New Psychic Strategies

Psychic Decks have been around for a long time now, and we’ve seen several Psychic cards like Krebons, Magical Android and Emergency Teleport make it into other Decks as well. With Duelist Revolution there are new Psychic cards for Duelists to use, and Psychic Decks have plenty of new tricks and combos to make the most of!

More than a Tuner, Mind Master can let you Special Summon the Psychic Monsters you need from your Deck.

Psychic Nightmare is a Level 6 Synchro that needs Psychic-Type non-Tuner Synchro Material Monsters. It starts out at 2400 ATK, but with some psychic abilities of your own (or just some wicked prediction skills!) you can raise that to 3400 ATK, stronger than every monster you see in action today. Final Psychic Ogre is a Level 5 monster with 2200 ATK. Whenever it destroys one of your opponent’s monsters in battle, you can add 1 Psychic-Type monster from your Graveyard to your hand at the cost of 800 Life Points. If you choose a Tuner like Krebons, Psychic Commander or Mind Master, you can Summon it in Main Phase 2 and Synchro Summon a Level 6, 7, or 8 monster.

Even if you’ve already used your Normal Summon this turn to Summon Final Psychic Ogre, you can still use Emergency Teleport to Special Summon a Tuner straight from your hand (or from the Deck if you still don’t have the Tuner you want!). You can even do this during the Battle Phase because Emergency Teleport is a Quick-Play Spell Card, so you can get another attack in before Synchro Summoning!

If you’re looking for a monster with some staying power, we’ve got Ultimate Axon Kicker, a new 2900 ATK Fusion Monster that needs 1 Psychic Synchro Monster and 1 other Psychic-Type monster to be Summoned. There are several different Level Psychic-Type Synchros out there, from the Level 5 Magical Android all the way up to the Level 9 Hyper Psychic Blaster. If you Summon any of these, you can then use Miracle Synchro Fusion to remove them from play, along with any other Psychic monster from your field or Graveyard to Summon Ultimate Axon Kicker.

Save your Counter Traps for Dimensional Prison and other cards that try to remove your Ultimate Axon Kicker from play without destroying it.

Ultimate Axon Kicker can’t be destroyed by card effects, so cards like Dark Hole and Mirror Force will do nothing against it. You can even use your own Dark Hole to destroy your opponent’s monsters, while your Axon Kicker remains unharmed! Also, whenever Ultimate Axon Kicker attacks a Defense Position monster in battle your opponent will still lose Life Points even though his monster was defending, and when Ultimate Axon Kicker takes down any monster at all, you’ll gain Life Points equal to the destroyed monster’s ATK. If you destroy a Stardust Dragon you’re gaining 2500 Life Points, and a defeated Goyo Guardian will give you 2800 Life Points!

Don’t forget about Overdrive Teleporter! This Level 6 monster lets you pay 2000 Life Points to Special Summon 2 Level 3 Psychic monsters from your Deck. It’s great for setting up Synchro Summons. Keep in mind that you can use 3 copies of Cyber Dragon now, and once you Special Summon one, you can either Normal Summon your Tuners or Special Summon them with Emergency Teleport and Telekinetic Power Well to set up your Synchro Summons. You can even Tribute Cyber Dragon for Overdrive Teleporter and use its effect to Summon even more monsters!
