Mecha Phantom Beast Hamstrat – An Egyptian God Card’s Best Friend

May 16th, 2013

With its ability to Summon 2 Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens and the ability to Tribute a token to materialise an actual monster in its place, Mecha Phantom Beast Hamstrat is an integral part of heaps of Mecha Phantom Beast combos. But even outside Mecha Phantom Beast Decks, there are plenty of ways to use Hamstrat, and one of the coolest is to gather the Tributes required to Summon Egyptian God Cards!

Mecha Phantom Beast Hamstrat has 4 effects in total. Whenever it’s flipped face-up, you get to Summon 2 Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens. Like all Mecha Phantom Beasts, it’s indestructible while you control a Token, and it gains the total Levels of all of your Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens. Its final effect lets you trade a Token for a monster in your Graveyard, helping you to set up easy Xyz Summons. The first effect is the important one here, as it’s how you’ll get your Egyptian Gods to the field! It’s really easy to do, too:

– Set Mecha Phantom Beast Hamstrat, preferably along with a card like Threatening Roar to protect your Hamstrat.
– During your turn, Flip Summon Hamstrat, Summoning 2 Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens.
– Tribute all 3 for an Egyptian God Card, like Obelisk the Tormentor!

It really is that simple. Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens don’t have any limitations on what you can do with them, so you can use them for Tribute Summons or even Synchro Summons. It’s great knowing this combo to get an Egyptian God into play really quickly, but you also have to be able to actually do it. So, you’ll need some ways to get these cards into your hand quickly…

Luckily for you, Mecha Phantom Beast Megaraptor can fix that problem! Megaraptor Summons an additional Mecha Phantom Beast Token whenever you Summon any Token, and it can Tribute a Token to add 1 Mecha Phantom Beast from your Deck to your hand. Combining this with Aerial Recharge can give you a free Token every turn, so you’ll have extras to Tribute for Megaraptor’s effect. You may even be able to Summon your Egyptian God after having Megaraptor and Aerial Recharge on the field for a couple of turns! Getting your God Cards to your hand is a little more difficult. However, you can use Gold Sarcophagus to banish one from your Deck and add it to your hand 2 turns later.

So, when should you Summon your Egyptian God Card? It’s helpful to wait until after your opponent uses a card like Dark Hole, since these kinds of cards are one of the only ways to beat your Egyptian God. If your opponent’s Dark Hole is in the Graveyard, drop your Egyptian God Card and start smashing your opponent’s monsters!

Summoning an Egyptian God Card with essentially 1 Tribute is just too good to pass up. If you’ve been looking for an easy way to get your Egyptian Gods on to the field, look no further than Mecha Phantom Beast Hamstrat in Lord of the Tachyon Galaxy!
