Cosmo Blazer: Defensive Front
The Level 4 Fire Fists give you the power you need to incinerate your opponents. But you can’t win with offense alone. You need to support your front line attackers, stay in formation, and keep the option to Summon from your Extra Deck open whenever possible. And to do that, you’ll need the 3 Level 3 Fire Fist monsters from Cosmo Blazer!
Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Hawk may look weak at first since it only has 1500 DEF, but its effect gives all of your Fire Fist monsters – including itself – an additional 500 ATK and DEF as long as you have at least 1 Fire Formation Spell or Trap Card on your field. Plus, if your opponent manages to overcome your Hawk’s 2000 DEF and destroy it, Hawk’s other effect will activate. If it’s destroyed by an opponent’s card, either in battle or by a card effect, Hawk lets you Set a Fire Formation Spell Card from your Deck. Obviously, this can get Fire Formation – Tenki which can then get you a new Fire Fist monster like Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Bear. Multiple copies stack up of course, and there’s an easy way to make that happen that we’ll talk about next week.
Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Raven has 1800 DEF and makes all of your Fire Formations indestructible. As long as Raven is on your field, face-up Fire Formation Spell and Trap Cards you control cannot be destroyed by your opponent’s card effects. Raven’s second effect lets you Set a Fire Formation Spell Card from your Deck if it’s sent to the Graveyard. Note that Raven doesn’t need to be sent to the Graveyard by your opponent’s card effect to activate its effect. Even if you use Raven in a Synchro Summon, its effect will give you a Fire Formation Spell Card. By combining the powers of Raven and Hawk, you make the equivalent of a steel wall with flamethrowers in front that slowly advances towards your opponent’s Life Points.
Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Spirit is the last of the Level 3 Fire Fists in Cosmo Blazer. Spirit’s effect lets you Special Summon a Level 3 FIRE monster with 200 DEF or less from your Graveyard when it’s Normal Summoned. If you do, Spirit stops you from attacking with any monster that isn’t a Beast-Warrior for the rest of the turn; but since all of the best monsters in Fire Fist Decks are Beast-Warriors, that’s not really a sacrifice.
Spirit only has 200 DEF, so it can Special Summon a second copy of itself with its effect, setting up a quick Rank 3 Xyz Summon. In addition, Spirit is a Tuner monster that can be used to make Beast-Warrior Synchro Monsters. This helps to expand the number of plays you can make with Spirit. Next week, we’ll look at the new Beast-Warrior Synchro Monster and Beast-Warrior Xyz Monster that you can Summon with Spirit.
