We’re almost at the end of Day 1 here at the North America WCQ, and Duelists are excited to see who will be invited back for Day 2! For this Feature Match, we have Aiden Shaw Harden piloting the Elfnote Deck, facing off against Jackson Thomas Fulmer playing the Vanquish Soul K9 Deck. Each of these Duelists have 6-1 records, so a victory here will go a long way in keeping their Day 2 hopes alive. It’s time to Duel!

Duel 1

Harden won the die roll and chose to go first! He opened with Fydraulis Harmonia, Elfnote Regina, Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion, and two copies of Vidolium the Unstable Power Patron of Unity. He activated Vidolium in the Pendulum Scale and activated its effect, destroying it, then searched for Prohibited Power Patron Portal – Terminus. He then activated Terminus, but Fulmer Chained the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, so Harden ended his turn. 

Fulmer started off by activating Pot of Prosperity, banishing six cards from his Extra Deck and adding Called by the Grave to hand. He then Normal Summoned Vanquish Soul Dr. Mad Love and activated its effect to search for Vanquish Soul, Start! Harden Chained the effect of Fydraulis Harmonia, Special Summoning it, destroying Mad Love, and sending Psy-Framelord Omega to the Graveyard. Afterwards, Fulmer Special Summoned K9-17 Izuna from hand and sent K9-ØØ Lupis to the Graveyard, then activated Lupis’ effect to Special Summon it back to the field; Harden Chained the effect of Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion, but Fulmer Chained the Called by the Grave that he had added with Prosperity!. Fulmer used the two K9 monsters to Xyz Summon K9-66X “Jacks”, then activated Forced Release, using Jacks to Xyz Summon K9-X “Werewolf” and destroy Harden’s Harmonia. Fulmer proceeded to the Battle Phase and attacked Harden’s Life Points directly with Werewolf three times, reducing them to zero!

Duel 2

Harden chose to go first once again, opening with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, Called by the Grave, Solemn Judgment, and two copies of Effect Veiler. During the Standby Phase, Fulmer activated the effect of Mulcharmy Purulia. Harden Set two cards to his backrow and ended his turn. 

Fulmer drew for turn, Set a card to his backrow, and ended his turn. 

Harden drew Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion for turn! He ended his turn without making any plays. 

Fulmer drew a card for turn, but once again was unable to make any plays. 

Harden drew Elfnote Power Patron! He ended his turn once again. 

Fulmer drew a card and activated Stake Your Soul! He activated it, revealing Vanquish Soul Jiaolong in hand, but Harden Chained the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to negate it. Fulmer then ended his turn. 

Harden drew Elfnotes: Welcome Home for turn! He activated it, then sent Effect Veiler from his hand to the Graveyard to Special Summon Elfnote Lucina from his Deck; Fulmer Chained Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, but Harden followed it up with Called by the Grave so that it could resolve! Harden resolved the effect of Welcome Home to Special Summon Elfnote Regina. In response to the summon, Fulmer activated Forbidden Crown, but Harden Chained Solemn Judgment! 

Harden activated the effect of Elfnote Regina, Special Summoning Elfnote Lucina from the Deck. He used Lucina’s effect to search for Elfnote Fortuna, and on resolution, Fulmer activated the effect of Droll & Lock Bird. Harden Normal Summoned Elfnote Power Patron, then used its effect to use it and Regina as Synchro Material to Synchro Summon Elfnote June Pride! He added Regina back to hand, then activated the effect of June Pride, returning it to the Extra Deck to Special Summon Elfnote Power Patron from the Graveyard, Elfnote Tinia from Deck, and Elfnote Fortuna from hand. He used Regina and Elfnote Power Patron to Synchro Summon Elfnote Seraphim Strelitiza, then activated Strelitzia’s effect to bring back the Elfnote Power Patron. Finally, he used the two to Synchro Summon Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon and proceeded to the Battle Phase! With no way to defend his Life Points, Fulmer conceded. We’re moving on to game three!

Duel 3

Fulmer chose to go first in the final Duel! He activated Stake Your Soul!, revealing Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring in hand to Special Summon Vanquish Soul Razen from Deck. However, when he activated its effect, Harden Chained the effect of Effect Veiler. Here, Fulmer activated the effect of K9-17 Izuna, Special Summoning it and activating its effect, and Harden Chained the effect of Fydraulis Harmonia! Harden sent Enigmaster Packbit to the Graveyard and destroyed Izuna, as Fulmer resolved Izuna’s effect to send K9-66b Lantern to the Graveyard. In the following Chain, Harden activated the effect of Packbit, discarding Elfnotes: Rhapsodia of Madness to place Razen in the Spell/Trap Zone. Fulmer Set a card to his backrow and ended his turn. 

Harden drew Elfnote Tinia for turn! He Special Summoned Elfnote Tinia and activated its effect, and Fulmer Chained Different Dimension Ground! Harden resolved Tinia’s effect to place Elfnotes: Welcome Home to his backrow. He then Normal Summoned Elfnote Power Patron and proceeded to the Battle Phase, attacking Fulmer’s Life Points directly with Elfnote Power Patron, Elfnote Tinia, and Fydraulis Harmonia, leaving Fulmer with only 1800 Life Points, then ended his turn. 

Fulmer drew a card for turn, but didn’t draw a way to defend his Life Points or build a board, so he conceded.

Harden secures the victory and moves on with a 7-1 record!
