Welcome to Day 3 of YCS Orlando! We’re kicking things off with a Genesys Feature Match. These Duelists finished Friday’s rounds with an 8-1 record, putting them in a great position to make the Top 8. Danny Street is here from Bristol, VA, playing a Radiant Typhoon Dark Time Wizard Deck. He’s facing Victor Suarez, from Ft. Lauderdale, FL, using Darklords!

Duel 1

We just so happened to be using the Forbidden Crown Regional Qualifier Game Mat for our Feature Match, and Suarez’s very first draw was Forbidden Crown. An omen, perhaps? The rest of his hand was Darklord Dance, Darklord Ixhel, Herald of Orange Light, and Darklord Morningstar.

Street won the dice roll and played first, leading by Special Summoning Alligator’s Dragon Knight, revealing Graceful & Skull Dice. It hit the field, and Suarez used Herald of Orange Light, discarding Morningstar to negate and destroy the Dragon Knight! Street Set three cards in his back row and passed.

Suarez drew Prohibited Power Patron Portal – Terminus and activated it, sending Jupiter the Power Patron of Destruction to the Graveyard to add Darklord Gulgolet to his hand. He used Ixhel’s effect, discarding Gulgolet to draw Herald of Green Light and Super Duper Polymerization. Gulgolet’s effect added Banishment of the Darklords. He activated Darklord Dance, and Street flipped Foolish Graverobber to send Dark Time Wizard to the Graveyard, then Special Summon Ixhel from Suarez’s Graveyard. Dance resolved, fusing Gulgolet and Morningstar into Darklord Eveningstar. Its effect Set Darklord Contact and The Sanctified Darklord on the field. He activated Banishment to add Darklord Djehuty. He Normal Summoned Djehuty, which let him Special Summon Indulged Darklord. That let him Special Summon a Djehuty on Street’s side of the field, adding Morningstar to his hand. He stacked Djehuty and Indulged Darklord to Xyz Summon Minerva, the Exalted Lightsworn. He used its effect to send two more copies of Herald of Orange Light and Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit to the Graveyard. Street now decided to flip Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy the Set Darklord Contact. Suarez played Super Duper Polymerization, bringing The First Darklord to the field and fusing it with Ixhel from Street’s field into another Darklord Eveningstar. He used its effect to copy the Darklord Contact in his Graveyard and Special Summon Ixhel. He used Ixhel to copy Banishment’s effect, adding a Gulgolet to his hand. He Set Forbidden Crown to finish his turn, unable to attack due to Terminus. In the End Phase, Street banished Foolish Graverobber from the Graveyard to Set Dark Time Wizard.

In Street’s Draw Phase, he activated Radiant Typhoon Ascendance to add the Mystical Space Typhoon from his Graveyard to his hand. He activated that to target Suarez’s Forbidden Crown. He thought about activating it, but decided not to. Street activated Dark Time Wizard, trying to destroy Suarez’s monsters, but Suarez negated it with Herald of Green Light! He discarded Gulgolet for this, which added Darklord Dance to his hand. Street continued his turn by Special Summoning Radiant Typhoon Swen, and Suarez negated it with The Sanctified Darklord, discarding Morningstar, and gained 1600 Life Points. Street was out of gas, and conceded the first Duel in the face of the Darklord army!

Duel 2

Street chose to play first again this time. Suarez had a hand of Gulgolet, Indulged Darklord, Ixhel, and two copies of Terminus.

Street started this time with Dark Time Wizard to add Alligator’s Dragon Knight to his hand. He Special Summoned Radiant Typhoon Swen and added Radiant Typhoon Chant to his hand, then used that to get Radiant Typhoon Eldam. He Special Summoned Eldam to add Radiant Typhoon Fonix, the Great Flame. He used Swen and Eldam to Xyz Summon Xyz Armor Torpedo, using its effect to draw a card. He used Torpedo to play Xyz Armor Fortress, which added Full-Armored Xyz to his hand. He Special Summoned Alligator’s Dragon Knight by revealing Jinzo – Energy Shocker, adding Foolish Graverobber and Reversal Box to his hand and discarding the Jinzo. He Set five Spell/Traps, then used Xyz Armor Fortress to play Full Armored Dark Knight Lancer. In the End Phase, he returned Dark Time Wizard to his hand.

Suarez drew Super Duper Polymerization. Street flipped up Reversal Box and rolled a 3. Suarez led with Ixhel, discarding Gulgolet, and Street flipped Foolish Graverobber to send Graceful & Skull Dice to the Graveyard and Special Summon Gulgolet. Ixhel let Suarez draw Forbidden Droplet and Djehuty. Suarez couldn’t use Gulgolet’s effect since it left the Graveyard before it could activate. Suarez simply activated Super Duper Polymerization! He Special Summoned The First Darklord, then fused it with Gulgolet for Darklord Eveningstar! Gulgolet added Darklord Dance, then Eveningstar Set Banishment and Fallen Angel in Darkness. He flipped up Banishment to add Morningstar, then played Dance to fuse The First Darklord and Gulgolet from the Graveyard and Morningstar from the hand into The First Darklord! Its effect activated to destroy all of Street’s cards! Street Chained Sleepy Scapegoats before he lost everything. Then, in a new Chain, he was able to Special Summon Fonix from his hand. The First Darklord had 5000 ATK since it was Fusion Summoned with Darklord Dance, and it smashed into Fonix. Eveningstar attacked directly. Then, Suarez used Eveningstar’s effect to use Darklord Dance again, dropping another Eveningstar to attack and end the Match!

Victor Suarez takes this Match with Darklords!
