempsey. He used the effect of Xyz Lay to detach Dempsey’s materials and Set Unbreakable Xyz Barrier. He banished Sigma Minus and Sigma Plus to Special Summon Tellusion from his Graveyard. He then used the effect of Omega Plus, destroying Beta to Special Summon it. He Set Full-Armored Xyz and Cosmic Cyclone.

Lebel played Illusion Gate, paying half his Life Points. Intrieri Chained Full-Armored Xyz, then Chained Tellusion to Special Summon Sigma Plus and Sigma Minus. Full-Armored Xyz let him use his new monsters to play Light Dragon @Ignister, which protected his field from Illusion Gate by detaching Sigma Plus! In a new Chain, Sigma Plus brought Beta back to the field, which added Sigma Minus to his hand. Lebel activated Change of Heart to take control of Light Dragon @Ignister, but Intrieri negated that with Unbreakable Xyz Barrier. Lebel simply activated Snatch Steal instead, and Intrieri used Cosmic Cyclone to banish the Snatch Steal! Now that the Duelists were done battling over control of the Light Dragon, Lebel Set one card in his back row. He activated The Hidden Hecahands, sending his Set Illusion Gate to the Graveyard to add Ibtel to his hand and Set Ib’al. He used Ibtel’s effect to Special Summon Gaigas, returning Ibtel to the Deck. Intrieri activated Beta’s effect, then Chained Omega Plus’s effect, Tributing it to flip Gaigas face-down. Beta’s effect brought Sigma Plus to the field. Lebel had burned through all his available plays, and offered the handshake!
