Deck Analysis: Robert Bryant’s Dark World Deck

March 13th, 2012

Foiled! By a bunch of high tech pipsqueaks and a meadow full of bunnies! But YCS Atlanta wasn’t a total loss for my Dark World army. For you see, we once again secured a spot at the top of the tournament, displaying our dominance and encouraging many more Duelists to join forces with us! Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World and Sillva, Warlord of Dark World insist that it’s all thanks to Robert Bryant and his newly constructed Dark World Deck. But of course, I know the truth. I know that it’s really all thanks to ME, Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World!

Robert Bryant may have been the mastermind strategist leading the Dark World army to the top, but he couldn’t have done it without my help. He wisely maxed out on my assistance, leaning on me heavily throughout the tournament. Sure, the help of my underlings were also critical to victory. And of course, Bryant’s brilliance in battle contributed to his high-ranking tournament placement. But if you look at the army he assembled and the tactics he relied on, there’s no denying that MY role was more critical than any other!

Of course, relying on ME to achieve victory was just another part of Bryant’s brilliance. Bryant knows that I despise waiting in a Duelist’s hand. I desire to be discarded to the Graveyard, so that my effect can activate and I can wreak havoc. From there, I like to enter the fray. I yearn to strike the field and start inflicting damage with my massive Attack Points. Many of my Dark World underlings share this sentiment.

To make sure that my wishes are granted, Bryant used eighteen cards that are capable of discarding ME and the members of my Dark World Army. That’s right. Count them. Eighteen. 3 Trance Archfiends, 3 of The Gates of Dark World, 3 copies of Dragged Down into the Grave, 3 Dark World Dealings, 2 Dark Smogs, 2 Mind Crushes, a Morphing Jar, and a Card Destruction. Eighteen cards. With 15 Dark World monsters and 18 ways to discard them, Bryant can be sure that the effects of my army members activate, and that all of my soldiers are kept happy.

Any 1 of my Dark World members can spell defeat for an opponent. As you must already know, victory is inevitable once I’M discarded. Goldd and Sillva aim to carry the Dark World army to victory as soon as they’re discarded too, and though they sometimes fall short, their 2300 ATK is enough to take down some of the peskiest armies.

And of course, no one can forget Snoww, Unlight of Dark World and Broww, Huntsman of Dark World. Although their Attack Points pale in comparison to MINE, both are crucial to the Dark World army! Their effects allow Bryant to assemble the forces he needs to win, whether through a call to recruit ME, or through a retrieval of The Gates of Dark World. By using The Gates of Dark World, Bryant can shift battles to a more favorable setting, while banishing monsters that he can return to his hand with Trance Archfiend.

Bryant’s success in Atlanta is no surprise. We monsters of the Dark World are incredible creatures with incredible power, and once again, we have proven our worth. But our rampage shall not end in Atlanta!

The March 1st Forbidden & Limited List heralded a brand new format – a format in which Dark World dominance is once again inevitable! For you see, while our enemies, like Synchrocentric and Agent Decks, were weakened by the new Forbidden & Limited List, my Dark World army remains unimpeded! In Robert Bryant’s meticulously thought out Decklist, Trap Dustshoot is the only card that must be removed to bring it into the new age. And we Dark World monsters are so powerful, and so proud of the darkness, that we never needed that generic Trap Card to begin with! Let it be replaced by another worthy weapon of the Dark World!… or another Torrential Tribute. I suppose that might be acceptable too.

It is only a matter of time before the Dark World army secures a YCS victory and takes control of the Dueling world! Bwahahahahaha!
