Blade Armor Ninja Returns!

March 22nd, 2013

Cosmo Blazer Special Edition hits stores today, and with it comes the re-release of two mega-popular cards from Order of Chaos: Blade Armor Ninja and Wind-Up Shark! But today, the focus is going to be on Blade Armor Ninja, a sweet Xyz Monster that can go in a wide variety of Decks.

Blade Armor Ninja is a Rank 4 Xyz Monster that can be Summoned by combining 2 Level 4 Warrior-Type monsters. With 2200 ATK it can hold its own on the battlefield but its effect is what makes it stand out from the other Xyz Monsters you may consider Summoning.

Once per turn you can detach an Xyz Material to target a face-up “Ninja” monster you control, allowing it to attack twice during your Battle Phase. Since Blade Armor Ninja is a “Ninja” monster itself that means you can use this effect whenever you control it, making it a strong addition to any Deck that contains Warrior-Type monsters!

Blade Armor Ninja will fit into any Deck that uses Level 4 Warrior-Type monsters. The most common choice would be HERO Decks, since most of their key monsters are Level 4. Elemental HERO Stratos, Elemental HERO Neos Alius and Elemental HERO Bubbleman are all common cards to Summon, and if you control 2 of them at the same time you’re all set to Summon Blade Armor Ninja.

Some HERO Decks even use Rescue Rabbit to Summon 2 copies of Elemental HERO Sparkman just to facilitate Xyz Summons, and Blade Armor Ninja will be one of your options if you go down this route. Bubbleman can also Special Summon itself when you have no cards in your hand; you could Summon Stratos, search for Bubbleman and then Special Summon it right away to set up Blade Armor Ninja.

Another Deck that can easily Summon Blade Armor Ninja are the Noble Knights. Many of the monsters you use are also Level 4 Warrior-Types, just like when you play HEROes. Noble Knight Gawayn can be Special Summoned from your hand when you control a LIGHT Normal Monster, such as Noble Knight Artorigus, or Noble Knight Medraut if it isn’t equipped with a “Noble Arms” card. That’ll give you the 2 Level 4 monsters you need to Xyz Summon.

Even without Special Summoning, all of the Noble Knights have high enough ATK to survive a turn, letting you Normal Summon a second copy and Xyz Summon Blade Armor Ninja. Strap a “Noble Arms” card or two on to Blade Armor Ninja, and it can potentially take up to 7400 Life Points from your opponent in just one Battle Phase!

Six Samurai is another popular Deck that can utilise Blade Armor Ninja, containing several Level 4 Warrior-Types and capable of Special Summoning them with ease. Legendary Six Samurai – Kizan can be Special Summoned from your hand when you control another “Six Samurai” monster. If that other Samurai is Legendary Six Samurai – Enishi, The Six Samurai – Irou, The Six Samurai – Nisashi or The Six Samurai – Zanji you’re good to go.

Samurai also have more Special Summoning tricks up their (armor plated) sleeves. Asceticism of the Six Samurai targets a “Six Samurai” monster you already control, and lets you Special Summon another one from your Deck with the same ATK and a different name. Zanji and Kizan will work together for this, as will Irou and Enishi. Return of the Six Samurai lets you Special Summon a “Six Samurai” monster from your Graveyard for the turn, just long enough to set up an Xyz Summon. Double-Edged Sword Technique does the same with 2 monsters.

There are many others ways to set up Special Summons in the Deck as well, from Gateway of the Six and Shien’s Dojo to Shien’s Scheme and Backs to the Wall. Either way, it’s incredibly easy to have 2 Level 4 Samurai on the field to help you Summon Blade Armor Ninja.

Blade Armor Ninja is a powerful ally to have in your Extra Deck if you can Summon it; attacking twice is strong enough, but attacking directly twice can easily win you Duels. Be sure to keep an eye out for it in Cosmo Blazer Special Edition!
